Avatar m tn Hello, They seem like boils or furuncle. Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus.Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle. Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean.Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head.Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription.

Avatar m tn I have what I can only describe as crusty scab which bleeds up nose and blisterish bumps which weep on sole of foot. Could this be staph? If so is this common in healthy people or related to people with weakened immune systems?
577106 tn?1219842945 Also, I have read a lot of posts on this forum were the doctors have recommended a topical antibiotic ointment in the nose to help with staph germs. Is this something I can do over the counter (like neosporin) and if so what are good products to use? I'm not really sure what to do I hate to spend out all of this money to try to get rid of this and stop to soon. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Its usually a staph infection which causes pus and abscess formation. It responds to penicillin group of antibiotics. But if an abscess has formed, it needs to be drained. To find a cure you need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn she was shocked to find out that in just 2 lousy days it went from nothing to life threatening. Well the abscess is a staph infection turned out to be the MRSA form of staph. They did emergency surgery and when the surgeon discovered how deep it was (because it took over the entire lip) Its OPEN and packed with gauze if you end up with this ITS NO JOKE and its EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL ....
Avatar n tn I am now 27 yrs old. I just had a recurrent infection. It usually forms an abscess behind my ear cos the pit was sewn shut by the Dr during the first surgery. This last episode was the last straw. Went to my ENT Dr's office to schedule 2nd surgery on monday. Surgery was supposed to be for tmro but cos abscess poped today. Dr said we have to cancel surgery till further notice. Said since its been recurring for many years. It will be hard to find all the tracts due to scar tissue.
Avatar n tn ) After feeling the scalple slicing open my abscess, then the doctor found a previous abscess under that one and had to slice it open as well. After all of this, it was time to begin packing the wound with this stringgy gauze filled with antibiotic by using a small pair of sissors to do it. I felt everything! It felt like he was poking the abscess with the sharp sissor and then dragging it around the inside edges of the wound. Another very painful and tramatic experience!
Avatar n tn My mom had a non-functioning stent removed in mid-April in a urologists office. The urologist inserted an aparatus with a flexible "arm" sort of thing that pulled it out. Almost one month later, she was hospitalized with what one doctor said was a "kidney staph infection." A month after being released, she was hospitalized again with a kidney abscess. Could these infections be related to the actual stent removal procedure?
Avatar f tn My boyfriend went to the doctor because he has an abscess in his groin/pelvis and little bumps on his penis, and they told him he has a staph infection. However, when I went to the doctor, they told me I have a staph infection on my vagina, yet I have herpes on my mouth. Being in a foreign country, I am skeptical of their diagnosis. If you think this is true, how can I have herpes and he doesnt? Can someone please explain this to me, for I have never been in this much pain in my life.
Avatar n tn She just looked inside my nose and said that it's a sinus/staph infection. She said it's not the serious staph and that everyone has staph in their nose. She put me on a second round of antibiotic right away instead of messing around with the first round because she thought that they swelling was unusual. The antibiotic I'm on is called "Avelox" and I saw improvement with the swelling in <24 hrs. The swelling and paint is almost completely gone! What a relief!
Avatar m tn Okay, so here it is.. Staph infection can occur in any part of the body, right? What about the testicles? If the infection can occur in the testicles, how long before people start to notice the symptoms and what symptoms should be looked for? Any help would be appreciated..
Avatar f tn Hey all, So I apparently have had an untreated Staph infection since November (untreated because my doctor cultured it but failed to ever notify me of the infection...) I found this out, only because I went to the doctor because of some "agitation" in the same area (boil-ish type of thing, blistery, fluid, abscess - as it was called on my chart today) and the doctor I saw today, read it off in my chart (shocker to me)...
Avatar m tn Dear acz1981, Thank you for the reply. Yes, a sebaceous cyst can get affected by a Staph infection but the infection is always localized and does not involve the spine. A staph infection of a boil can go deeper and cause cellulitis. If the cyst is very big in size, it can put pressure on surrounding structures and cause related symptoms. Such infections can be treated with an appropriate antibiotic, especially one which acts on gram positive bacteria.
Avatar f tn Hi, about 7 years ago I came down with a severe staph infection and had to be on antibiotics for over a year. This compromised my immune system.. It seems I have had one tooth infection after another. I had two teeth extracted because the infection would never clear up..okay, I went to my general Dr. Because my lymph nodes on the left side of my neck were swollen, he ran tests they came back normal.. He did a CT of the node and it is just reactive.
Avatar n tn In fact you should have a scan of the area both before and after the removal just to be sure. Recurrence may be there due to a dormant focal point of staph infection. A course of strong antibiotic therapy both before and after would give the finishing touch.

Avatar f tn Hello, If the infection is due to bacterial infection like staph then your sister in law needs topical and oral antibiotics. Pls ask her to keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case. I hope that helps.

Avatar n tn My brother injected himself with what he says is a mixture of his own feces and water. He did this IM and now has a knot in his arm at the injection site and a fever. He refuses to go to the doctor. I just need to know what can happen to him. He said it was about 1.5cc worth of this "solution" he created. Why does he have this knot? It's not a normal abscess if it is an abscess at all.
Avatar f tn When I had my first biopsy in Sept 2010 they sent a sample to culture and sensitive and it came back showing a staph infection. I didn't get rid of the staph until I got I.V. Antibiotics I was so so sick then. I don't feel that way now but I do wonder if I don't get on something can that happen again?!?!? There's so much to consider? Yes I have been wondering if it's worth seeing the infection dr if there's no infection?
Avatar f tn And I dont think in your case just cipro would supress the infection (fever/ large lump is more suggestive of abscess rather than just breast infection; requiring drainage). Possiblity of ductectasia (with super added infection) can not be ruled out in your case.
Avatar m tn It sound like to me you need to find a well respected and well known Infectious Disease doctor ASAP. I have been fighting a systemic staph infection for 2 months now and I can tell you that having the right doc will make all the difference in the world. The Staph infection I have been fighting is called MRSA it stands for Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus it is also referred as a multi-drug resistant form of Staph.
577106 tn?1219842945 I would really like to talk with some other people who have dealt with this infection first hand. If anyone out there wouldn't mind sharing their knowledge, symptoms, etc I'd really like to hear them. Thanks.
