I have a abscess in my front teeth. I do have an appointment on this coming Tuesday. What can I do to the swelling.
When the did the surgery they found an abscess (cavity). I had them pull the molar, and they cleaned out the abscess. It is now March and my gum is still sore. Is this normal? I did have quite a few stitches in my mouth. Just wasn't sure if it should still be sore. I should say it is only sore when I touch up there.
I had a crown put on an upper molar about 5 months ago. Since then, I have had pain that has increased each week. It aches on and off during the day and night (i live on ibuprofen to help dull the pain). The crowned tooth and now even the surrounding teeth are sensitive to hot/cold and bitter/sweet. Teeth around the crown have shifted and are our of alignment. If I rinse with salt water, it hurts. It is soooo sensitive. What could be wrong?
Important to mention my lower jaw and upper broken abscess molar are both located on the left side. I have been extremely depressed as my best friend passed away and my ex boyfriend tried to kill me all in a month. Hence the broken jaw. I started doing cocaine and now the entire inside of my nose has deteriorated and I’m so scared to see a doctor because I’m embarrassed for letting my body suffer and missing my initial follow up after surgery.
I went to 4 doctors, the er, and to the dentist. At that time I had 4 teeth (3 wisdom and a molar) that had cavities. At that appt. The dentist said there was no infection. Was going through a lot of stress, still am, and am really scared about my health all of a sudden. Saw my doctor on Wednesday and he said it sounded like anxiety. Dentist on Thursday, said I had a tooth infection. Freaked out, bc I know that this can spread to your brain.
Judging by your description, it is most likely a fistula which is a tract that forms from the abscess of your infected tooth that escapes out to the gums. As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area.
I would recommend seeing a dentist and getting treatment started.
Hi. I have been having upper mouth pain for about 3 days. There is no abscess or infection of my teeth. I went to the dentist 3 weeks ago and was given a clean bill of health. I went to the dentist today and he said he is not sure what is causing the pain. He took a bunch of x-rays, but could find nothing wrong. He said it's not a cracked tooth, cavities, or an abscess. I have already had all my wisdom teeth pulled. Sometimes the pain is also referred to my lower jaw.
I get a gross taste when I yawn almost feels like pus draining throught my 2nd to last upper molar on the right side of my mouth. I have had all my teeth checked by a dentist and no abscess has been found, or anything else that would explain the drainage. I have been seeing a lot of doctors recently, none of which seem to help me out with anything. I get some dizziness, and pressure in the ears sometimes as well. I also have what feels like swelling on my hard palate.
Okay, so I found out that it was an early stage abscess. I've had the first stage root canal done. Meaning the dentist just drilled out the pulp and filled it with temp filling. He said my abscess should go away by itself. It's been a week and the abscess has not gone down at all. Should I be worried? I have another appointment in a few days.
Just wondering since my dentist doesn't seem to like telling me things. And he doesn't seem to really care for that matter.

My story started with sever pain after my root canal treatment a month ago, then I started to feel something is swollen in my throat, moving up towards the part where the root canal molar treatment took place.Accordingly, I made several visits to general dentists & an oral surgeon, got different opinions, but a common ground answer was that it is probably my wisdom tooth that is causing all this & a less doubt that the molar with the root canal may need to be re-treated again.
So now two top molars are resting on one molar. I went to my dentist because that bottom molar has been achy, and there was nothing wrong with it, but that the tooth in question might crack because of pressure put on it. Is that true?! I have to get braces, a bone graft, and a dental implant/ crown. However, I can't afford all of that right now and am wondering if it's okay for me to wait to get this work done for another year or so?
We went to the vet, he said he believed it was related to a tooth abscess/infection. He wanted to do all sorts of tests and thereapies which would cost $1700! I’m financially strapped and was recently laid off and I’m currently looking for a new job. No way I could afford this. I explained this and the vet said the least expensive option would be an anti inflammatory and antibiotic. We did these and everything got better. Fast forward three months and the symptoms returned.
After two weeks of this persisting, fever started developing, symptoms were worse, I went back and begged to be checked for pneumonia. That was negative. Was told to wait it out and continue taking my antihistamines. Got referred to an allergist/immunologist. He said I could possibly have an autoimmune disorder and would test me for lupus, thyroid disorders, etc but he needed to further review my complete medical history and come back in two weeks.
Check with a dentist to make sure there are no infected teeth causing the swelling. If not, I would go see your physician.
I recently had a broken molar repaired with filling material as opposed to a cap. Two injections were administered for the Anaesthetic. I have had a fair amount of dental work in the past but I noticed that the pain after was far greater than before. I took ibruprofen for a full 7 days after. The pain seemed to subside. A few weeks later and now I have a large sore lump at the site of the injections. I am concerned as to what it could be.
About 4 weeks ago, I went to my dentist for an abscess that developed on the gum next to this molar. An x-ray revealed infection. I've been on penicillin for 3 weeks and seeing an endo on Friday to have it evaluated. So far, my dentist said I may have to get the root canal redone. When I asked him if this would save the tooth, he said not necessarily. So, if I have the tooth extracted, what can be done to fill the void? He doesn't think an implant is feasible.
My very back molar on my left side is severely damaged. It broke about 5 years ago and the inside and the side facing my tongue is completely gone below the gum line with a cavity. The last 4 days I have been in extreme pain including all the bottom teeth on that side, my jaw, ear, neck and head. The four bottom teeth in front of that one have a red line running across the top, it looks like a vein. What is it?
I was referred to an oral surgeon on 8/6 to have a "cracked tooth" (lower left molar) removed after having a lot of pain for weeks. That procedure took about 1/2 hour, in which he had to apply what I considered to be an EXTREME amount of pressure to my jaw to get it out in pieces. By 8/12 I was still in a lot of pain and returned only to have the tooth next to it (eye tooth ?) pulled claiming there was an abscess below a previous root canal.

I have had a hard swelling under an old root canal on my lower right second last molar. I went to the dentist and had the tooth removed and had a course of antibiotics. The dentist showed me a large black hole on the x-ray and said it was an abscess. I was going to have an implant inserted but when I went back 6 weeks later the hole hadn't closed enough.
