Avatar m tn Going back to your implantologist to have a dental exam is advised.
Avatar m tn Would a gum abscess cause shooting pain from gum area across cheek to eye, and down neck?
Avatar m tn He gave me amoxicillin which I finished taking a few days ago, but the gum boil is still there. It's like a big lump on my gum. I've been referred to have the root fragment removed by a different dentist, but the appointment isn't for another 2 months. Should I worry that the gum boil is still there? Should I go back to my dentist?

1881960 tn?1320703566 My doctor gave me penicillin and something for pain but its day 3 and nothing has changed. I can feel the abscess in my mouth for the first time today. It's not getting smaller, only larger! I am 29 and on coumadin and lovenox so no dentist will see me. I've called dozens of dentists to no avail. I am trying not to become frustrated but each passing day I'm stuck in bed isn't helping. Any suggestions ?
Avatar f tn Many Dentists does not communicate this reality when they sell you on getting the crown. An Endodontics can do the root canal without removing the crown, they just drill through the crown, do the root canal and seal entry of the crown. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I have had the same abscess over my bad tooth and pop it like a pimple 2 or 3 times a day. I went to the dentist 4 yrs ago and i needed a rootcanal back then. The cost is ridiculous. All my dental work was over $5,000. I can imagine how much it is now 4 yrs later. I don't have any medical insurance and can't even get approved for the monthly payment plan.. I have had this for almost a year now.
Avatar f tn I've put it on a white tissue and it doesn't leave any stains or anything on the tissue. Is this my gum? scar tissue? drainage from the abscess? Its hard for me to see the spot, but from what I can see and feel it doesn't seem like I'm missing a chunk of my gums.
Avatar n tn I've had an abscess on my gum area that started in my tooth for about a week. I've been on antibiotics (clindamycin 150 MG) for 5 days with painkillers. I've been swollen the entire time and have knot on my jaw. The dentist wont lance it because it hasn't come to a head yet. So, do I go to urgent care, or wait it out to see if it will ever come to a head? Thanks!
Avatar m tn He says it is getting better, but for some reason his cheek on the other side of his mouth got swollen (maybe unrelated from biting it) and he says the area of the abscess is still a little irritated even after being on antibiotics today. The abscess was caused by food that got into a pocket between his erupting wisdom tooth and gum (the gum got cleaned out). He was never unable to open his mouth or talk, so far no swollen lymph nodes or anything like that.
Avatar n tn When I massaged the gum with my finger, I got a really foul taste from the gum. So I went to the dentist. He examined the gum and the crown/tooth joint and didn't see anything that looked bad. When he massaged the gum, he didn't see anything, but I still got a slightly foul taste (but not nearly as strong). He then did a percussion test, tapping firmly on all surfaces of the tooth, and I had no pain.
Avatar m tn Judging by your description, it is most likely a fistula which is a tract that forms from the abscess of your infected tooth that escapes out to the gums. As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area. I would recommend seeing a dentist and getting treatment started.
Avatar n tn Open one packet and make a Thick Paste by adding a few drops of warm water. Then apply the Paste to the area on your gum that is blowing up from the abcess. Let the Paste sit on your gum 10 min. or so and the abcess or (balloon) will eventually open and drain. Try not to swallow the pus and you can then rinse with another packet that you mix following the directions on the package. This will take the pressure off and provide a lot of relief. Avatar n tn I have recently developed a dental abscess on the lower left side of my gum. It is located below the screw they placed during surgery. I went to my local dentist and he told me to contact my Maxillofacial Surgery and prescribed 500 mg of Amoxicillin because it may be related to the screw. I have no pain at all in my tooth only the discomfort of having a swollen gum and what feels like like a hard bump a little above the abscess.
Avatar m tn I am booked in to have the root removed in 8 days. I was prescribed antibiotics - clonamox 500mg. I am on day 2 of the clonamox and the abscess appears to be growing as is the swelling on my face. It is very painful and I am getting very worried.
Avatar n tn I have a bum on my gum on the left side of my face behind the last tooth. Some people are saying it might be a caker sore or an abscess. The bump became bigger and I noticed a white substance inside of the bump. It grew bigger than with the help of hot water and salt it began to drain. First question what is this on my gum? How long does it take to heal? and Should I go to the dentist after it fully heals?
Avatar n tn I had a root canal about six months ago and somehow they have lost the crown but in the meantime I have been tryin not to eat on that side of my mouht but about a wek ago it started to feel sore and I developed a bump or it felt similar to a boil on my gum. I was wondering do you think it could be infected?
Avatar n tn If it can manage to break through the jaw bone and exit out of the gum, then the person can live with an abscess for years because the pus buildup in the jaw will leak out of the "gum boil," thus reducing the buildup of bacteria. 3) Which brings us to this question. If it doesn't escape through the jaw and into the mouth through the gums, it can also spread through the fascial planes of the head. These are spaces where muscles and tissues connect.
Avatar n tn Well I have been having bumps apear on my to gum in the same spot and each time it comes it gets a little bigger
Avatar m tn It may be an abscess forming underneath the tooth and its starting to pop out causing a blister/bubble on the gumline area where the bottom of the tooth root is generally. The severe pain is probably indicative of a problem with the pulp/nerve of the tooth. When the pain stopped, it probably stopped because the nerve died from the infection and now its spread down into the jaw. Time to go back to the dentist.
Avatar f tn The dentist broke one off below the gum line and the other he crushed and broke in half, he did not get either of them out. I have been terrified of mouth work since childhood. He told me he would not work on me again unless I took Valium first. He said He needs to cut open the gum and drill into my jaw bone to remove the teeth. I did not go back and that was a year ago. Now the half tooth is abscessed. My face is so swollen its causing pressure in my eye ear and nose.
Avatar n tn When you say that the crowns didn't feel as if they were seated correctly do you mean that when you bit down it felt high, or like you were only biting on that tooth? That can definately cause trauma to the tooth. Sometimes just the process of getting a crown prep done is enough to cause a tooth to die. Some people are more prone to this happening, so maybe that's the case with you.
Avatar m tn I have a little lump on my upper left gum behind my molar but further back than I imagine my wisdom tooth would be. It is painless and I am unable to move it with my tongue but if if push it with my finger it moves slightly with a little click. I have made an appointment to see the dentist but was worried so thought I'd ask your advise. You can not see the lump just feel it.
Avatar m tn This pretty much means my tooth has some sort of defect on the back side of it that allows bacteria to thrive under the gum. This has caused a rather significant periodontal pocket that's around 8mm deep, which is bad. Anyway, the dentist isn't sure if the tooth can be saved or not, so he referred me to a periodontist to see if a root canal could save the tooth or if it has to be extracted (probably the latter). Unfortunately, I couldn't get in the periodontist for a few months.
Avatar f tn Hello. The other day underneath my tongue on the bottom of my left gum line I felt pain when I pressed on this area with my tongue. A few days later, it is still painful but now a couple of white spots have developed. When I rub my tongue over the sores it almost tastes salty and as if my gum is punctured. What could this be? Am I in need of medical care?
Avatar f tn Hi I was with the doctor 3 days ago because I have a small swelling just on my face just below my lip, once a white pus discharge came from it. The doctor told me that I have a chronic abscess and gave me Germentin for 7 days and also told me to go to the dentist. I went to the dentist and he extracted the tooth but there doesn't seem to be any improvement on my face.
Avatar n tn on the completion of a crown placement I noticed a pimple above the crown some weeks later! There was no pain or sensitivity but on a visit to the dentist he told me I would need to consider a root canal procedure! However until then I should increase my flossing, brushing and mouth washing! I have not had the therapy because of fear of compromising my immunity! Am I right not to do the therapy since I have no symptoms other than a small unsightly pimple?
Avatar n tn Hi, I had a tooth out next to my front tooth about 6 years ago and it got an abscess after the gum healed and closed about 6 months later. I have a wound outside the gum and I feel the abscess when I press under my nose. I have been to a surgeon and the xray showed a dark spot, but when they cut the gum I felt it all and cried and cried. Due to having high blood pressure they didn't numb the area well at all, so I made them stop.
Avatar f tn I have abscess on gum and another painful toothful but im 32 weeks and scared to go to dentist should i?
