Common Questions and Answers about Abscess tooth bleeding

abscess

Avatar m tn I had an abscess in my tooth and it has been extracted now it's infected and I am on antibiotics it is still bleeding after 48 hours now just wondering if I could get a bit of advice please
Avatar f tn I had a tooth pulled out on the 19/05/15, this tooth had a abscess for around 12 - 13 years, other dentists seemed very reluctant to pull the tooth. What I wanted to ask is, how long should it take before the swelling goes down or will it even go down with it being a very old abscess? I was thinking it may just take time because I think it affected the area either side of it as well. The dentist didn't give me any antibiotics but I'm assuming that's because she pulled the tooth out.
Avatar n tn The s/sx progressed to sinus pressure swollen glands, cough runny nose with yellow sputum from cough and nasal. I began to feel better so nixed Dr. visit as my insurance had not started. Two days ago I began having swelling in my gums. Yesterday I found a discolored area on my gums above my front right tooth. Today the sore has progressed to my pallet and is sore and feels blister it is also bleeding. Could this be a sinus abscess?
Avatar m tn Just a big red hole and I can see into my tooth pulp and dark redness where the tooth piece used to be. My dentist appointment is in 3 days to get it removed but I'm thinking is there any danger waiting that long? Do I need to go to the ER or anything. I'm really at a loss as to what to do at the moment. Just really scared of all the "death by abscess" things I've read and heard over the last few months. Someone with some knowledge on this situation PLEASE respond if you can!
12785304 tn?1427244178 I would like to know if this is dangerous to have the blood and puss coming up out of your tooth? Also, would it be okay to do this salt water rinse again today? After I did it yesterday I freaked out when I saw the blood shooting up out of my tooth hole and was afraid I'd die from the infection going into my blood stream. But the pain stopped ever since then and the swelling went down. But I woke back up today with it huge and swollen again minus the pain. What should I do?
Avatar f tn Or is an abscess and a tooth infection the same thing??? Also, will he do more x-rays to make sure it's gone???
Avatar f tn In the last few days I have developed constant aching in that part of my jaw and and it is very tender near one tooth in particular. This tooth also moves slightly when I push it. I have a dentist appointment coming up and I want to get some answers and help. Should I worry about jaw cancer, or is it likely to be a simple tooth abcess that he can treat easily? Please help. Thank you in advance.
Avatar m tn a feww weeks ago my left side began to get sore again, well this time my upper gums around my wiisdom tooth and gums became very painful , and red and swollen. but agian the pain subsided. Then a few days ago it felt like there was food stuck between my gum and wisdom tooth i felt back there and i could feel like a mushy blister above my wisdom tooth. i looked at it and it was white and raised.
883151 tn?1245518109 I went to the dentist about a year ago and they did pull a wisdom tooth on the same side on top. The dentist said the other tooth was too bad to fix. I had chiped it and it just kept getting worse and getting a bad cavity in it. He tried to pull it but it hurt too bad. He kept giving me shot after shot and it would not relieve the pain or numb me to get it out. He said I might have an infection so prescribed me amoxicillin and told me to return it ten days.
Avatar f tn I had my lower right wisdom tooth taken out on approximately 2 weeks ago. The flap is healed, the stitches have fallen out or dissolved, and there is no pain in the area. However, my cheek (on my jawline) is still swollen and puffy (not hard, just puffy), as are the gums around the extraction site and the tooth adjacent to the extraction site. When I brush around the wound, the wound itself does not bleed, but the gums beside it do bleed (minimally) and I'm scared.
Avatar m tn Where I had the abscess she said the tooth was infected and next week is gonna suggest either extraction or a crown.. But my point is I have had like 5-deep scale cleans in the last 10 months and still the same certain pockets seem to bleed heavily.. Is it normal as well to feel a bit unwell when your gums are inflamed. The specific gums that seem to bleed crave dental floss all the time and crave a scale clean. It seems to work the scale clean but is not long lasting...
198506 tn?1251160515 So, consequently, I am ashamed to say that I have not been to the dentist (except once for an abscess) in over 20 years. I am now 40. I brush maybe 4 times a day, floss 2x/day,and rinse with Listerine 2x/day. I have very large teeth, I still have my wisdom teeth.
Avatar m tn Root fracure is generally associated with abscess, instead of bleeding. Seeing a hematologist is advised.
Avatar f tn I've just noticed, moments ago that I had something that looks like bleeding hole in my tooth. Actually, I can't really tell if it's on my tooth or gums. It's accompanied by jaw pain. What this could be? Could it be cavity considering the fact that l had dental examination less than a month ago, and dentist said everything was fine?
Avatar n tn Blood in saliva could be due to local or systemic causes. Local causes like tooth infections, tooth abscess or periodontal disease and sometimes due to trauma from brushing. Systemic causes could be due to bleeding disorders. Some medications like blood thinners and non steroidal anti inflammatory agents can cause the bleeding. They are more common in smokers, in people with poor dental hygiene and with vitamin deficiencies.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with a severe dental infection that resulted from an abscessed tooth being improperly treated. I still have the infection and a dry socket This all happened when after the tooth abscessed the first time and was treated the it was not removed in a timely manner, it was over two months before it started to abscess again.
Avatar f tn i also got root canal treatment for the tooth above which i got this gum problem.is there any problem because of the tooth ? the swollen gums are not exactly near the tooth. it is near the bones on the upper side.can anyone help me to know what is the problem and do i need to visit the dentist urgently?
Avatar f tn She said she thinks it is a crack in the side of my tooth, and this is what caused a lot of bleeding during the procedure. Anyway, since I've came home I have swelling in the side of my face, a blocked ear, discomfort swallowing (feels like there is a lump or something), and a pain in my chest! Does anyone know what could be causing this?
Avatar n tn I had the first part of a root canal done (on the last tooth on the upper left side of my mouth) 2wks ago&after that procedure there was almost no pain.I went back for the 2nd part of the root canal 10 days later&the dentist said the tooth was still infected&was bleeding during the procedure.I have been on really strong antibiotics (Clindamycin 500mg 3x/day;Clarithromycin 500 mg 2x/day;Amoxicillin 500mg 2x/day)for 2wks now.I am also taking 600mg of Ibuprofen 2x/day for 2 wks.
Avatar f tn You should ask your dentist in regards to your particular case.
Avatar m tn Swollen gums could be due to local or systemic causes. Local causes like tooth infections, tooth abscess or periodontal disease. Some medications like dilantin and calcium channel blockers like nifedipine can cause swollen and painful gums. They are more common in smokers, in people with poor dental hygiene, with vitamin deficiencies and are known to be associated with stress.
1842266 tn?1318864059 2 of my teeth are broken to the gum and one is just the shell of the tooth nothing inside and half broken. I dont have swelling or bleeding gums , I dont have pain just broken decaying teeth.

Avatar f tn After removing that cotton,I saw some bleeding near pulp chamber and she said she had no feeling for that tooth but actually she came to me to receive a filling treatment. and at first, I advised her to take intra-oral periapical view.In that X-ray, I saw one fracture line near apical third. Firstly, I told her to receive extraction because she had to go to other country and she had 1 week to stay here. But she refused my advice.and then she asked me is there any treatment except extraction.
3148906 tn?1343699395 I have had many abscess teeth/tooth over the past 3 months one after anther i have found 2 antibiotics work quiet well.and a otc quick remedy as a well. Cipro, and penicillin are 2 good antibiotics that work very well. Also buy some sensodyne tooth paste this works quickly for pain(but sensodyne is a temp fix.
Avatar f tn I take Sprintec now for birth control, but have been on pills for 5 years without issue. I was given Penicillin for a tooth abscess. Penicillin is not listed in my Sprintec pamphlet for possible interactions, and neither the dr nor the pharmacist mentioned any possible interactions (bottle doesn't say anything either). I have been taking the antibiotics for 4 days and have had multiple possible "oops" occasions before this possible predicament was mentioned to me by a friend.
Avatar f tn It could also be referred pain due to causes like sinusitis, TMJ disease, tooth infections, tooth abscess or periodontal disease. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Surgical removal of the abscess as a whole is required. The abscess capsule needs to be removed as well. Once the abscess has been removed, the inciting tooth needs to be extracted, even if it is still firmly attached. Ideally the wound should be left open and filled with antibiotics. Common treatments of the open wound include antibiotic beads, antibiotic swabs/sponges, gels, ointments and manuka honey.
Avatar f tn About my story, I do not know what I had in my mouth. I think a tooth was not doing too well and a section of my upper gums was swollen. In the past, I tried to blow this think a few times and something really gross (like puss) came out (but not much blood, I think). Last May I semi-open mouth kissed an old friend. I cannot recall if I had or not that stuff in my mouth. Assuming that I had, should I be concerned? He kissed me maybe 5 or 6 times.
Avatar n tn Five days ago I had two neighbouring back teeth prepared for crowns and had a temp crown fitted (one rather than two separate). On one tooth, already RCT, I had the filling removed and replaced as I was advised it was an inadequate filling. The prep was quite gruelling and resulted in me in tears. I now have two very sore ulcers on the gum, a nagging pain, pain when biting down on the teeth and a swollen gland on the same side the dental work took place on.
