Avatar n tn These can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too. Other possibilities are carotid artery aneurysms, abscess, thyroid lumps, lipomas, and cysts.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had crown done following the root canal treatment on 14th tooth 3 years ago due to a regular recurring abscess. After the root canal treatment and crown, i used to get abscess at exactly the same location every now and then but that time with no pain. A month ago the abscess recurred again after a long while, so i went to a dentist (a different this time since i have moved places). He suggested that the previous root canal was not done properly and that the crown had to be removed.
Avatar n tn if you need a root canal, that would explain the pain.Sometimes pain from a tooth can show up as a headache or in another area bceause the tooth infection is near a nerve and it sends the pain to different areas so the pai "travels". See your dentist.
Avatar f tn Did you have a trauma hurting the tooth long back? An abscess could be a result of that. A normal CT scan rules out a brain pathology. Another possibility could be a spinal nerve impingement in the neck. Please go for an MRI of the spine and consult a neurologist to check for nerve impingement. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn I have now started with another headache on the other side of my head and have an odd round place on that cheek. Everything originally began on the right side of my face by the way. When I look inside my I had an abscess tooth 2 weeks ago, the dentist put me on an atibiotic (Z-pak)and then I went back to him to begin a root canal. He couldnt complete & sent me to an endodontist the same day.

Avatar f tn Or is an abscess and a tooth infection the same thing??? Also, will he do more x-rays to make sure it's gone???

Avatar m tn I had a bump behind my ear ever since I was a kid that docs say is nothing, but I'm wondering if I should get an MRI or go to a different specialist? The headache was so bad yesterday, I was contemplating going to the hospital. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn The other RC was done a couple of years ago because of sensitivity and some indication of minor root decay due to old trauma (probably when I broke the other front tooth.) I still have a pressure feeling in the newer RC tooth. I also have intermittent recession of the gums on both teeth. In recent weeks I have had stinging in gums around both front teeth, particularly where the crown meets the roof of my mouth in the back. I have some noticeable recession of the gums and redness.
Avatar f tn It may have been a sinus infection, but the headache started once all of the congestion was GONE! The CAT scan showed an abscessed tooth on tooth #14 (upper left), same side that all my pain! So, I had that tooth and two upper wisdoms removed on Jan 23rd. A little history on #14. That tooth had a root canal done when i was in my teens (now 34). The abscess had been there for YEARS, as it would get a little pimple on the gum and would go away... I didn't realize the danger in that.
Avatar m tn Those looking to blame your headache on your tooth are misguiding you. My experience tells me that the radiation exposure of a panoramic x-ray is significant and dangerous; that the radiation obviously damages the cells of tissues, including nerves; that panoramic x-rays should be avoided. My advice to those who ademantly disagree is “Get one or two panoramic x-ray.s and then comment.” I feel certain that if the first doesn’t wake them up, the second will.
Avatar f tn I had a small fistula appear on Sat. and disappear on Sun. I have had a slight headache since Sunday. I am now starting again with a small fistula, still have the slight headache and now have a low grade fever @ 100 degrees. Can the fever and headache be related to the root canal? I am going to my dentist tomorrow because the temporary crown done by the endodontist has worn off. How worried should I be-could the infection be traveling? Do I need antibiotics?
Avatar f tn I had tooth number 14 (upper molar) extracted by an oral surgeon 6 days ago. Roots were very deep, the tooth had broken and was not savable because of the extent of decay that had grown under the old filling. One of the roots had grown up into the sinus, and the oral surgeon told me there was a tiny pinhole into the sinus. He gave me very specific instructions on post care for such a scenario, but he said he did not anticipate any complications if I followed all instructions.
Avatar f tn I've always been a worry wart, but never like this. The dentist didn't mention an abscess, just a tooth infection. Are they the same thing??? It's really weird, bc I don't have pain or swelling in that area.
1806721 tn?1554337007 But I'm still feeling very weak and sweaty with horrible headaches and constant tooth/jaw pain. Is it possible to get a fever/headache from a tooth infection? Or is the fever just an isolated viral infection? Do I need to be checked by my doctor or dentist?
Avatar n tn dentist took X-ray which was negative (i guess meant negative for abscess) and said tooth is sensitive and I could either 1) look into root canal or 2) maybe try sensodine to see if sensitivity clears up or 3) maybe switch out the white filling for a silver filling - maybe the white filling is irratating the nerve. i tried the sensodine and pain went away october, 2008 - tooth still feels good, no sensitivity and had my routine dental checkup. thurs Nov.
216175 tn?1226099185 Hi, What are you taking for the migraines? Are you on regular follow up with a neurologist? Have you noticed a tooth decay or caries or tooth abscess that could lead to the acute symptoms that you describe? You should try some pain relief medications and see if they help. A neurologist opinion would be advisable a sa routine follow up and also get a clinical examination to find out the cause of this headache. Do you have any associated ear discharge?
Avatar n tn most frequentyl occuring at night but during the day as well. I have a tooth that has needed a root canal for about a year and a half now, but there is no pain caused by it, nor is their or has their been an abscess. I'm overweight with no bloodpressure problems, not a heavy drinker, maybe once or twice every two months, and i have high liver enzymes, no smoking. i dont sleep well and stare at a computer screen quite a bit.
9860206 tn?1406321891 I had x-rays taken 2 days ago and she didn't see any sign of an abscess. -Last week I insisted the NP give me antibiotics, as no one had up to this point. (there's been no blood work, either.) I've been on Augmentin and Flagyl for a week now, and while my temp dipped briefly after 4 days on the antibiotics to low-99's, it's back to high-99 again. The past few days I've been cold (cold, white fingers in 80 degree weather) and very dizzy. The NP said this is due to the Flagyl...I hope so.
Avatar m tn I arrive at the office, get an x-ray, dentist looks at my tooth and says I have an abscess and it seemed to have been there for quite some time already. She proceeds do drain it, sends me home on antibiotics and ibuprofen, and tells me to come back on Friday to extract the tooth. My headache only got worse, and I felt pain from behind my nose and eye all the way back to the neck, all on the left side. It "stings" when I inhale deeply, so I imagined it's the sinus cavities.
6530778 tn?1456887401 About 5 years ago I had an abscessed tooth, do I have a brain abscess from an untreated tooth abscess? Are the symptoms just starting NOW? I googled symptoms of a brain abcsess , and I do have some of them. I'm so scared, it was a bad idea googling that! I shouldn't have did that... But I did. What do I do?? I'm afraid! I can't find a doctor who will give me an mri ! I keep thinking I have a brain tumor, brain abscess, vertigo, or just really bad migraines. Please reply!
Avatar f tn hi guys. i am 37weeks on thursday. and i have woke up today feeling alwful. i cant stop sneezing, my throat is sore & i have really bad headache. only last week i was on antibiotics for a abscess on my tooth. anyone got advice on what i can take to make me feel better?
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? One of the complications of dental abscess is brain abscess. Brain abscess can occur due to fungal or bacterial infections which can easily infect the brain through blood. This brain infection generally presents as headache, vomiting, drowsiness and confusion and sometimes seizures. It is possible that the infection in the brain was the result of dental abscess. A blood culture will help in detecting the type of infection and consequent antibiotic therapy.
Avatar n tn Is there a possibility it could be toxins from my tooth causing me to have this headache, or that i may be having an aneurysm as a side effect?. I have been taking amoxicilin, bactrim, and levaquin just in case of bacterial infection.
Avatar n tn Is there any dental caries or tooth abscess which could cause the symptoms she has? If so a dentist would need to be consulted. Goodluck.
Avatar m tn It could be an early stye, you would need to watch to be sure its not the early prodrome of Herpes Zoster (shingles), the inferior orbital nerve could have been bruised, weird stuff lie a tooth abscess could cause the symptoms. If it gets worse see a physician.
Avatar f tn So I'm sitting there and all of a sudden I feel a popping sensation in my tooth and instantly my toothache and headache go away, followed by a coppery taste in my mouth for a few minutes after. Now I know that I have to go and have someone look at my tooth, but it won't be for the next few days and I was wondering if there was anyone who has experienced this before or knows someone that has and what they did or found out about it.
