Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar m tn Ultrasound showed, gall bladder, kidneys, pancreas, spleen and liver normal in size. No dilatation of the common bile duct. Liver has coarsening of the echo texture. Probable fatty infiltration of the liver.
Avatar m tn The fact that your son does not have any respiratory problems or other signs of illness is reassuring, and probably indicates that the current antibiotic treatment is at least keeping the liver abscess from getting worse, and may be adequately treating the abscess. Over time, the CRP should continue to drop as the infection is treated.
Avatar f tn I've had an abscess (it's draining and draining and draining) for about 10 years, but it hasn't gone away totally yet, but it's much better than it was initially. I take cod liver oil with butter oil and try to avoid eating a lot of sugar and refined flour. I do have high blood pressure which I heard that it may be caused by a long term infection, so it's something to watch out for. That is SO great your abscess has healed!
Avatar f tn Impression: Diffuse liver parenchymal disease consistent with cirrhosis with portal venous hypertension and portal vein thrombosis. Ill defined mass like lesion in the right hepatic lobe. I hope that you can help me with this because I need a clear understanding of what are we gonna do next. And is there a treatment or medicine o this? Thank you.
950299 tn?1253466522 High guys, I'm new and would like to know what the stage reference pertains to, liver damage? Haven't started treatment yet, trying to learn.
Avatar m tn Okay, so I found out that it was an early stage abscess. I've had the first stage root canal done. Meaning the dentist just drilled out the pulp and filled it with temp filling. He said my abscess should go away by itself. It's been a week and the abscess has not gone down at all. Should I be worried? I have another appointment in a few days. Just wondering since my dentist doesn't seem to like telling me things. And he doesn't seem to really care for that matter.
Avatar m tn Stage 4 is when the cancer has spread to other organs and/or tissues such as the brain, bone, liver or lungs. It is stated that Stage 4 has a 5 year survival rate of only 16%. Please keep in mind that this varies according to the location of the metastisis. I personally know of survivors of many years with mets to the bone. It would also depend on your Mother's general health and what treatment will be prescribed.
Avatar m tn Dear Guys, I developed abscess three times with in two weeks interval in my groin area.....the last two were big and required surgery with full ansthesia. My doc therefore suggested to escape the shot at least for one week so i did not take the shot last week. I continued to take it again but I developed another abscess on the preannal position. I am afraid it will force me to discontinue the therapy. Has any one exprienced such problem during therapy?
Avatar f tn They had to remove a portion of my liver with the tumor. I have been having extreme pain on my right side by my liver. I got a CT scan & they found a lot of scar tissue on my liver & they also found a cyst. Could the scar tissue and/or cyst be causing that pain?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if you know why you developed the abscess to start with? Have you had recent liver/gallbladder surgery, or hepatitis A,B, or C? You should be having Liver function tests being done to track your progress, and if you haven't, get tested for Hepatitis C. If your liver was simply inflamed from the infection, it should reduce in size eventually (since the infection is gone) unless you have an underlying problem like cirrhosis. I hope this answers your question a little...
Avatar f tn Was told my gallbladder looks normal ( had ct scan with contrast injection) but was asked to come back for an ultrasound I did, which apparently showed enlarged bile ducts, Doc ordered a MRCT which apparently showed multiple liver cysts I am currently waiting for an appt. with a Gastroenterologist, which while frustrating for me seems to be not such a big deal to the docs. Any ideas on what may be going on for me? Can liver cysts be the cause of my symptoms?
Avatar n tn My husband has been diagnosed with chronic Hepatitis B about three years ago, following the passing of his father who had the disease which developed into liver cancer. He has been on antiretroviral therapy eversince, with Baraclude, to be specific. At first, his viral count continued to go down, but his last DNA test showed a slight elevation in viral count compared to the test before that.
Avatar m tn Abscesses can also affect the brain, kidneys, liver (hepatic abscess), lungs, teeth (dental abscess), and tonsils (peritonsillar abscess). Inflammation surrounding hair follicles can lead to the formation of abscesses. Skin abscesses are often referred to as boils. Unlike other infections, antibiotics alone will not cure an abscess. In general, abscesses must open and drain to improve.
Avatar f tn 2 x ULN, then, observe for 3-6 months and treat if no spontaneous HBeAg loss. Consider liver biopsy prior to treatment if compensated. Immediate treatment if icteric or clinical decompensation. IFNa/pegIFNa, LAM, ADV, ETV, TDF or LdT may be used as initial therapy. ADV not preferred due to weak antiviral activity and high rate of resistance after 1st year. LAM and LdT not preferred due to high rate of drug resistance. End-point of treatment – Seroconversion from HBeAg to anti-HBe.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if its really necessary to take antibiotics every time I get an abscess? I got an abscess last Saturday and on Monday my breast surgeon drained it and put me on antibiotics for 10 days. And now I have another abscess that appeared while on the antibiotics. I'm going back tomorrow to see the surgeon and know when she sees the other abscess she's gonna put me on antibiotics again. Just wondering if this is the protocol for everyone?
Avatar n tn I have hepatitis B and have an abscess in my liver. My doctor is monitoring my ALT and the number was down to 80 from 200. Does that mean I have an acute hepatitis B? If my ALT would normalize does it mean I have chronic hepatitis B?
