abscess

Avatar n tn ) After feeling the scalple slicing open my abscess, then the doctor found a previous abscess under that one and had to slice it open as well. After all of this, it was time to begin packing the wound with this stringgy gauze filled with antibiotic by using a small pair of sissors to do it. I felt everything! It felt like he was poking the abscess with the sharp sissor and then dragging it around the inside edges of the wound. Another very painful and tramatic experience!
Avatar n tn Since then, the symptoms have pretty much subsided - other than the tonsil. I am now being treated by an ENT for a peritonsillar abscess. I thought my HIV were over. Today I read this link online... http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Bilateral+peritonsillar+abscess:+Case+report+and+presentation+of+its...

Avatar n tn Has anyone experiecned this issue. It is sometimes called a subareola abscess. This is a chronic condition- I have had 3 surgeries to removed the abscess because of the pain associated with it. It is back again and my last surgery was in November. I quit smoking because that is what my one doctor to me the was the ONLY cause and that is I quit smoking it will stop them from returning 100% of the time.
352757 tn?1196794281 He received all the necesary vaccines and I treated him for flea/Tick prevention. Last night as I was petting him I noticed a small bump near the inside of his hind leg. Any idea what this might be?
Avatar m tn street working girl in the Philippines, certainly untested The bump beside my anus - a perianal abscess started growing about 10 days later, burst as an abscess to the surface and has been bleeding since. I have had night sweats, some really soaking on and off for the, loss of appetite, fatigue and fever and non itchy pimples appearing scattered over my back. As can be imagined I am very worried. Testing is the only way to solve this.
Avatar m tn Over that same month, I've had a tooth abscess which I found to be possibly due to a weakened immune system. I was given some antibiotics and shortly got thrush. I looked it up and found that thrush could've been caused by the antibiotic, but of course I first read that it was also possible that this was also one of the symptoms during initial exposure to HIV (including link below). http://emedicine.medscape.
Avatar f tn Just observe it and if it gets any worse, I would go get it checked out by my doctor, but they usually will prescribe antibiotics like penicillin for bacterial infections for treatment or prevention. Also, be careful what you research on the internet. In my opinion, it is a great tool, but it can really feed anxiety. Furthermore, you can link any symptom to any ailment no matter how inprobable it really is...keep us posted!

Avatar m tn He had several tonsilitis, abscess in throat and now he again feels sore throat. I´m so scared - do you think that I need to take another test? I´m just thinking like there is mistake in the lab or something..Please help, what do you think? I took blood test in hospital for several diseasses because of the lymph nodes but everything was ok so that came be back to think about hiv. Can anxiety cause swollen lymph nodes? But what about my bf´s problem with sore throat..
Avatar n tn In other words, your exposure history, symptoms, and anal abscess/fissue are irrelevant; your test results prove you didn't catch HIV during your Tijuana adventure last December. Anyway, absecesses and fistulas are not the kind of infection that raise suspicion about HIV. The frequency of infections may be slightly higher in HIV infected persons, but only a little; and the vast majority of people with such problems do not have HIV.
Avatar n tn a signficant risk that HIV infection actually has occurred; or at least a particularly high pay-off in prevention despite the rarity of the outcome (e.g., routine PCR of HIV negative blood donors, because every person who receives such a person's blood products would otherwise get HIV). I suspect many (most?) people seeking (or being advised to have) PCR testing don't completely understand this stuff.

Avatar n tn I had a perirectal abscess Dec 21, 2004 incised and drained and it recurred March 2005 and Aug 2005 with subsequent fistulectomies performed with a second stage fistulectomy done on Oct 26, 2005. Both fistulas involved the sphincter muscle and a seton was used to cut thru the muscle without damging its function. Last week another abscess recurred. Do recurrent perirectal abscesses lead to fistula formation each time it recurs? Is fistulectomy/fistulotomy the only treatment?
Avatar n tn flowerysuec, Thanks for the question. Recurrent/persistent pericarditis can be difficult to treat. The most appropriate therapy is not definitively known, in part because the condition is not common. The first item of business is to secure the diagnosis of pericarditis. Make sure that you feel comfortable with the manner in which the diagnosis was made -- by a cardiologist?, was an echo done?, was an EKG done? etc. I've included a paragraph from the June 2 1998 Circulation journal.
Avatar m tn My new partner and I always used a condom (have had 5 distinct partners in my life, and used a condom every time except the 2 above) and I have always used a condom in my life except for that incident in may where I did something terribly stupid. My new gf in Jul ended up in the ER with a tubo-ovarian abscess/PID after sex although it was FULLY protected sex.
Avatar f tn I know I posted that I did not have cuts or sores in my mouth at the time, but a few weeks after the latest oral sex incident (May 23), I had what I thought was a canker sore appear on my gum. I just found out today that I actually have a tooth abscess, but I'm not having much pain because a fistula has formed that is allowing this abscess to drain periodically. I'll be getting a root canal next week. The abscess isn't open, it's sort of just like a pimple on my gum.

Avatar f tn Hello, It looks like a boil. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin. Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean. Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head.

Avatar m tn A lymph node in my neck swelled up for reason. Didn't have any sign of an infection, no sore throat, no cough/cold, no abscess, nothing. Then a few days later the following list of symptoms developed and have remained constant for the last 10 weeks and are not showing any signs of subsiding, which is causing me concern. The symptoms are: Constant headache + ringing in ears Intermittent burning pain from lymph nodes in groin and arm pit.
168348 tn?1379360675 Thanks for the awesome input.......................this is how my other stitch abscess stuff started .. with a small white thread coming out and the rest is history as we all know it. I'm more concerned with prevention at this point vs. actual infection. I'm using Bacitracin topically on it . they said for 10 days to do this. Outside stitches were removed on Monday. I have mega Keflex antibiotic left over in case it decides to go infection over the weekend ..
Avatar n tn Maybe its a lose dose doxycycline to control her periodontal disease and isn't related to the actual abscess but rather as prevention to control a chronic low grade infection.
Avatar f tn If the head or mouth parts are left in, that can sometimes cause an abscess or infection. But if you are confident about removing ticks,it can easily be done at home with tweezers. (Place the tweezers right up next to the dog's skin, right where the head of the tick meets its body, and pull straight out firmly and carefully. NEVER try to smother the tick in vaseline or burn it off with a cigarette, or anything else. NEVER squeeze the Tick's body. ALWAYS make sure the head is fully removed.
Avatar m tn I think I may have an abscess tonsil, and I learned that that's a symptom of hiv. I will get tested at the 3 month mark, but until then may I please have some more advice. My questions are as follows: Do my symptoms sound like ARS? If there were poked holes in the condom does that still put me at risk as the insertive partner? Besides a visibly broken condom, what else could indicate that the condom was used incorrectly or that my encounter wasn't safe?
1858011 tn?1319840953 Go and get this sorted, and don't end up with an abscess in your kidney the size of a plum like I did !!!! But you do sound like you are on the case with this.
Avatar f tn I've also had a slightly congested nose and probably a little post-nasal drip, so I'm sure that's not helping my situation either. Finally, I have an abscess tooth that happened to show up right as my strep throat started, and I'll be getting a root canal this week. I'm sure that still has no bearing on the whole possible HIV exposure, correct?
