Avatar n tn “The diagnosis of mastoiditis is clinical—based on the medical history and physical examination. Imaging studies may provide additional information; the study of choice is the CT scan, which may show focal destruction of the bone or signs of an abscess (a pocket of infection”. Avatar n tn It would be best to take her to the vet or to get something over the counter at a good pet store. A lump anywhere on a hamster is not a good sign since they can get cancer like all other species.
Avatar m tn My sister had an eardrum that burst on her over a year ago. She is wanting to fly across the country. Is this OK for her to do? Will she experience pain in that ear? Is this advisable?
Avatar f tn I wanted to ask how likely is it that the eardrum will close on its own and for how long? If not then what intervention we can do surgically and what is the success rate for you to return the ear to normal.
Avatar n tn Eardrum ruptures are not common with simple infections. However if an eardrum has broken or ruptured, they heal slowly on their own. there is no surgical correction. a simple exam by your vet will determine the situation very quickly.
Avatar m tn Judging by your description, it is most likely a fistula which is a tract that forms from the abscess of your infected tooth that escapes out to the gums. As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area. I would recommend seeing a dentist and getting treatment started.
Avatar m tn My best guess is that you are experiencing Eustachian tube dysfunction due infection, allergy, or other problem, which is preventing equalization pressure on the eardrum. This can cause sharp pains in the head -- level 10 pain -- that no pain reliever can eliminate. Scuba divers, airline pilots, and others who are subject to pressure changes call this condition 'squeeze'. If untreated, it can rupture the eardrum. It seems that everything has a website today.
Avatar n tn The effectiveness of this operation is dependant on how large the perforation (hole) is and how much tympanic membrane (eardrum) is left. Anyway for now your son has natures own grommet (PE tube) and probably a little more suseptible to infection but I have managed many children that do okay with a perforation until it grows back or is operated on. As Eric has mention previously it sounds likely that your son is suffering from Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD).
Avatar n tn I am 40 yrs old male .i had an abscess on my right hip i consult the doctor ,he suggest me an antibiotic twice for four days.after 3-4 days another abscess develop just 10mm above and again after 2-3 days 10mm another abscess develop but i am taking antibiotic regularly .what are the reason of repeating abscess & what is the permanent treatment to get rid of these.
Avatar m tn No, not cancer, at least not likely. But getting those wisdom teeth out, takes a while to clear any infection where the roots of the teeth were. I don't know why the dentist said "no" to that, because I think a little infection is going on in the tissues around the pulled wisdom teeth, maybe even an abscess.
19681496 tn?1482424837 Have you ever watched YouTube videos of ear wax removal? It can be pretty interesting, even though it's not something that most people would probably want to watch. It sounds like the ENT may have damaged your eardrum. Perhaps while trying to grab a piece of hardened earwax it cut your eardrum or caused some other damage. A ruptured eardrum will heal on it's own within a couple months, but be careful about inner ear infections as the eardrum acts as a barrier.
Avatar f tn I need help please. I have never been on an airplane before and i am really worried about my ears because one of them has a little perforation and the other has hearing loss and both become blocked with ear wax quite easily and find it very hard to get help with them. I have been to see my doctor and he hasnt really help because hes give me ear drops but it says on box do not use if you have a perforated ear drum so do not know what else to do and its only 2 weeks until i fly.
Avatar m tn 6 Weeks ago I got hit in the head on the left side near my ear, this resulted in my eardrum having a hole. After I went to ENT specialist and followed up all her advice, kept ear dry etc. However ever since I hear a ringing sound, it seems from time to time to get softer (less present). Than by accident this week I forcefully blowed my nose and the ringing (somekind of snowy sound got louder) Luckily this sound diminishes a bit this week again day by day.
Avatar f tn I honestly think the eardrum thump has something to do with stress. My best friend moved away last week because her husband got a job out of state. Yesterday was an extremely emotional day for me--missing her, and I cried a lot. That is when the 'thumping' started in my left ear in the early afternoon and on through the evening. It seems to come and go, but I am wondering if it will go away altogether after this time period of stress.
Avatar m tn I think I ruptured my eardrum pushing screwdriver too deep, ear bleeding for about 5 minutes, then stopped, after a week there is no symptoms of ruptured eardrum, should I see doctor? I really worry about it.
Avatar f tn Do any of your teeth hurt? Sounds like you have an infection or abscess. If an abscess in the teeth goes unattended the infection will spread into the jaw and cause a lump. You need to get checked out ASAP!! If left untreated, the infection will spread into your blood stream.
285045 tn?1253641328 It is annoying, and it can be a little disturbing. Feels like somebody knocking on my eardrum! Nothing really seemed to fix it, but it was always worse when I was feeling run down and fatigued.
Avatar m tn 3 days ago I competed in a bicycle race (not sure if this is connected to my situation) and a few hours after the event I noticed a small lump on my buttocks quite close to my anus. It was soar to the touch but otherwise no bother. The next morning when I woke up it doubled in sized. By the afternoon it grew to about 2 inches in length and 1 inch wide. It is firm to the touch and seems to be located a little bit under my skin but not so deep that I can not feel it well.
Avatar f tn ve picked up cycling about 40-50 miles per week along with strenuous training and noticed a solo abscess on my labia after a cycle session where I had tight fitting underwear. I popped the abscess and some white fluid came out, and it's still raised but steadily getting smaller with neosporin application. I have never had sex and the last time oral happened was late 2013.
Avatar m tn I dont think it is ruptured eardrum ,as there has been no drainage att all on my pillows, and when i yawn and lightly blow, my eardrums expand out with the increase in pressure... wouldnt this not happen if there was a hole?
Avatar f tn I'm not pregnant, but I do have a question. My husband was born deaf from his left ear. His eardrum wasn't developed, if I do become pregnant, can my baby have the same problem??
Avatar n tn I have a bum on my gum on the left side of my face behind the last tooth. Some people are saying it might be a caker sore or an abscess. The bump became bigger and I noticed a white substance inside of the bump. It grew bigger than with the help of hot water and salt it began to drain. First question what is this on my gum? How long does it take to heal? and Should I go to the dentist after it fully heals?
Avatar f tn My child has an abscess on her left lower ear area, I kept on asking her if she ever feel any pain on that area but she said never and she's not even affected by it. But I am worried cause I always touched it and even massaged it with VCO. Please help, let me know what will it cause to her health....
