Avatar n tn The s/sx progressed to sinus pressure swollen glands, cough runny nose with yellow sputum from cough and nasal. I began to feel better so nixed Dr. visit as my insurance had not started. Two days ago I began having swelling in my gums. Yesterday I found a discolored area on my gums above my front right tooth. Avatar n tn I've had allergies/sinus problems for years. My left nasal cavity has had swelling in the lower area for years, despite prescription decongestants, nasal sprays, antihistamines, prednisone, etc. A few days ago I awoke sneezing. My nose was draining (one side) a honey-colored to bright yellow liquid. This was not thick mucous. Upon inspecting the inside of my nose the swollen area was completely gone. It was as if a water balloon popped and I had these flapping balloon pieces left.
Avatar f tn About 4 hours later, her face had become about 3 times bigger than it was this morning. She obviously has an abscess tooth and since she has other health issues i am quite concerned that this infection could make her very ill or worse.
Avatar m tn how do you know if the sores inside your nose that you feel are an abscess or fungal infection?
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, for 5 years I've been haunted by this abscess in my groin/labia. It comes and goes, sometimes it's gigantic (REALLY) and sometimes just a painful, red, inflamed, deep seated "nodule" (so it doesn't disfigure me completely, but still makes it awfully painful to walk). I had the abscess drained at the hospital once (never again, the anestesia hurt like hell and did not numb the area at all... urgh!) and the material (the pus) was sent for culture....
Avatar f tn My dentist took an x-ray of my mouth and found no sign of a tooth abscess, even though when she drilled the infected tooth (which had a filling), there was a foul smell, indicating an abscessed tooth. There is also a swelling below my left jaw, and it is difficult to swallow and open my mouth. The dentist didn't explain much regarding why the x-Ray didn't reflect the tooth abscess. When we asked about the swelling in my jaw, she answered (rather uncertainly) maybe, it was because of trauma?
Avatar n tn The pain in my groin and testicle went away, but the muscle-joint pain remained, nasal drip is also associated with the muscle pain ,it drips worse when the pain is worse. Groin-testicle pain came back in March but subsided again, also began to get a cold tingly feeling on the skin where I was having pain, which would come and go. Middle of March had another blood test WBC/Sed-normal. I have been tested for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, with negative results.
Avatar f tn Keeping the abscess for long time might have caused this.I would suggest don't take any medicine further on your own now.Visit the dentist near you as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn They usually do not cause any symptoms. But sometimes they can cause bad breath, bad taste and nasal discharge. Also, if infected they can form an abscess. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn The earlier the better.A tooth abscess is usually a complication of tooth decay. In a dental abscess, or tooth abscess there is accumulation of pus inside the teeth or gums. The abscess usually originates from a bacterial infection and is mostly caused by a dental infection. The common presenting complaints are severe toothache, breath odour, fever, pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling of gums, swollen glands etc.

Avatar n tn The persistent blockage could be caused by either viral infection, allergy possibly with the development of benign masses, called nasal polyps, or just a benign tumor. Persistence of nasal obstruction for 3 months strongly suggests that whatever this is, it is not going to resolve spontaneously. You should arrange to see an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist for accurate diagnosis and appropriate therapy. Good luck.
Avatar n tn A lump in the throat could be a cyst, an abscess, a swollen lymphnode or an area of localized inflammation due to post nasal drip or reflux of gastric contents. Since you drink, possibility of reflux are high. Please consult an ENT and get this investigated. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hi Welcome to the forum! The lump or bump could be a swollen or inflamed nasal turbinate or a boil or an abscess. Neosporin ointment that you are applying can help. Along with this take an anti-inflammatory for a day or two. If the symptoms persist or do not improve, please consult your doctor. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hi, How are you? What other symptoms are present? Nasal discharge may be attributed to a variety of issues such as bacterial infection, colds, sinusitis, head injury and allergic reaction. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation and to rule out tooth infection or abscess. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Having some unusual pain/discomfort that I am growing more and more concerned about. Thought it was an abscess tooth. Had the tooth removed, but the discomfort did not go away. Having some facial discomfort under the R cheek. No congestion in the nasal area. Slight blurry vision in the right eye. Feel some pressure behind it. The majority of the R side of my head now has a feeling like pressure.
Avatar n tn sounds like u might have post nasal drip that may have developed into reflux....please see ur PCP for a complete check up as this condition left untreated can cause more issues. The other thing the lump may be is a goiter....have ur thyroid checked as well....but I really think u may have a reflux issue.
Avatar n tn I had a facelift a year ago. I had my nasal labial folds plumped with fat from my abdomen. I had significant swelling. Now that the swelling has gone down, I notice a twitch on the right side of my face at the nasal labial area and a little swelling. My surgeon says it has nothing to do with the surgery but I do not buy it. I did have a tooth abcess a few months after the surgery and had significant swelling from that.
Avatar f tn Do you have problems with acid reflux? It also may be post nasal drip coming down from your sinuses. Floss your gums and if there is no blood, then your gums are fine. You may have an infection in the sinuses and this drips down and accumulates in the throat when you are lying down and sleeping. Do you experience headaches or congestion with a blocked nose? If so then you may have sinusitis. Steam inhalations will help, a nasal spray will help to decongest too.
Avatar m tn These symptoms can be due to post nasal drip which can cause laryngitis .In such cases nasal steroids and saline rinse helps . Your symptoms could be attributed to GERD.In this condition the acid contents of the stomach come up into the esophagus. For this along with OTC antacids, you can try lifestyle measures like take frequent small meals. Eat dinner about two hours before sleeping. Elevate the head end of the bed.

Carbuncles can form in the same areas as boils, and may also form on the scalp, face, and buttocks. Furunculosis is a word that is sometimes used to refer to recurrent boils.
Avatar n tn I presume the CAT scan is to identify any pockets indicative of an abscess that may be present about the nasal area. This might help in draining and treating the infection. However, her physician should be forthright to her about why this test is necessary and what his/her thinking is regarding the treatment of this complication.
369592 tn?1198515304 Other possibilities include heart disease, hepatomegaly or lung disease, a lesion in his nose, a nasal foreign body, tooth root abscess or allergies, and other, more unusual possibilities. The problems could be unrelated. Therefore, he really needs to have appropriate blood work and X-Rays and another exam. I hope you that your dog is on a grain free, high protein diet for his diabetes and to help him lose weight. Essiac tea plus (available on line) is helpful for diabetes also.
Avatar f tn The “booger” may be a nasal polyp or a foreign body, since kids place a variety of things in their ears and nose, with associated infection. If the doctor is unable to remove this “object” or if it turns out to be an abscess, it may have to be surgically excised. Hope this got resolved.
1797272 tn?1315690700 Hello, There are a few possibilities for such kind of lump under the left ear. First possibility is of a boil or an abscess. It can also be a swollen lymph node like a submandibular lymph node which has swollen in response to nasal and sinus infections. The other possibility is of parotid gland infection which can be due to mumps or parotitis due to bacterial or viral causes or a stone in the salivary duct. Apply warm compresses, keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics.
Avatar n tn 20 yrs recurrent boils with multiple surgical removal. Now the abscess(s) have greatly multiplied, will not drain, appear like woms just below skin surface & spead to nasal cavity, chin, & forehead. there is much tunneling, great pain, and this wormlike infection will come out of central hole but burrows back in immediately & seems to have sharp spikey tennacles.
Avatar m tn Sleep on your side or abdomen rather than on your back. And keep your nasal passages open at night. Saline nasal spray may help keep the nasal passages open. Take care and do keep us posted.
