Common Questions and Answers about Abscess nasal

abscess

Avatar f tn My dentist took an x-ray of my mouth and found no sign of a tooth abscess, even though when she drilled the infected tooth (which had a filling), there was a foul smell, indicating an abscessed tooth. There is also a swelling below my left jaw, and it is difficult to swallow and open my mouth. The dentist didn't explain much regarding why the x-Ray didn't reflect the tooth abscess.
Avatar n tn sounds like u might have post nasal drip that may have developed into reflux....please see ur PCP for a complete check up as this condition left untreated can cause more issues. The other thing the lump may be is a goiter....have ur thyroid checked as well....but I really think u may have a reflux issue.
868949 tn?1239589229 * Furuncle or carbuncle -- An abscess in the skin caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. It can have one or more openings onto the skin and may be associated with a fever or chills. They are less common than single boils; they are most likely to form at the back of the neck and in males. Carbuncles can form in the same areas as boils, and may also form on the scalp, face, and buttocks. Furunculosis is a word that is sometimes used to refer to recurrent boils.
Avatar n tn A lump in the throat could be a cyst, an abscess, a swollen lymphnode or an area of localized inflammation due to post nasal drip or reflux of gastric contents. Since you drink, possibility of reflux are high. Please consult an ENT and get this investigated. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have a very interesting case: I was hospitilised after having a abscess on my lung. I was on strong antibiotics, despite this I got cold fever with fever running into the 40, The doctors cannot figure out whatn is happening to me as blood tests shows that I have a bacterial infection.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, for 5 years I've been haunted by this abscess in my groin/labia. It comes and goes, sometimes it's gigantic (REALLY) and sometimes just a painful, red, inflamed, deep seated "nodule" (so it doesn't disfigure me completely, but still makes it awfully painful to walk). I had the abscess drained at the hospital once (never again, the anestesia hurt like hell and did not numb the area at all... urgh!) and the material (the pus) was sent for culture....
Avatar f tn The “booger” may be a nasal polyp or a foreign body, since kids place a variety of things in their ears and nose, with associated infection. If the doctor is unable to remove this “object” or if it turns out to be an abscess, it may have to be surgically excised. Hope this got resolved.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Sleep on your side or abdomen rather than on your back. And keep your nasal passages open at night. Saline nasal spray may help keep the nasal passages open. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have a tooth (4th upper to the right) which had long ago been root-canaled. Several years ago I noticed it had an abscess. There was also periodic (about once a month) white pus discharge from the gum above. A dentist did a retreatment of the root canal. The pus stopped, however there was still a swelling and the tooth was still giving me problems after a year passed and the swelling remained.
Avatar m tn It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications. Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate causing cough. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
Avatar n tn 20 yrs recurrent boils with multiple surgical removal. Now the abscess(s) have greatly multiplied, will not drain, appear like woms just below skin surface & spead to nasal cavity, chin, & forehead. there is much tunneling, great pain, and this wormlike infection will come out of central hole but burrows back in immediately & seems to have sharp spikey tennacles.
Avatar f tn Throat pain, difficulty swallowing, fever, scratchiness in the throat, post nasal drip, malaise and loss of appetite are symptoms of tonsillitis. It can be caused by bacteria like streptococcus or it could be a viral infection. Bacterial infections need antibiotics. Infections in the throat cause lymph node enlargement. As, it is subsiding with the infection, it is the most likely cause.
Avatar m tn after a bang to right side of my head in 2004 Ive had clear smelly fluid leaking from my nose, worse on right side, the side I banged my head. Also nasal cavity is red and sore, again worse on right side. Fluid leaking from my eyes and eyelashes fall out as my eyes are gritty and sore. Have a dent on right side of my forehead where I banged it. Pain is horrendous. Had brain scan and CFC scan but both came back as clear.
Avatar n tn Other conditions like ear infections, sinusitis and dental abscess can also present as pain and pressure in the temple region. The possibility of sinusitis is more if you have nasal congestion. I would suggest you to get a clinical evaluation done by your GP. Keep us posted.
480331 tn?1310403529 Plant awns and other foreign objects can get lodged in side her nasal cavity leading to sensitivity and usually sneezing. Look through her skin carefully in that area for any small skin lesions such as a scratch or bite from another animal which could lead to a pocket of bacteria and an abscess. Dr.
Avatar n tn He decided on root canal and called the endodontist (appt is for Thursday). The dentist showed me the film and although the tooth root looks okay (no black area of abscess), there is a "white ring shadow" above the tooth root. He said that is indicative of a sinus problem. He asked if I had a cold or sinus infection but I haven't had any cold or nasal drip for years.
Avatar m tn I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban. The original sore that was on my cheek never dried out, instead shrinking from the Bactroban.
Avatar f tn - I say it like that because I have had the scratch test and injections and did not show to have any seasonal allergies. However, with my sore throat I have a lot of post nasal drip (possible cause of sore throat?). I take a combo of ibuphrophen, tylenol, and musinex to manage the pain. About 7 years ago I had reoccurring tonsillitis, saw an ENT and he put me on a strong antibiotic for 3 weeks.
Avatar n tn What makes these episodes even more unpleasant is that, after even the mildest cold or upper respiratory infection, I almost always end up with a cough that lasts for weeks or months afterward. (It appears to be due to a post-nasal drip that exacerbates some kind of underlying allergies. Asthma, coughing asthma, reactive airways disorder, and acid reflux have been more or less ruled out as the cause of the cough.) Anyway, today my ENT suggested that I consider having my tonsils removed.
Avatar m tn s without the terrible grammar, could you have sinusitis starting infection based or blockage based moderate sinusitis, and another potential you have a yet unpronounced only mildly presenting abscess in your mouth that explains nasal issues head pain teeth discomfort
Avatar f tn About 4 hours later, her face had become about 3 times bigger than it was this morning. She obviously has an abscess tooth and since she has other health issues i am quite concerned that this infection could make her very ill or worse.
Avatar f tn The other possibility is deviated nasal septum. Nasal polyps and tumors, worms in stool causing high eosinophil counts, gastric reflux are the other causes. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar m tn I am 35 years old, and had my wisdom teeth removed when I was 24. But that's not why I'm posting. My current problem started roughly 3 or 4 years ago. My upper right 1st molar had a filling in it...the filling broke, and the dentist I used to have drilled it out and put a very large filling in. Even since that fateful day, I've had problems on and off. For the first 6 months or so, the tooth was tender and my maxillary sinus would hurt.
1806721 tn?1554333407 I've had a root canal and an extraction/implant done many years ago. Recently, my tooth pain came back to bother me and it's sensitive to hot/cold water. Yesterday, all of a sudden, I came down with flu-like symptoms - fever (101+), shivering chills, severe body aches and headache, loss of appetite. I don't have other cold symptoms like nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, etc. My fever broke earlier today.
Avatar n tn Although the antibiotics may kill the bacteria that is causing the abscess, if the core of the abscess does not come to the surface or is not removed by the doctor or the nurse, the abscess will continue to fester. Apply a hot compress to draw the abscess to the surface. If there is no broken skin on the abscess, you can purchase magnesium sulphate from the pharmacy and apply this to the abscess. This is a drawing ointment and can only be used on unbroken skin.
Avatar m tn While I was on interferon therapy and my resistance was low, I developed an abscess on my buttock that was drained and healed. For several months now I have had pain that feels deeper in the tissue, possibly in the ischeum. It has never come to a point and there is no drainage that I can detect. I cannot see any external signs of swelling or redness. Have not been feverish recently. Could this be an ischiorectal abscess or possibly pudental nerve pain?
Avatar f tn My 9 month old cat recently had an abscess that burst on his side. I took him to the vet two days ago and he was put on amoxicillin. Today, right next to the burst abscess there is another abscess formed. There are not visible wounds so there is nowhere to drain from. He does not feel warm to touch on his nose or his ears. The vet is closed for two days and there are no emergency clinics near me. Please offer advice on how to help my Oliver.
