Common Questions and Answers about Abscess liver symptoms

Avatar n tn While chemotherapy drugs do cause some form of lowering of the activity of one's immune system that may predispose to infection (or abscesses), it is rather very hard to conclude just by appearance if these two spots in your liver is indeed an abscess. Abscesses of the liver would present with right upper quadrant pain, fever and elevated temperature with chills, and an overall 'ill' feeling. If you don't have any of these symptoms then it may be unlikely that this is an abscess.

Avatar n tn Mass on the liver can be due to numerous causes like haemangioma, hepatocellular cancer, metastatic cancer, liver cell adenoma, pyogenic abscess, amoebic abscess, cyst, focal nodular hyperplasia, hydatid disease, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis etc.The symptoms can be related to many of these conditions mentioned above. Liver haemangioma is also a common condition which is usually discovered during a test or procedure for other condition. But it is usually asymptomatic.
Avatar m tn To reach a diagnosis in your case, it is necessary to discuss the findings of this scan with your physician, and in the context of clinical symptoms, physical examination and liver function tests.
Avatar n tn Hi, The lesions in the liver could be simple cysts which wouldn't progress over time or destroy the liver. Another possibility is an infection, an abscess - you should review your travel and exposure history to chronic infections like tuberculosis. It is unlikely to get a melanoma on the trunk, it usually involves a sun-exposed area. Looking at your internet handle, massissam, doesn't quite sound like a Caucasian with a lot of freckles (this would be the skin type most at risk for melanoma).
Avatar m tn Could you think of any other disease or situation that would lead me to have symptoms like these? I haven't told my doctor about all my symptoms yet, but I do plan on seeing him Friday. The visit I had with him in January was very short, and he just wanted me to get a CBC and xray at the time. I meant to discuss ALL my symptoms, but I guess I was anxious and thought anything wrong would just come up in the blood work.

Avatar m tn It sounds more like fat accumulation/malabsorption, which could be an issue with your liver. Could the liver be ailing from an infected tooth, I do not know. Last thought that comes to mind is Candida yeast overgrowth. No idea if this could be connected to the tooth, also. The only way to truly know is talk with a doctor and have tests done.
Avatar n tn 6cm hypodense lesion in the central liver that demonstrates mild peripheral nodular enhancement - prob. represents a hemangioma. Also a proximal 1.0 cm hypovascular lesion in the anterolateral periphery of the right lobe - given hypervascularity it may represent a focal nodular hyperplasia. My questions are: 1. My severe GI symptoms started right after catheterization - could the hematoma have caused these symptoms? I have no prior history of GI problems. 2.
Avatar f tn I don't know for sure what your problem is but you need to get some blood work done such as a complete blood count, BUN, creatinine and chemistry panel and cardiac and liver enzymes and scans done such as a gallbladder, liver, kidney ultrasound . I don't think the IBS has anything to do with the other symptoms. Pain from the kidneys can be deferred to the front such as under your ribs. Congestive heart failure is usually when your are older but I'm not sure if it is always the case.
Avatar n tn The ones Ive seen/read about who had just their gallbladder out...it didnt help their symptoms. I think the liver hemangiomas are caused by a hormonal imbalance. I just read Dr. Michael Platt (I believe it was??) book regarding hormones/bio-identical hormones with stories from his patients and I think you will actually relate to the stories. I know I did. It was a big eye opener for me. He is a traditionally trained MD but really has a unique ...and in my opinion...
2085202 tn?1373203340 Hi again, I totally made a mistake it is a liver abscess that my sister in law had not a cyst. So you don't have to go to the ER. But you should treated with antibiotics if you have diverticulitis (not diverticulosis). I hope I didn't totally freak you out. THey won't have to drain the cyst. I don't know why I thought this was the same. I couldn't erase the last message.

Avatar f tn Consult a Urologist for further evaluation and management. In fatty liver there is fat in the liver, along with inflammation and damage. You should refrain from taking alcohol, as this will cause further injury to the liver. Fatty liver due to alcoholism is called Alcoholic fatty liver disease and the other one is Non alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is due to obesity, diabetes and high triglyceride levels.
Avatar n tn But higher-than-normal levels of these liver enzymes should not be automatically equated with liver disease. They may mean liver problems or they may not. For example, elevations of these enzymes can occur with muscle damage. The interpretation of elevated AST and ALT levels depends upon the entire medical evaluation of the patient. It is best done by doctors experienced in evaluating liver disease and muscle disease. Were you diagnosed with hepatitis C?
Avatar m tn Few other conditions that mimic appendicitis are Meckel's diverticulitis, PID, inflammatory diseases of the right upper abdomen like perforated duodenal ulcer, gall baldder disease, liver abscess etc.Right-sided diverticulitis and kidney diseases also present with similar symptoms.. A physical examination and ultrasound may be necessary for correct diagnosis and management. See a doctor. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Best luck and regards!
