Hi, I have a small hole on each side of my ear and the one on my right ear is the active one that secretes white stuff that smell pretty bad. So I watched a video on youtube about preauricular sinus infection and I learned that it could lead to the formation of abscess. When I was young, I didn't know what the hole was and I often got very irritated with it when it had secretions.
I developed this lump under my skin near my right ear/jawline. It has been present for approximately 3 months and has doubled in size and is now approximately the size of a quarter.
It started during a shingles episode, although I did not have a shingles outbreak in this part of my body. However, it started as neck fullness in that area which developed into a lump along my jaw line area that has persistently gotten larger over the past 3 months.
well i am pretty self aware and two days ago i noticed a kidney bean shaped soft bump directly behind my left ear. it took less than a day to go from nothing to bean sized. it is soft for the most part, if i feel near the top of it, it feels kinda hard, like a layer under the puss maybe. i can move it a little, definetly feels like it is filled with puss. i have in the past had a bump appear, only to shrink and harden and eventualy i will forget about it, i had one on my upper eyelid.
No, not cancer, at least not likely. But getting those wisdom teeth out, takes a while to clear any infection where the roots of the teeth were. I don't know why the dentist said "no" to that, because I think a little infection is going on in the tissues around the pulled wisdom teeth, maybe even an abscess.
My child has an abscess on her left lower ear area, I kept on asking her if she ever feel any pain on that area but she said never and she's not even affected by it. But I am worried cause I always touched it and even massaged it with VCO. Please help, let me know what will it cause to her health....
Lump behind the ear could be an abscess, folliculitis (hair follicle infection), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a cyst, an inflamed lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue). You may not have been sick but local infections like dandruff or a dermatitis too can cause a lymph node to swell and be tender. Please consult your PCP and get this examined. Take care!
I just recently got a lump under my skin near the bottom of my butt crack. I had it for about 3 days. Its about the size of a 50 cents piece, and its hard and sore. Its very very sore in one spot. I haven't noticed a change in my skin color. I've read that it could be from an infection of some sort. An ear piercing that I have got infected from using non gold about a week ago.

Hi! You probably have a boil or abscess on your ear lobe. Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too. In your case in all probability it is the outer ear infection.
ve been having some pain in my jaw (not affiliated with a tooth) and today I noticed a swollen bump right on the jaw line on the right hand side in between the chin and the back part of the jaw near the ear. The pain has been throbbing and has radiated all along the right side of my face, primarily including the inner right ear, the right temple, and of course the right side of my jaw.
I agree with the other two comments. An abscess can cause pain through your entire mouth, near the ear, eye, etc. Sometimes the pain is so bad overall that you can't even tell which tooth is bothering you. You would definitely need antibiotics to clear the infection and then take care of the problem itself. If you can't get in to see your dentist on an emergency basis, the ER will give you something to help until you can get into the dentist.

You do not say whether your doctor prescribed you an antibiotic to take by mouth or antibiotic ear drops. If not, then you should get back to your doctor to get a prescription to treat the abscess.
I feel that the pain that you are experiencing in the front side of your head is likely to be related to the infection in the ear canal and is to do with blocked or infected sinuses.
You can help to relieve any congestion that can cause these symptoms by doing steam inhalations.
Soon after I had internatal vibrations (head and arms), tightening around neck area, ear and gum pressure and some vision problems. I have had a clear MRI and all blood work came back ok apart from B12 level of 120 and low calcium and vitamin d level, but after taking suppliments these levels rectified themselves. Therefore my doctor has ruled out vitamin deficiencies and the neurologist also seems think there is nothing seriously wrong.
You need to run a test for moniliasis to rule this out. It could also be due to caries in tooth, abscess in gums, pyorrhea, abscess in cheek, or infection of internal ear. It could also be due to osteomyelitis of the jaw bone or due to involvement of temporomandibular joint.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. You would need to consult a dentist and an ENT specialist for this. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

However swollen lymphnodes behind your ears could be due to chest infection, tonsillitis or pharyngitis, dandruff, or infection of ear.
The inflamed nodes settle down with time. However, it is important you consult a doctor and get this examined.
I noticed my dogs face near her cheek is swollen and her neck on the same side is also swollen, its soft in her neck not hard. It wasnt a gradual growth i just notices it last night. Shes acting completly normal shell let me touch it. She does have bad teeth but my vet has never been able to check her mouth for as long as ive had her. I adopted her and she not very nice with other people (we have to muzzle her and sedate her prior to going to the vet).
Any ideas of what could be causing this?
My 9 month old cat recently had an abscess that burst on his side. I took him to the vet two days ago and he was put on amoxicillin. Today, right next to the burst abscess there is another abscess formed. There are not visible wounds so there is nowhere to drain from. He does not feel warm to touch on his nose or his ears. The vet is closed for two days and there are no emergency clinics near me. Please offer advice on how to help my Oliver.
