Avatar f tn Hi, I have what I am 99% sure is a Bartholin Cyst or abscess since it is painful, tender & swollen. I am a medical technician who spent 2 years treating regular abscess' so I kind of know what I am in for but have never dealt with the bartholin gland type. I am worried because I know that it is very difficult to anesthetize and abscess locally. I am hoping I am not too late for antibiotic/ sitz bath therapy.

Avatar m tn She woke up one week later and she had a new liver and weighed fifty pounds more than she did which affected her physical mobility and now she is 15lbs below her pre-transplant/liver failure weight which is 65lbs less than when she woke up on June 24th (transplant June 20th). It would be a big adjustment for anyone. She has been seen by two psychiatrists and the entire psych. team since she woke up and they all felt this was not an intentional overdose.
Avatar n tn those are high on the list of possibilities for postop jaundice. There are other more rare situations, such as clotting of the vein to the liver, abscess under the liver, etc. I'd assume the surgeon is aggresively investigating these possibilities.
Avatar n tn This fluid can be due to any trauma, obstruction of bile duct, infection, abscess, cirrhosis, autoimmune diseases, heart failure etc.Pneumonia, kidney and liver disease, heart failure and autoimmune diseases all can have pleural effusion. A clinical correlation is very important for confirming the diagnosis.Discuss this report with your gastroenterologist and get your doubts clarified. I hope it helps. Keep me posted. Avatar f tn For now, you can take motrin and or tylenol in safe doses if there is no liver failure or liver problems. Also, if you take ground cloves and mix it in completely with about a dime size of toothpaste until it is well blended/mixed together. Then put it where the tooth hurts, within 10 minutes you should start feeling relief. It is safe and will help.
Avatar f tn congestive heart failure, cholestasis (congestion of the bile ducts), cirrhosis, hepatitis, liver ischemia (low blood flow), high alcohol intake, liver necrosis, liver tumor, hepatotoxic drugs (drugs toxic to liver). Since GGT levels improved after stopping Questran, it was probably drug related.
Avatar f tn Perhaps a cyst or liver abscess. They see cirrhosis (inflammation) of the liver. They look for any abnormalities such as a tumor. I don't think you have that but they look anyway. I'm not sure what else. Perhaps a clogged port or something? You don't have yellowing of the eyes or skin right?Any tenderness in the liver area? Have you traveled outside the country lately? Glad your Hepatitis tests were negative. One time I thought I had coccidodes.
Avatar f tn It is overdose that cause problems, and they can be serious to the point of fulminate liver failure requiring transplant, or even becoming fatal. NSAIDs, on the other hand, are not good for long term use. My doctor has steered me away from them. The active narcotics in the pain reliever (hydrocodone, for Vicodin and Lortab) are not harmful to the liver as far as I know.
Avatar n tn mass effect such as brain tumor, infarction with edema, contusions, subdural or epidural hematoma, or abscess all tend to deform the adjacent brain. generalized brain swelling can occur in ischemic-anoxia states, acute liver failure, hypertensive encephalopathy, pseudotumor cerebri, hypercarbia, and Reye hepatocerebral syndrome. These conditions tend to decrease the cerebral perfusion pressure but with minimal tissue shifts.

Avatar f tn You don't know the proper amount to give and you don't know if it's toxic or not. If it's toxic, it can cause kidney and/or liver failure. If you have an established vet that you've been seeing for years, they are more than willing to let you postdate a check or make payments. Give them a call and explain the situation to them.
2032821 tn?1330566682 And when a person dies of liver failure, they go downhill within two weeks, cannot walk and feel like choking, wind up in emergency, and just before they die, they puke up horrible black liquid and become somebody other than themselves, which is witnessed by her loved ones. And this brings me to you. You have a lot of power over her abuse of alcohol whilst she has these two disease processes.
Avatar f tn I would not fear telling your doctor about these symptoms as some of them can be related to serious problems such as congestive heart failure, kidney disease or damage or cirrhosis of the liver to not so serious such as perimenopasal or menopausal symptoms. The edema may have caused you to gain water weight. I don't know your age or lifestyle such as whether you drink alcohol and so forth but the hair loss and weight gain could be due to a hormonal imbalance or one of the problems above.
385418 tn?1207691705 An MRI scan has shown shadows on my brother's Liver. ........his own Dr have said "prepare for the worst" - However the radiographer at the time of the scan told him they were not able to get a very good scan as he fell asleep... He originally was taken into hospital months ago with very severe swelling of his body, especially his legs. He had numerous tests was told it was his heart, and then they dismissed it. Told it was definitely renal, and then dismissed it.

Avatar f tn First off Katie you CAN NOT take Tylenol with vicoden it already has a pretty big dose of acetaminophen in it and that's all that Tylenol is if you take them both your putting way way way too much of it in your body and it can damage your liver horribly i used to take vicoden and just that amount of acetaminophen raised my liver enzymes dangerously high and i had to be admitted to the hospital for a week bcuz they thought i was going into liver failure and i was only taking the 7.
Avatar m tn Alternatively, a focal liver abscess can cause portal hypoperfusion by the spread of inflammatory mediators. Polymorphous: Have various shapes and sizes without a straight border. Present as areas of irregular enhancement around or lateral to an injury. The polymorphous pattern may be caused by an aberrant blood supply, inflammation, physical parenchymal injury (contusion, percutaneous biopsy), chemical parenchymal injury (e.g.

Avatar m tn I would strongly urge you to visit your local ED. I read that liver toxicity was a problem with that particular medication so in excess it may do significant damage. Best to get it treated early. Being placed on a liver transplant waiting list is possibly the last thing you, or anybody else, would want.

203342 tn?1328740807 I knew of a patient who gave birth to a child and only days later, was admitted back into the hospital due to liver failure. The FDA is just encouraging people to take lower doses of acetaminophen and they want to to make the 1,000-milligram dose of acetaminophen available only by prescription, as well as limit the maximum single dose of acetaminophen to 650 milligrams. I have to support the FDA's recommendations. I actually think that their decision is long overdue.
