A painful boil inside vagina can be an infected Bartholin cyst or an abscess or even an infected polyp. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Since it is causing so much pain and the doctors are not telling you what it is, it would be better to get it removed and then biopsied to know what it is.

From what you are describing I would think it may be a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. The Bartholin glands are in the lower portion of the vagina and while the cyst isn't supposed to be painful, the abscess is and I would imagine if the cyst were big enough it would hurt. You may want to see your gyn about this. Also you can google Bartholin's cyst and you will get a lot of information.
Hi, I have what I am 99% sure is a Bartholin Cyst or abscess since it is painful, tender & swollen. I am a medical technician who spent 2 years treating regular abscess' so I kind of know what I am in for but have never dealt with the bartholin gland type.
I am worried because I know that it is very difficult to anesthetize and abscess locally. I am hoping I am not too late for antibiotic/ sitz bath therapy.

From your symptoms,it looks like a Bartholin's abscess or cyst. There are glands in the vaginal lips called Bartholin’s glands. These can become painful and swollen, and an abscess can form. This often causes blockage in the main duct from the gland, and a cyst develops. This is felt as a painless, hard swelling.In such cases, antibiotics may be helpful, or surgical treatment might be required.
I had a colonoscopy 3 months ago, and now I have a huge abscess in my right Bartholin gland, and they are trying to figure out if it is CA or not. Also, there is lots of old blood in it. I have had no sex in the last three months or any other activity in that area other than the colonoscopy, and my OB/GYN says that it couldn't be from the trauma of the colonoscopy. They are testing for CA and I will have results today. I don't believe her.
it came back again, I saw another doctor because my primary was out, they perscribed new antibiotics and referred me to an OBGYN under the suspicion that it was a bartholin cyst or abscess...Exactly 1 month ago I saw that OBGYN, she ruled out bartholin gland issues and performed yet another swab to confirm it wasn't herpes which came back negative and she prescribed me clyndamiacin gel, which paired with antibiotics seemed to clear everything up again.
Anyone ever had bartholin cysts/abscesses??? It's the gland on either side of the vagina opening. I have been getting them for a few years, never needing medical attention, up until now (ER Friday night/Sat morning) AFTER seeing my physician and a GYN (I've always been told they're just bumps from waxing/shaving etc)...
like i went on other website to see signs of herpes but i dont have any of the other symptoms other than a big red pimple thing on my vagina. im kinda freakin out...

You are correct because it can be a cyst or abscess in the perineal area. It does not look like Bartholin’s abscess. There are glands in the vaginal lips called Bartholin’s glands. These can become painful and swollen, and an abscess can form but they present on the vagina and not the groin.
She needs incision and drainage and a course of oral antibiotics as soon as possible.

Pls keep the area clean and apply some warm compresses and topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics.

It can be infected glands or cysts and bartholin cyst is one possibility that should be ruled out. The other possibility is of herpes sores which are painful.

If it is white cottage cheese like discharge then the possibility of yeast infection or candidiasis is there but if there is no discharge then bartholin cyst should be ruled out.
