Abscess on x ray

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess on x ray

abscess

Avatar n tn A dental x-ray can generally identify the source of infection.
Avatar n tn I would rather recommend a periapical x-ray (small dental x-ray) along with occlusal view x-ray used in dentistry as they can give meticulous details of the region involved. Also, they will even help evaluate the healing achieved so far. As your history was very troublesome hence healing may be delayed. This retreated back tooth could also be the notorious element in delayed healing of the area. Get x-rays done to clear out the picture.
1521268 tn?1291123879 In some people the occipital bone at the back of the skull has a protuberance. This is a normal finding and comes up in X-ray. Another normal finding is a protruding spine of cervical vertebra due to bad posture, again detected by X-ray.
Avatar f tn My dentist took an x-ray of my mouth and found no sign of a tooth abscess, even though when she drilled the infected tooth (which had a filling), there was a foul smell, indicating an abscessed tooth. There is also a swelling below my left jaw, and it is difficult to swallow and open my mouth. The dentist didn't explain much regarding why the x-Ray didn't reflect the tooth abscess.
Avatar m tn Your descriptions don't suggest presence of infection, seeing an MD to rule out fibromyalgia, lupus erythematosus, and other systemic diseases is advised.
Avatar f tn She drained, and packed the abscess etc, but during the process I felt my neck was starting to go into spasm, and my ears felt funny too, so I signalled for the dentist to stop. She proceeded to get an X-ray taken, and in the X-Ray, the tool she was using was stuck down my tooth, poking out the side! She said she thinks it is a crack in the side of my tooth, and this is what caused a lot of bleeding during the procedure.
5195620 tn?1364978700 Is it a lung abscess? An abscess is a collection of pus and a lung abscess can follow a pneumonia. If a person has lung abscess, besides cough she will have other symptoms like high temperature and will be toxic. Asthma can predispose to lung infections as a result of phlegm collections. This is usually diagnosed by spirometry. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn This is a normal finding and comes up in X-ray. Another normal finding is a protruding spine of cervical vertebra due to bad posture, again detected by X-ray. The other possibilities are a cyst (usually grows big or small depending on the fluid in it), a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in a nerve), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a swollen lymph node, an abscess, or folliculitis (hair follicle infection).
Avatar f tn It could also be an abscess. You will need to consult your doctor, who may ask for an X ray to ***** the spine, if needed he may even ask for a CT scan, please consult him for an evaluation. Regards.
Avatar n tn hi am 23 years old went to hospital with chest pains lasted roughly 5mins, had x ray told all was ok sent home, a few days a go got a letter from hospital saying had a 2nd look and there is a small unclear patch on my lung is it any thing to worry about and any ideas what it could be?
Avatar m tn First consult an orthopedic specialist and get an X-ray and or CT scan of the ankle. This will give a clear picture regarding the swelling. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hi there. No, head lice will not show up on an X ray. Lice cement their eggs firmly close to scalp. The clearest evidence of head lice infestation is to find living, moving lice. This can be done by combing wet hair with a fine toothed comb. Nits found more than one fourth of an inch away from scalp either have hatched or are unlikely to. Nits, nymphs and adult louse can be found on the body, eyelashes or eyebrows. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn X ray will never hurt anybody. It is just scanning by the rays. Don't worry.
424839 tn?1268186246 my latest back x ray for some reason the dr's still want me taqking the pain killers saying that I must still be in alot of pain
Avatar f tn I have a dental appointment tomorrow and I know they may try to give me an x-ray. I'm 16 weeks now and this is my first pregnancy. I went to the dentist earlier this year and they didn't want to do an x-ray because I was in my 1st trimester. Is it really safe to have one done now?
Avatar f tn I did a stint of antibiotics and felt better, but then when I did a follow up x-ray they found a 3.5cm spot on my lung that was there before but hadn't gone away (no change though). I had a CT scan done this week and the scan confirmed a small mass in my lung and now I have an appointment with the pulmonologist on Friday. Should I be worried that she hasn't given me a definite idea of what it could be?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info. Do I risk horrible health consequences if an abscess develops during those six weeks? Most recent x-ray taken today didn't show signs of an abscess - how fast does such an abscess usually take to develop?
Avatar n tn I had a chest X-Ray and the doctor asked me if I'd ever been told that I have an elevated diaphragm and I replied no
Avatar f tn the best strategy is to have a periodic dental exam, including x-Ray, fix a cavity whenever it is identified.
Avatar n tn I get a gross taste when I yawn almost feels like pus draining throught my 2nd to last upper molar on the right side of my mouth. I have had all my teeth checked by a dentist and no abscess has been found, or anything else that would explain the drainage. I have been seeing a lot of doctors recently, none of which seem to help me out with anything. I get some dizziness, and pressure in the ears sometimes as well. I also have what feels like swelling on my hard palate.
Avatar n tn I have had an abcess and infection at the tip of a front tooth root for four years. I knew that I had problems and this is what showed up on the x-ray. Two weeks ago I had a root canal treatment on this tooth. It was fine for about 10 days but now feels painful and just the same as it did prior to the treatment. Will it be possible for the dentist to re-do the root canal treatment, and if this does not work are there any other options to try and save the tooth?
Avatar n tn The dentist showed me a large black hole on the x-ray and said it was an abscess. I was going to have an implant inserted but when I went back 6 weeks later the hole hadn't closed enough. The hole has been closing but the lump has not gone, and every now and then the lump swells up slightly again and can be a little bit painful. Any advice on what it could be? Has the dentist missed something a bit more serious?
