Abscess on abdomen

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess on abdomen

abscess

Avatar n tn Starting this March I began not feeling well only to find out after 5 repeated noncontrast use CT scans that I have a abdomen abscess. I was treated three time may-aug with 2 jp drain tubes and then a wound vac. After thinking I was o.k. through sept and oct. we have found through ct no contrast a "residual abscess". What causes this? Also why is it that some radiologist claim they cant "see" an abscess, yet its there (3.3cm x 1.6 cm) and the surgeon can look and see it?
Avatar n tn My dog has about a 1.5" round lump on her abdomen on one side. It is not firm, very soft. There are darker spots on it, and it has yellow crust on it. It's not a smooth lump, but a bit bumpy. I havent a clue what it is, and we can't call the vet until Monday. I have a photo. She is a 2 year old lab.
Avatar f tn Hi i was wandering if anyone could tell me if an abscess on the groin area was supposed to disapear completely or not, as i had what i would call an abscess on my right hand side of the groin it was only pea shaped, then grew bigger and started pussing.
1394098 tn?1385960134 Three years ago, I had an abdominal abscess. The first symptom that I had was an enlarged abdomen. I thought that I was just getting fat. Well now I'm "getting fat" in the same place even though my scale says that I haven't gained any weight. I woke up at 4 am this morning with a pain in the scar tissue from where the abscess was removed before. Is it possible to have an abscess come back again after three years? The abscess that I had before was fairly large and deep.
Avatar f tn It seems she had caught all of her doctors (even her PCP) flat footed. She had a huge abscess in her abdomen and had shown none of the normal signs. The surgeon had to re-open her abdomen and surgically remove the abscess because the infection was too thick to do it any other way. Since that surgery my wife's health has done a complete turn around. She's back to having severe abdominal pain (Sometimes I'll find her bent over in so much pain).
Avatar f tn I also had surgical stitches come out of a pimple like infection on my abdomen. Answer- your body is pushing out the (foreign) stitch so it causes the abscess to expel the stitch. Once stitch was removed, infection cleared up fast.
Avatar f tn Pain in abdomen can be serious and needs urgent medical attention. Some of the common causes of pain in abdomen are hepatitis or hepatic abscess, cholecystitis, perforated duodenal ulcers, appendicitis, diverticulitis, adenitis, abdominal abscess or hematoma, inflammatory bowel disease etc. You must consult a gastroenterologist as soon as possible for proper examination with tests like ultrasound, blood tests, biochemical tests etc.
Avatar f tn I am experiencing pain on my left side near the abdoman area from front to back. The skin there is tender to the touch. My stomach seems to be swollen. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Hello, The various possibilities which present with such pain in the lower left abdomen are appendicitis or diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, bowel obstruction, ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome , kidney obstruction or pyelonephritis, psoas abscess and volvolus (twisting of the sigmoid part of the large bowel on itself). Investigations like ultrasound abdomen, CT abdomen and colonoscopy are required to confirm a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn t gotten any better and it seems to be more intense after I eat anything. I had an ultrasound on my upper abdomen that showed nothing and then had a HIDA scan to look at my gallbladder function. This also came back normal. Am I missing something? I'm beginning to second guess my decision in doctors. They now want me to see a GI specialist. I'm not sure how much more of this pain I can take nor do I know how many other tests I can afford. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Avatar f tn It started in an ice hockey game and got progressively worse. The pain has now spread all on the left side reaching up to my ribcage. Sometimes it's a severe stabbing pain or throbbing. I had blood work done and an abdominal ultrasound which all came back normal. I've been cleared to play ice hockey and take a lot of ibuprofen but it really feels like something is just not right. The left side seems more swollen and a little tender.
Avatar n tn 2 weeks after the appendectomy, I was re-admitted for an abscess in my lower abdomen, about the size of a grapefruit, it was drained successfully (5 more days hospitalization), and I believe it hasn't come back - the hospital did a CBC blood count test a week after I was discharged and it turned out normal. I don't "feel" the pressing abscess anymore. One problem that hasn't really gone away is the dull tenderness and heaviness I have in my mid abdomen.
Avatar f tn You will need to get urine examination and an ultrasound or CT scan of the abdomen. Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen just below and to the left of navel can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. Since you do not have a lump or a tender hot spot, in all probability it is not a muscle.
Avatar m tn about once per month i get this severe pain in the upper right side of my abdomen. nothing seems to help it so i just have to wait for the pain to subside, which usually takes about 5-8 hours. The pain is bad enough that i can't sleep and usually just spend the night walking around because that seems to dull the pain a little bit. At first I thought that it would be from eating spicy foods and at first after cutting them out of my diet it worked, but lately the pain has returned.
Avatar n tn Hi... usually appendcitis can be diagnosed clinically. It presents firstly as a generalized abdominal pains which later shifts to the right lower quadrant. Some physical exam findings which support its diagnosis includes rebound tenderness, orbturator's sign, psoas sign. You can also present with fever. If the doctor said it was not, probably he/she must have noted that you don't have an acute abdomen. And since you are a female, it can also be UTI.
1294692 tn?1272396869 What did they do about the abscess last year? It might have caused scarring, and scar tissue (adhesions) on an ovary can hurt like heck when you ovulate. If your doctor suggests it, you might consider removing that ovary. (If there is a lot of complex infection-related residual scarring and so forth there, it's not the best side to ovulate from, anyway, because of the risk of ectopic pregnancy.) If you do remove it, the other ovary would do the work of both.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, i recently developed pain in my lower abdomen, the soreness is usually on left and right sides on my lower abdomen, no pain in the middle part. I was wondering if anyone have experienced the same thing and what might it be.
Avatar n tn i am just suggesting here. see a doctor to know whats going on your body. after i that pain occurs with me, i let my doctor checked me right away, and it came out that im having a UTI but in mild case. so i get well just for a couple of days. don't make the situation worst. Go to doctor ASAP.
Avatar m tn Prescribed me Bactrim DS (sulfa) March 25 - 28th On a 3 day trip, same mild fever, developed pain with eye movement, headache, abscess area was still mildly painful. March 28th returning from the trip my fever spiked at 101.6 and I had rigors. That night I awoke at 1am "freezing" with rigors. March 30th I still had the mild fever. Got out of the shower and noticed a rash developing on my upper arms and legs. I went back to the Dr.

Avatar m tn Four months ago I developed pain in my lower left abdomen. It felt like a tearing/cutting pain and was quite localized. My bowel habits remained the same, but my G.P. thought it might be IBS and prescribed buscopan and trimebutine. They didn't have any effect and the pain got worse, particularly when I was sitting or physically active. When the pain began to radiate into my groin and left testicle my G.P. sent me for a C.T. scan.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago I started getting sharp pains in my upper left abdomen. Two days after the pain started, I noticed that I was started to have significant swelling in the area. Two weeks have gone by and it's bigger still. Now it's a hard lump that is about 3.5 inches across and 1 inch high. I went to the doctor last week, and he had me do an ultrasound.
