Avatar m tn A loose crown can lead to lodgement of bacteria under it and cause bad odour.Other causes of bad breath from mouth are tooth decay, sinus disease or gum diseases or reflux disease. Tonsilloliths can also cause bad breath, sore throat, white debris, difficulty in swallowing and tonsillar swelling .These are only possibilities. Seeing a doctor for accurate diagnosis is important. Avatar n tn My question is that ever since I have quit smoking and had my wisdom tooth taken out, I've noticed soreness in my upper back area, and on the lower mollars there is blackening around my crowns. My mouth has a bad taste and odor to it as well. I've been using an electric tooth brush, and floss alone with listerine. Do I need to make another dentist apt. or is there something I can do to get rid of the blackness and odor?
Avatar n tn A tooth abscess is usually a complication of tooth decay. In a dental abscess, or tooth abscess there is accumulation of pus inside the teeth or gums. The abscess usually originates from a bacterial infection and is mostly caused by a dental infection. The common presenting complaints are severe toothache, breath odour, fever, pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling of gums, swollen glands etc.
1096641 tn?1271707225 Opus is right. It could be a bad tooth or bad teeth. It could be the food you are giving him. Try switching him to a different brand, although having four kitties.......that would be difficult. A good check-up at the vet's will help you find out what is wrong with the cat. Only thing we can tell you is we are pretty certain your cat has a problem. Good Luck.
Avatar n tn My grandmother had an abscess tooth, it was treated with a root canal and currently it's been three weeks after the treatment, and she's still feeling extreme pain and numbess in her lower jaw-half of her chin and lip. Her lymph glands are very swollen. She's taking an antibiotic but needs to know if there's any type of emergency fix because her next appointment isn't until next Thursday and she wants to know if there is any alternative, faster treatment for this.

Avatar n tn I went to my regular dentist on 1/13/06 and xrays showed a large abscess in tooth #10, as well as a smaller abscess in tooth #20. On 1/17/06 I had a RCT done on tooth #10, as well as an incision in the roof of my mouth behind that tooth to help extract the infection. On 1/19/06, I had a RCT done on tooth #20, with one 0.05mm post placed. I have been on Antibiotics since 1/13/06, taking Penicillin VK 500mg QID, so I'm now on my Eighth day of antibiotics.
Avatar f tn The only possible reason for this abscess that I can think of is that about a year ago, my front tooth got the corner chipped off. Please respond asap... I am a worrier!! This discussion is related to dental abscess.
Avatar f tn YES do go to the dentist. i had an abscess with my daughter and it got so bad it was almost unbearable. they only thing to get rid of the abscess is to take antibiotics to get rid of the infection and after baby is born they may have to do a root canal or pull tooth all together. mine had to be pulled out. but definitely get it checked out i was told by my dentist that it can get bad enough and get into your blood stream...
Avatar m tn Judging by your description, it is most likely a fistula which is a tract that forms from the abscess of your infected tooth that escapes out to the gums. As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area. I would recommend seeing a dentist and getting treatment started.
Avatar n tn t see any pus sack on my gums or cheek but there is some white stuff that looks like it could be an abscess inbetween my tooth and gums. The dentist hasn't seen me since my cheek swelled up and won't beable to until the 10th. thanks, again.
Avatar n tn Do you think this is a definite sign of a tooth abscess due to the trauma of the crown? When I called about the appointment, they were already talking about the possibility of being referred to an endodontist for a potential root canal. Is this my only option? Can I not just kill off the infection with antibiotics? I broke the bank on the crown (no dental insurance), and I simply cannot afford another expensive procedure.
Avatar n tn Go to the dentist, a bad tooth or gums can cause bad breath. Check if you have some stomach problem. Don't eat heavy foods, like garlic, onion, pastrami, sausages, etc. Use antibacterial mouthwash. You can chew cloves, mint or bad breath products like NuvoraBreath for fresher breath.
Avatar m tn About six months ago, I had a toothache and eventually I developed an abscess, more of the gingival variety apparently. I went in to my dentist and he put me Clindimycin. The regimen of antibiotic did the trick. I returned to the dentist soon after to see what's going on. Well, it turns out I have what's called a 'lingual defect' on tooth # 10. This pretty much means my tooth has some sort of defect on the back side of it that allows bacteria to thrive under the gum.
Avatar f tn I have a painful abscess tooth leading to tooth aches! I need to see a dentist but until then what can i do to soothe the pain for now?
Avatar f tn Tooth numbness can be caused due to a number of reasons like apical abscess, pulpitis, impacted tooth, dental abscess, dental cavities. It would be better if you consult a good dentist for the purpose at the earliest.
Avatar f tn How long does it take for a cavity to develop a periapical abscess? When is the tooth too far gone to save it? Hope to hear from an expert.
Avatar n tn I have had the same abscess over my bad tooth and pop it like a pimple 2 or 3 times a day. I went to the dentist 4 yrs ago and i needed a rootcanal back then. The cost is ridiculous. All my dental work was over $5,000. I can imagine how much it is now 4 yrs later. I don't have any medical insurance and can't even get approved for the monthly payment plan.. I have had this for almost a year now.
Avatar m tn To relate a similar story; I had a bad tooth ache and have been told all my life that dentists are far too expensive to go to without insurance to pay for them. The tooth pain got so bad I had no choice. After an exame, dental x-rays, pulling a tooth, and ect... The total bill was $100.00 and I was expecting $5,000.00. So, ask the dentist how much he will charge for his services.
Avatar f tn I have a tooth Abscess and I went to a doctor who gave me some antibiotics but they made me really sick so I went to another doctor and they gave me different antibiotics and I have been taking them for 3 days now but the swelling has not gone down. I am allergic to penicillin so whenever I get antibiotics they give me special antibiotics.I am just wondering if this is normal not to see the swelling go down yet.
