Common Questions and Answers about Abscess symptoms molar

abscess

Avatar n tn Thermal sensitivity and discomfortable biting are probably associated with occlusal interference. Occlusal adjustment can generally eliminate the symptoms. Gum abscess may result from periodontal or periapical infection. Seeing a periodontist to evaluate periodontal condition is advised.
Avatar n tn I had an upper back molar extracted 2 days ago because it had an abscess. It was horribly painful and I made an emergency appointment with a dentist that I didn't entirely trust because I needed some immediate relief. The dentist's office was kind of dirty and a little seedy. The healing process seems to be going fine, however, I'm concerned because the dentist didn't prescribe me with any antibiotics.
6780421 tn?1384733927 That's when I got crumbs caught in between my back molar and got the sharp pains again and then the full spins started. I called my dentist to book an appointment for tomorrow and because this tooth has been an issue for some time now I think I am going to get it pulled. Hoping that will help with this vertigo, Its been over a week now and I cannot walk without holding on to some thing. I am taking Serc, and living on gravel. But also on Penicillin for the tooth.. Can it be this tooth??
Avatar f tn I have been cleaning it regularly with salt water and the pain is not in tooth, but mostly in the gum/cheek area above the back molar. I went to see the dentist (I am staying in Bahrain to visit my dad who works here, and went to a dentist here). The dentist, in my opinion, wasn't very good, and told me that I needed a root canal (Duh), and to take an anti-inflammatory, (duh again). He said i didn't need antibiotics as the infection wasn't that big and my body would fight it off.
Avatar n tn last week i developed an abcsess in my tooth. my cheek became very swollen. the doctor said the infection from the abscess had passed from my tooth into my cheek. they put me on keeflex. within 24 hours about 60% of the swelling in my cheek had subsided. i am now on day 6 of a 10 days worth of the keeflex.
603946 tn?1333945439 2 months ago I had lower left molar pain- woke in the night molar throbbing- Naprosyn relieved pain. This tooth has crown - 23 years ago and root canal 15 years ago (went right thru top of crown) also had a pin-stabilizer post (not sure of the real name)- there was not much tooth left/ so I have gotten 15 extra years out of this tooth- I am 47.
Avatar m tn They removed 2 teeth, my lower right wisdom tooth, and the molar in front of it, and drained my cheek. When I awoke I was on a breathing tube due o my swelling and had 2 penrose drains sewn into my mouth. I remained on the tube another day and a half, and in the ICU another 3 days total. Eventually I was transferred to the Surgical recovery wing for another night before having my drains removed and being discharged. 6 and a half days and 21 bags of IV antibiotics later, I was home.
Avatar f tn About 9 years ago I cracked out a tooth, about 5 years later the molar beside that one cracked out as well. I have very soft teeth. Well, because I have this horrid fear of the dentist I never went and had them pulled. I have been dealing with on again off again infections for the past 9 years. After the nerve died the pain started to go away so the only way I knew I had an infection was when I got the pus bubble which I was usually able to drain.
Avatar n tn Best i can do is lay out the facts. 2006 - had filling put in my bottom left molar 2nd from rear. at that time dentist said the filling is pretty close to the nerve and may eventually require root canal. fastforward to july 2008, went back to dentist due to a few months of sensitivity in the tooth which was getting worse - as opposed to quick hit pain when drinking cold or hot foods, pain was lingering.
Avatar f tn After two weeks of this persisting, fever started developing, symptoms were worse, I went back and begged to be checked for pneumonia. That was negative. Was told to wait it out and continue taking my antihistamines. Got referred to an allergist/immunologist. He said I could possibly have an autoimmune disorder and would test me for lupus, thyroid disorders, etc but he needed to further review my complete medical history and come back in two weeks.
Avatar n tn My dentist is unsure if I have an abscess in one of my molar teeth. The tooth has been chipped off for years and while it doesn't look normal but it causes me no trouble either. I read where a dental abscess has symptoms like--sensitivity to hot and cold foods, pain, sinus infections, facial swelling, etc.. I have none of these symptoms but the dentist still wants to extract the tooth. I do not want to.

Avatar f tn I go to the second doc who says it's most likely a sinus infection, and put me on antibiotics. About three days after this, still researching, and more symptoms pop up. At this time I had weird headaches, almost like cramps in my head. Behind my ears, in the back of my head, in front of my ears, temples... I went to the er one night bc my legs started shaking. .
Avatar n tn I recently went to a dental visit, because I had a tooth abscess in my back molar. I also had an ulcer in my mouth, which my dentist said would probably go away in a few days. I was concerned about the dental equipment, but it is my understanding that the dentist sterilize their equipment although I didn't ask on this particular occasion. Anyway they gave me an X-ray, which determined that the tooth needed to come out.
Avatar n tn I was only out of work for 2 weeks and during that time was somewhat out and about. Symptoms of a new illness presented in March, starting with a canker sore, and progressing to flu like symptoms. I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree).
Avatar m tn P Im worried this may be sometime of gum infection or abscess (did a bad thing and checked for symptoms on the internet) If I put pressure on the bumb or whatever no puss comes out put a little bit of yellowish liquid does D:> im pretty worried about this!
Avatar n tn Most likely an abscess of some sort I would imagine. If the symptoms worsen, I'd go immediately to the dentist or the ER.
Avatar n tn There was no obvious outward signs of infection and an x-ray barely showed decay or abscess and just at the tip. This molar has amalgam fillings. I'm scheduled for a cleaning and X-rays in November. I would, due to no insurance and little money coming in at this time, to watch and wait, then and follow up with an inspection of the tooth again in six months. It is my understanding that a root canal too, has its own list of risks and side effects.
Avatar f tn Today I bit into a piece of over cooked chicken at a church luncheon and had a sharp pain in a molar with a crown. It lasted only a second. No heat/ cold sensitivity or other concerns. This tooth is the longest in my mouth and actually prevents me from totally closing my bite. One spot on the crown is pointed and longest of all. I think this is where I bit. The crown is a few years old and was put over a tooth that had numerous filings.
Avatar n tn I get a gross taste when I yawn almost feels like pus draining throught my 2nd to last upper molar on the right side of my mouth. I have had all my teeth checked by a dentist and no abscess has been found, or anything else that would explain the drainage. I have been seeing a lot of doctors recently, none of which seem to help me out with anything. I get some dizziness, and pressure in the ears sometimes as well. I also have what feels like swelling on my hard palate.
Avatar n tn Amoxicillin relieved the pain and symptoms 90% but when I finished a weeks worth, the symptoms are trying to come back. It's very confusing though the source of the infection, because one day my tooth will hurt and the next day my tooth won't hurt that bad at all, plus I had dental xrays and there's no abscess at the tooth site.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have just been told that the root of a molar that I had a root canal done on is infected, and have been prescribed antibiotics. It has been sore (the root) for about a month and intermittently sore before that for about 6 months. My question is: Can this infection cause the glands in my throat to swell, as well as a mild sore throat? I have had these symptoms for about a month as well, and now have a slight fever.
