Common Questions and Answers about Abscess symptoms mouth

abscess

Avatar m tn Also, my jaw is so stiff that I can't open my mouth more than about half an inch. I looked on webmd, and the symptoms seemed to be that of a dental abscess. Do you agree? Is there anything I can do besides seeing a dentist? I don't have dental coverage, and I can't really afford anything extra right now. Please advise.
Avatar m tn If the symptoms persist, I would recommend seeing your medical doctor for a check. I think most of the symptoms could be due to the abscess although I'm not sure about the anxiety attacks.
Avatar f tn Over the past couple days I developed an extremely painful abscess. In an attempt to clean my mouth using coconut oil the abscess burst. I believe I didn't swallow any of the liquid leaking out and throughly rinsed my mouth with salt water and then some hydrogen peroxide. I will be receiving insurance in about 2 weeks from my new job so I am hoping I can hold off going to the dentist till then.
Avatar n tn I have a appointment with the my dentist next tuesday, and I plan on asking him about my symptoms. There is something really bad going on in my mouth, and I thought with all the X-rays and dental work I have had done somebody would have found something by now. The other symptoms I can handle, and am working on with my doctors, but these mouth symptoms are terrible. I will see what he says it may be time for a second opinion.
Avatar n tn Sometimes they can find symptoms in the mouth and body and can put it together. Obviously you're asking in the dental forum so you feel there's a possible cause or major symptom which could provide a clue as to what you're experiencing.
Avatar n tn If you continue to see signs, like the water is cloudy again or you see swelling or more external holes, then it might be a very good idea to go to your vet for antibiotics and to see what is causing the problem (usually, like I mentioned, the damage is a one time thing, but once in a while you get an ongoing cause, like a foreign object lodged under the skin or perhaps, in this case, a broken tooth is scratching against the inside of your cats mouth).
Avatar f tn yes your abscess should go away you may need antibotics to clear it up
Avatar m tn Therefore, if you feel better after taking antibiotics, it does not mean you have infection responsible for your symptoms. If you do have chronic infection in your mouth, clinical and radiographic exam can confirm. If your extensive dental treatment were rendered for left side facial pain and pain was not relieved, you may have a condition known as atypical odontalgia. Seeing an Orofacial pain specialist is advised.
Avatar f tn I am a smoker so I don't know if the pain is from smoking or from an infection I may have received from the tooth abscess. My question is, what are the symptoms of an infection in the heart? My other question is, is it possible that after taking 2 antibiotics would an infection have a chance of making it to my heart?

The Dr. prescribed me 500mg penicillin vk. I take one ever six hours. I've been doing that since 9:15pm JUNE 1st and I noticed only a slight change in my swelling and none in my pain. 1657910 tn?1302375661 I just had an abscess open and it is draining red blood primarily. Is this normal? Should I put a call into my breast surgeon to be on the safe side? My regular abscesses are the regular pus with blood mixed in at times, but never just blood. Can anyone help?
Avatar f tn It sounds like what you said it is, a dental abscess. As gross as it is, its a good thing it draining out and leaking into the mouth. If the area closed up, the pus would have no where to escape to and it would cause a larger swelling and could push into other areas of your mouth/face/eye. I would recommend taking a course of antibiotics to help clear the infection.

3210905 tn?1345683091 Hello, Gastritis, fluctuation in estrogen levels, heartburn, postnasal drip, dental caries, tooth abscess are few other causes of metallic taste in mouth. Intake of medications like metronidazole, blood pressure medications, and thyroid medications all can lead to this symptom apart from the causes mentioned by you. The associated symptoms may help in arriving at a diagnosis. Seek medical help. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn I have a 'blister' at the back of my mouth on the gum between the upper and lower jaw (past my teeth). It is painless, has been coming and going for the past few weeks and often pops with a fairly tasteless fluid. IIt is about 1mmx5mm. I also have enlarged glands on that side of my neck which ache (scanned 18 months ago and said to be reactive lymph glands) and suffered sudden hearing loss in that ear in November 2006.
2075494 tn?1331758942 is it a common complaint? Can it be dangerous if I've had it for at least a year.. possibly longer with no symptoms? 2. Feeling around my gums I have a few ulcers recently but also I felt a rock hard mass in my gum that at first felt like bone before I realised it's not on the other side like that and seems just to be a hard painless mass about the size of a small pea. Just no idea what that is.. Seems to have been there for ages as well..
Avatar f tn What causes you to have a soapy, kind of perfume taste in your mouth? It is driving me crazy. Plus, my tongue has been getting sore and swelling. It will turn beet red and get very thick. It is very irritating.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have been having upper mouth pain for about 3 days. There is no abscess or infection of my teeth. I went to the dentist 3 weeks ago and was given a clean bill of health. I went to the dentist today and he said he is not sure what is causing the pain. He took a bunch of x-rays, but could find nothing wrong. He said it's not a cracked tooth, cavities, or an abscess. I have already had all my wisdom teeth pulled. Sometimes the pain is also referred to my lower jaw.
Avatar f tn I asked if it could be a build up of dried sinus and if the sinus fluid is trying to find a way out and if it could be the cause of the the bubble in the mouth. I also have some small sore inside the mouth that looks like it's being eaten up by acids. I have had all the tests done to rule out, herpes, cold/kanker sores etc. It is also not mouth cancer. Has anyone checked into this? I have yet to go to my appointment to find out about the sinus.
Avatar f tn Any other symptoms? Swelling? Bad taste? Problems opening your mouth? You may want to ask for a strong prescription to use at night. Also, are you on any antibiotics?
Avatar n tn So we brought her in again and the doctor found an abscess in her mouth and the tooth that hurt her in August was a bit grey. We went right to the dentist and he said the nerve was dead, she needed a root canal. Her jaw pain is almost gone but she is still extremely fatigued, and has shortness of breath even when doing stairs. She had bloodwork done and her c-reactive protein is elevated. She had an EKG and it showed left atrium enlarged. We are waiting to get in to see the cardiologist.
Avatar m tn When I awoke I was on a breathing tube due o my swelling and had 2 penrose drains sewn into my mouth. I remained on the tube another day and a half, and in the ICU another 3 days total. Eventually I was transferred to the Surgical recovery wing for another night before having my drains removed and being discharged. 6 and a half days and 21 bags of IV antibiotics later, I was home.
Avatar n tn i read something talking about Peritonsillar Abscess.. it fit all my symptoms, so I rushed to the hospital and they needed to surgically drain the pus from my throat... instant relief!!!.. I urge anyone who has these EXact symptoms to not bother with your doctor.. go right to the ER and suggest Abscess. I am a 23 yr old male 6'5'' 200lbs, avid wieghtlifter and rarely sick.
Avatar m tn The things that particularly bother me are the molluscum on the face (my face has also been getting mildly flakey after showering/shaving) and what appears to be oral thrush in my mouth every morning (my mouth gets dry and if I scrape my toothbrush against the white things that appear on my tongue just enough they come off and my tongue bleeds just a little). My hands also get numb more easily when I'm asleep, so I have to move them a little so I can feel them.
Avatar f tn the inside of my mouth and especially my tongue burn with everything i put into my mouth. gum, ice cream, salsas, chips, hamburger, it doesn't matter, unless it's a cold pudding or cool drink, it burns like wild fire. it has gone on for about two years now and i assumed it was a dental problem so the only doctors i have gone to as of this date are dental hygienests. i in fact have an appoint at a college of dentisty in iowa city next month.
