Common Questions and Answers about Abscess symptoms and treatments

abscess

Avatar f tn Hi Hailey, The main treatments that I am aware of are methotrexate and steroids, along with surgery - either complete mastectomy, excision of a particular area or lump, and also surgical drainage of an abscess. Some women are treated with antibiotics, which might help prevent a secondary infection, but I don't believe it does anything for the IGM. Some women have also tried natural alternatives - supplements, etc. I have chosen not to try most of those treatments.
Avatar n tn He has been taking something for acid reflex and is on malox and musinex. He is getting no relieve. On 2 different occasions he has been vomiting blood. Any suggestions? He is not eating and is losing weight. Please HELP!!!
Avatar n tn If you have an abscess, you may lose the tooth and if the infection is left untreated it could possibly lead to septicemia or death (depending on location). You should see your dentist.
Avatar m tn I tested negative with rapid antibody and blood antibody tests at 5 months 3 weeks (and many times before that) and also with a NAAT at 174 days post exposure as well. All other STD’s were negative as well. Will my chron’s disease affect my antibody production and, even if it does, does the NAAT make my results conclusive? Will chron’s affect my hep c results? I just want to move on as it now seems I have Chron’s to focus my energy on.
Avatar f tn Dear Jaquta, Over the internet without ability to evaluate including physical examination it is difficult to assess your symptoms. After surgery and radiation treatments there is the possibility of a number of different sensations that might occur. It is best to bring your concerns to you the attention of your surgeon who can evaluate and discuss in context of your surgery, the abscess and current examinations.
Avatar f tn I went to the dentist last sunday with an abscess tooth which is going to have to be a root canal started taking amoxicillin mon its now friday and still swollen no sign of abscess subsiding quite painful still planning to go to doctor or dentist tomorrow are there any symptoms i shoud be worried about and maybe go to emergency
Avatar n tn Soon after I had internatal vibrations (head and arms), tightening around neck area, ear and gum pressure and some vision problems. I have had a clear MRI and all blood work came back ok apart from B12 level of 120 and low calcium and vitamin d level, but after taking suppliments these levels rectified themselves. Therefore my doctor has ruled out vitamin deficiencies and the neurologist also seems think there is nothing seriously wrong.
691614 tn?1227464651 I do have a broken tooth at the back of my mouth which I can stick my tounge inside and feel the inside of my tooth. Been awaiting treatment for 6 months now. I get refered to a specialist clinic because I'm terrified of going to the dentist. The assesment appointment is this Friday so I will mention it then (I will probably still have to wait a further 6 months for treatment) I wonder if an abscess from this broken tooth has caused this?
Avatar f tn The most frequent presenting symptoms are headache, drowsiness, confusion, seizures, hemiparesis or speech difficulties together with fever with a rapidly progressive course. The symptoms and findings depend largely on the specific location of the abscess in the brain.Endocarditis, frontal sinus defect, gram negative bacilli Brain Abscess Following Klebsiella pneumoniae Septicemia are some of the causes.
Avatar m tn Hello~The hot and cold feelings sound like pinched nerves to me, seeing a chiropractor might help those issues, he/she will take some x-rays, study them and then go over the results with you, after a few treatments, you should feel better. As to the dental abscess, see your dentist ASAP!

Avatar m tn I have a large swollen/painful abscess in my lower right facial cheek area. i have received antitbiotics for the infection. Do i need to have it drained? If so what type of Doctor/Dentist do you recommend?
Avatar f tn Thank you Jo and Eluriajen for that valuable information... I completely understand that at the end its a personal decision whether one should be undergoing any kind of treament and not getting pressurised by anyone (which right now my Breast specialist is insisting :)) ....
Avatar m tn I wanted to know if these symptoms were brain abscess symptoms. I am a bit of a hypacondriact and I always think the worst is happening when it's usually very normal issues. IE if i have slight chest pain, I will think I have heart issues. That sort of thing. I think maybe my anxiety is getting the better of me. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn My oncologist and hematologist says the chest pain is unrelated to my cancer and treatments. My pulmonary consultant doesn't know what else to do so he is just blaming it on my radiation treatments even though they were no where near where the pain is at.
Avatar n tn s since early puberty, but was not diagnosed until about four or five years ago. Still have the abdominal symptoms, and developed symptoms such as peri-rectal abscesses in the past few years, which is what led to the diagnosis. Just had my third surgery due to abscess about a month and a half ago, and for the past few weeks have had this strange pain. Any pain that seems to be in the area of the rectum, makes me leary of abscesses, but this is different.
Avatar m tn TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS... abscess: An abscess is a localized collection of pus that generally develops in response to infection. An abscess is typically painful, and it appears as a swollen area that is warm to the touch. The skin surrounding an abscess typically appears pink or red. Abscesses can develop in many parts of the body, but they usually involve the skin surface.
Avatar f tn Hi there. It sounds like you have HS as well and I believe my last comment on this thread may help you. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn I'm a 21 year old college senior, and for about a week I have had pain in my right ear, the right side of my throat and jaw. I thought at first that it was a sinus infection, but after a several day regime of mucinex and advil, I was still in quite a lot of pain. I went to the clinic on campus, and the nurse said it was probably an ear infection. I've been on an antibiotic and decongestant for three days, and the pain has gotten worse.
5195620 tn?1364978700 Is it a lung abscess? An abscess is a collection of pus and a lung abscess can follow a pneumonia. If a person has lung abscess, besides cough she will have other symptoms like high temperature and will be toxic. Asthma can predispose to lung infections as a result of phlegm collections. This is usually diagnosed by spirometry. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I've been having symptoms since March, and biopsy sites (two of them) have been draining continually since May. I'm now getting paranoid that the affected breast is getting smaller. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not taking any medication as doctor is taking a 'wait and see' approach. It's not painful any more, but is a bit sore where the biopsy sites haven't healed.
Avatar m tn Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. Recurrent boils are found in diabetes, HIV infection, or other immune system disorders. So pls get your blood sugar evaluated. They don’t occur in any dermatological disorder. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn t touch the extraction site. I would leave it alone and as long as the swelling continues to shrink and your symptoms improve, you should be fine. Are you scheduled for a follow up with your dentist?
Avatar f tn In the early 90s, I had an abscess make an opening in the front of my gums and start draining. It seems that the metal point in my root canal caused the abscess and an endodontist did a second root canal, removed the metal and used gumma percha and it was fine. Now it’s 2018 and I have a soreness beneath my nose and I thought it was from clenching my teeth while I sleep. That was until I just poked my finger up there and there is a swelling about the size of a raisin and it is painful.
