Abscess on eardrum

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess on eardrum

Avatar f tn I recently ruptured my eardrum. Was on 10 days of amoxicillin. While taking the antibiotics my teeth became sore on the same side as the ruptured eardrum. My question is I've had pain in my ear jaw area before the rupture. Could my teeth being sore be a possible absess. I have a dentist appointment in a couple of weeks to have them checked. And also if it is an absess was the antibiotics I've taken last long enough to keep the absess at bay until I see the dentist.
612551 tn?1450025775 He is also very social, gets along well with other dogs and people when we walk him on a leash. He is free ranging on our property and that has not been a problem, we have a country environment with about 3 acres of mowed upper property he can roam and he's not inclined to leave, even if chasing a White Tail Deer, yes he chases deer right up to our property line and then turns around and comes back. This makes me wonder if someone dumped him in Liberty State Park, he's not a run away type.
Avatar n tn Ear discomfort is a common problem among passengers who travel by air. This is due to unequal pressure on each side of the eardrum, especially during descent. You should try yawning and sucking sweets or swallowing sips of drink to keep you comfortable. There is a maneuver called valsalva exercise where you pinch your nose and blow it gently and frequently, which also helps to equalize pressure.
Avatar n tn Usually treatment with antibiotics can cure this condition but resistant cases are treated with surgery. “The diagnosis of mastoiditis is clinical—based on the medical history and physical examination. Imaging studies may provide additional information; the study of choice is the CT scan, which may show focal destruction of the bone or signs of an abscess (a pocket of infection”. Avatar m tn to that, because I think a little infection is going on in the tissues around the pulled wisdom teeth, maybe even an abscess. If you have an abscess, you'll feel a lump in your cheek near there, or if a neighboring tooth hurts when you push on it, the dentist will have to check THAT tooth out for a cavity. At least you were given penicillin for the ear, it should also take out the bacteria where your wisdoms were, takes a couple weeks for the medicine to work.
Avatar n tn It would be best to take her to the vet or to get something over the counter at a good pet store. A lump anywhere on a hamster is not a good sign since they can get cancer like all other species.
Avatar n tn E given that I am being treated by the doctor. Needless to say I was on his door step first thing on the Monday morning and waited until after surgery to be seen by him. The doctor now believes it to be an infection in my glan around the ear and has given me more antibiotics and pain killers, but still states that I do not need a referral to ENT.
Avatar f tn I had the headaches as the original symptom and the tooth abscess was found on the CAT scan. It was a very old root canal that had the abscess. So, could this possibly be the tooth? Still? Maybe the infection isn't cleared up? I was on penicillin and then a Z pac after the tooth was extracted! This is totally consuming my life. I feel like doing nothing and all I do is worry that this is a brain tumor or something more serious.
1356979 tn?1277363210 It feels as if something is pressing on my eardrum resulting in the earache. Is all this just side affects of the meningitis. What if the meningitis was just a side effect of something else ?
745568 tn?1232853401 I had convinced myself I had a tooth abscess or something. But then it suddenly stops hurting a few hours later. Has anyone on this thread had this issue disappear completely after months or even years? I don't see how a virus could stay in the immune system for so long. Probably more likely some sort of intermittent neuralgia.
Avatar f tn I been having the same thing i would wake up and my pillow has wet pots on it where my ear has been leaking clear why is that it is sometimes a light brown and sometimes there is blood mixed in with it. and it is sometimes sticky.
Avatar f tn I tried Vicodin but got tired of being nausea, Then I was on Butalbital and that was worse-didnt help the pain. Now I have pain on the right side (tumor was left frontal). I had to start the Vicodin again to ease the pain but have to tolerate the nausea. How do you know if your brain is swelling? So many questions and no answers....
405614 tn?1329147714 We've been through all sorts of illnesses with them--one cat had cancer (spent two weeks at a vet school hospital for surgery), fell out a third story window (spent the weekend in the vet ER), and accidentally had her eardrum punctured by the vet (several days at their office for IVs), not to mention her on-going, chronic urinary problems. The other one is in chronic renal failure and it's now getting much more pronouned (he went from 16 lbs to 10!
Avatar m tn But I can't go driving around town with one hand on the wheel and the other behind my ear. I went to the ENT expecting to find out that my eardrum had burst. On the way to the office, driving with the window down, I heard snap, crackle, pop the whole way. When the doctor's assistant opened the window and the AC unit outside came on... snap, crackle, pop. Imagine my surprise when the ENT checked me out and informed me that my ears were fine.
Avatar m tn Wash off your hands with soap. The blood vessels on one side of the nose swell up with blood, on purpose, to close off that side of the nose to air. This gives the cilia in the closed nostril a chance to clean out all the pollution and mucus. When it’s clean, it opens up and the other side is closed to repeat the process. The things that swell up to close your nostrils are called turbinates. Keep this in mind when you are blowing your nose.
Avatar n tn i looked where it hurt and there is a hard bump/lump behind her ear on the bone part (not on the ear itself). i touched it and it hurts. it's about as big as an eraser on top of a pencil or a pea. it is not red or anything (skin color). i get very worried about these kind of things and will give her dr. a call but in the mean time i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what it may be? like i said, i am worried.
Avatar n tn His ENT did allergy testing on him, however, he did not have any significant allergies. Our last resort was to have PE tubes placed. This only made his symptoms worse and they took them out after a couple of weeks. Suprisingly after they took the tubes out and his ears were healing, he was symptom free. When the holes closed up he began with the same symptoms all over again.
