Avatar m tn I know it may sound really strange but I am in so much pain from recurrent abscesses. The abscesses are usually on my leg or in my arm pit and under my breast. I had one in my rectum area too. I had been to the doctors so many times and put on dicloxicillin which seemed to help at the time, yet they still kept on recurring. i don't know what to do.......

Avatar f tn If its open and have stuff coming out you can use a potato to dry it out. I had an abscess on my leg once. And my step dad told me about it. Just wash the potato cut a lil piece of it and put on there and leave it there over night. And day. And keep doing that till it drys out. Mite take a few days tho. Just make sure the area is clean around it but the abscess stay dry. And change the potato when you wake up and at night.
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
632991 tn?1222697140 hi. i've been to my doctor last, last week and found out that my lump on my left breast preferably on the areolar part was an abscess..they drained the pus, and i went through GSCS..thank God they found no microorganisms, no growth after 7hrs. of incubation, i've taken antibiotics and everything.. But my worry here is that, the lump appeared again, it's not painful anymore but pus is still present. So, i drained it and applied first aid.
Avatar n tn In Nov 2008, I had a swelling below my right breast which was diagnosed as "Abscess". It would ooze out puss with blood and was very painful. After healing,a scar developed around that spot and A FOUL SMELL THAT OF PUS actually emanates from that area(i.e when you touch the area surrounding the scar) What could be happening inside?
Avatar m tn Now, another abcess has appeared on my chest (just close to my left breast nipple) and I am worried whether this will create any serious consequences. Can anyone advise me why this reoccur and whether it is simply a skin disease.

I have been going for dressing for the past 1 month.
Avatar n tn I recently got an abscess in my breast drained. The bacteria found was citrobacter koseri which is a a cause of urinary tract infections. I am curious on how I could have gotten that infection in my breast.
Avatar n tn Why do I still have pain in my breast abscess wound after my breast abscess incision heals?
Avatar n tn I am 42 year-old, I had a cyst near the nipple of my right breast and was aspirated after making a mamo and ultrasound and was diagnosed by the pathologist as an abscess. I was on antibiotic for 10 days. The lump almost disappeared but pain persisted and became sometimes stronger specially around the nipple. I went yesterday to the doctor again and made another ultrasound and he told me that there is a scar tissue left and I have to wait 2 months for a follow-up by an ultrasound.
Avatar m tn / The other abscess that was thought to have turned hard is actually still an abscess. I strongly suspect the surgeon missed when he tried to aspirate in the office w/o ultrasound. If it were scar tissue it would have not been detected in an ultra sound. According to the radiologist. I'm curious because the previous aspirations did not work is surgery the next step? I'm quite afraid to have a double draining. If surgery is required how long is the healing time, roughly.
Avatar f tn It started back on 6/12 and as I write this question I have multiple abscesses on my left breast some about to break open other that look like a big bruise and some in my right breast. They're very painful & after 4 surgeries I am very sad to say it seems to get worst every time. My surgeon sent me to an infectious disease doctor, 3 weeks ago but still unable to see her bc of my insurance. No one has an idea why the abscesses keep coming, nothing gets to them!
Avatar n tn I have an abscess under my breast. It has grown in the same spot about 3 or 4 times before. I went to the doctor and she referred me to get an ultrasound to see how far down it went. They determined that it did not go into my breast tissue. The last time i got it the doctor put me on antibiotics which i felt did nothing since it always heals by itself. Anyway, it is growing back again more painful and bigger then before and i just don't know what to do about it anymore.

Avatar m tn i visited my GP who examined it and said it was a abscess inside my boob, and gave me a week antibiotics, 12 tablets a day to try and get rid. i had to go back 3 days later for some pain relief too. ive finished my tablets today and the swelling has gone down but im still having twinges of pain through my boob and even though the swelling and warmth have now gone there is still a lump there, and around the nipple is very hard along with all over the boob.
945369 tn?1320833037 ( I am considering taking medication for suppression for breast milk. The surgical wound is still open and will take another 4 days to heal at least. It is leaking pus and milk all the time. My body is still producing milk in the operated breast. Are there any known side effects or long term issues with taking medicines for suppressing lactation?
Avatar f tn Hi There, I got first time breast pain on 1st of July,2013. Doctor suggested me to take calpol thrice a day as at that time, I was 7 month pregnant. After 10 days, it was severe pain there and then doctor advised me for admission in hospital for at least 48 hours. After the breast scan, mastitis was found from 9 to 11 clockwise. Doctor advised me to complete the course of amoxycyllin (500 mg, oral) thrice a day, this medicine responded well and the red area on the breast almost disappeared.
Avatar f tn I noticed what seemed to be an ingrown/blind pimple under-but on my breast. so I squeezed it- & it burst open, oozing this light green pus follled w/blood. any thoughts?
Avatar f tn What you've read is pretty much "right on" .. any breast abscess is VERY difficult to deal with and can take months and months to cure. As to why they occur is anyone's guess usually. Since you have had complete surgical removal of the area I would think you have a good chance of complete recovery although as you say ... it's a "pain" in more ways than one. You'll just have to keep up the prescribed treatment however difficult it may seem. As far as a recurrence goes ....
Avatar m tn Tests have shown that I have cysts behind the nipple that have ruptured, causing the abscess. My breast surgeon says the ultimate cure would be to remove the nipple/areolar complex and affected ducts/tissue, which I am not opposed to. After consulting with a plastic surgeon he suggested a prophylactic mastectomy with reconstruction because removing the nipple/areolar complex and affected tissue alone would not reconstruct well and leave my breast deformed. Has anyone else experienced this?
1657910 tn?1302375661 Mine leaves it up to my decision on whether I should call and come in or can handle on my own, but she also greatly respects my judgement with my own body. My previous doctor had me call and come in EVERY time. Depends on the doctor (I guess) I'd also check with your insurance if you have it.
Avatar f tn I'm afraid I'm about to have my first abscess rupture and I am terrified. My doctor told me to just call the office if it happens but what do I do in the meantime? It is so painful and red, it hurts with just the movement of walking. I've read some horrifying stories about abscesses and what happens when they rupture.
Avatar n tn I can sympathise with you all. I too am currently suffering with an abscess on my left ear lobe/where it joins my head. The whole area is hugely swollen and extremely painful. I have been prescribed antibiotics only (Flucloxacillin). And am making my own concoction of pain relief up! I visited a doctor who told me it would needed draining ASAP and then sent me round to A&E.
Avatar n tn My body doesn't respond to antibiotics anymore and I wish it would stop. I got a small one on my breast which I finally got the lump to drain last night but of course there will be scaring. When I go to the doctor they literally cut lines in my skin leaving larger scarring. I'm young and I am very aware and self conscious of my skin bc I like to dress lightly not have to cover myself up. It creates a problem with my love life bc what guy wants to see scars and abscesses all over you?
7297290 tn?1389939528 Well it dried up and now i have been noticing a hold on my breast about the size of a sharpie pen felt tip..and it drains clear liquid. My concern is if this is normal?..Will the hole close on its own?..
Avatar n tn I don't have brusing, just a small scar BUT the breast that had the abscess is definitely a cup smaller than my other breast and the abscess side produces a lot less milk.
