abscess

Avatar m tn i have received antitbiotics for the infection. Do i need to have it drained? If so what type of Doctor/Dentist do you recommend?
Avatar m tn The most common cause of folliculitis is infection by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Folliculitis symptoms can appear independent of infection. Exposure of the skin to certain chemicals, especially oils and tars, can trigger an outbreak. People with depressed immune systems, diabetes, or obesity have a greater risk of contracting folliculitis than the general population. Patients with chronic unresponsive folliculitis may require investigation into the source of the infection. S.
Avatar m tn by the time i got to the er the doctor told me that my abscess was 1 inch by 3/8 of an inch big. that is pretty large for an abscess. with something like this the longer you put it off the worst it will get. hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn In Nov 2008, I had a swelling below my right breast which was diagnosed as "Abscess". It would ooze out puss with blood and was very painful. After healing,a scar developed around that spot and A FOUL SMELL THAT OF PUS actually emanates from that area(i.e when you touch the area surrounding the scar) What could be happening inside?
702286 tn?1239015260 thanks for all the responses. i had one of these in my wrist about 30 years ago. it eventually went away, of course i wasn't walking on my hands. i also had endocarditis about 25 years ago with no skin symptoms at all. i'm gonna give it the weekend, and if it doesn't improve, then off to the E.R. i go.
Avatar f tn He felt fine after a couple of days and all was well. But about two weeks later the same symptoms returned (w/ a fever of 101.6) and the doctors ruled out strep and mono once again and put him on the same medication regimen. Could his symptoms possibly stem from a tooth abscess?? If not a tooth abscess what else do you think could be causing his symptoms? Thank you in advance for your response.
Avatar m tn If the symptoms persist, I would recommend seeing your medical doctor for a check. I think most of the symptoms could be due to the abscess although I'm not sure about the anxiety attacks.
Avatar f tn So I have severe hypochondria (health anxiety) and I am so so scared of getting a brain infection/brain abscess. I have heard one of the ways of this happening is by an infection in the ear. Now about a month ago I had Otitis Externa (outer ear infection) which was really painful and took about 2 weeks to completely clear up. I have really itchy ears at the moment because I have eczema inside so I am hoping thats all it is.
Avatar f tn Hello Dear, Brain abscess usually occurs secondary to a focus of infection outside of the CNS Dental abscess, sinusitis, and middle ear infection are the most common causes of this disease. The infection may also be introduced through a skull fracture following a head trauma or surgical procedures. Brain abscess is usually associated with congenital heart disease in young children.

Avatar f tn A tooth abscess is usually a complication of tooth decay. In a dental abscess, or tooth abscess there is accumulation of pus inside the teeth or gums. The abscess usually originates from a bacterial infection and is mostly caused by a dental infection. The common presenting complaints are severe toothache, breath odour, fever, pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling of gums, swollen glands etc.
Avatar m tn Therefore, if you feel better after taking antibiotics, it does not mean you have infection responsible for your symptoms. If you do have chronic infection in your mouth, clinical and radiographic exam can confirm. If your extensive dental treatment were rendered for left side facial pain and pain was not relieved, you may have a condition known as atypical odontalgia. Seeing an Orofacial pain specialist is advised.
Avatar f tn Hi i was wandering if anyone could tell me if an abscess on the groin area was supposed to disapear completely or not, as i had what i would call an abscess on my right hand side of the groin it was only pea shaped, then grew bigger and started pussing.
Avatar n tn I had a hole in my heart closed in august 2009 and I take preventative antibiotics for all my dental work because of risk of infection. I have been having these kinds of symptoms since November 2009. I am worried I have a dental infection spreading from neglected dental work, that was complicated by a mis-diagnosis. Sorry for dragging this on, and on. Does a tooth abscess ever not show up on a X-ray?

Avatar m tn Hi, i am 24 year old . My problem is today i saw little bit minor swollen in right side of neck , no type of pain i can feel. Avatar n tn Hello, They seem like boils or furuncle. Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus. . Hair follicles that are blocked by greasy creams, petroleum jelly, or similar products are more vulnerable to infection. Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle.Treatment includes antibiotics and pls do not touch or pick them up.
Avatar n tn Do you think this is a definite sign of a tooth abscess due to the trauma of the crown? When I called about the appointment, they were already talking about the possibility of being referred to an endodontist for a potential root canal. Is this my only option? Can I not just kill off the infection with antibiotics? I broke the bank on the crown (no dental insurance), and I simply cannot afford another expensive procedure.
Avatar m tn since i could make no connection between the temrature, headache and my ongoing dental treatment, i did not complain. but yesterday i went for a visit again because of a recurring abscess again, and this morning for the 3rd time i got up with headache, slight temprature, swollen neck glands and ill feeling. I fear of infection being spread far deep inside the bone or elsewhere, would that be possible? and what steps should i follow?
Avatar f tn he told me it is an abscess abscess is caused by bacterial or parastic infection thats why he gave me antibiotics but i am afraid that it may spread that's why i am asking if the surgery is important or no?
Avatar f tn It felt like they were sitting high because of the inflammation (infection?) underneath the two teeth - mainly on 19. As a result of the adjustments, the teeth barely touch so I really don't feel like it's a bite problem, because I do know how that feels. I think that when they were permanently seated, it caused the infection/inflammation to push out to the lingual side.
Avatar f tn yes having an abscess for a long period of time can react differently from person to person. the thing i would worry the most about would be having the infection spread to the jawbone. letting dental problems go on for years can cause serious health issues.
1657910 tn?1302375661 Hi fibromommyx3 I had to have my first abscess removed surgically. It was so large about the size of a golf ball but it never broke on its own. The new one abscess I have developed has not grown as rapid as the last one. I go on Friday to have a FNA. I'll let you know how that goes. I would say go have the dr at least look at it. Tiffany, I'm so so sorry that you had so much pain. The day after my surgery they removed the packing from my wounds and it hurt so bad!!
Avatar n tn she was shocked to find out that in just 2 lousy days it went from nothing to life threatening. Well the abscess is a staph infection turned out to be the MRSA form of staph. They did emergency surgery and when the surgeon discovered how deep it was (because it took over the entire lip) Its OPEN and packed with gauze if you end up with this ITS NO JOKE and its EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL ....
Avatar f tn "A tooth abscess is an infection that occurs in a tooth that can cause a toothache, and if left untreated can cause loss of tooth or spread to other parts of the body" Causes of Tooth Abscess
Avatar f tn I am a smoker so I don't know if the pain is from smoking or from an infection I may have received from the tooth abscess. My question is, what are the symptoms of an infection in the heart? My other question is, is it possible that after taking 2 antibiotics would an infection have a chance of making it to my heart?
Avatar n tn The initial symptoms you describe may well be secondary to acute sinusitis, possibly secondary bacterial infection. The new development of “swelling of gums” is probably unrelated to your initial symptoms, (except to the extent that upper respiratory infection seems to predispose one to the development of these lesions) and consistent with what are called aphthous ulcers, but I cannot say with certainty that the two problems are unrelated.
Avatar f tn I went to the dentist last sunday with an abscess tooth which is going to have to be a root canal started taking amoxicillin mon its now friday and still swollen no sign of abscess subsiding quite painful still planning to go to doctor or dentist tomorrow are there any symptoms i shoud be worried about and maybe go to emergency
Avatar f tn Unfortunately some of your symptoms such as a stiff neck are beyond the scope of a dentist. We don't treat that area of the body. The swollen lymph nodes could be due to a dental infection but as your dentist said, its been ruled out.
Avatar n tn I'm concerned that he didn't clean out the wound and the abscessed area well enough and that I don't have any antibiotics to ensure that I don't get an infection. What are the symptoms of an infection from where a tooth was extracted? Should I trust this dentist although he didn't give me antibiotics?
