Avatar m tn I know it may sound really strange but I am in so much pain from recurrent abscesses. The abscesses are usually on my leg or in my arm pit and under my breast. I had one in my rectum area too. I had been to the doctors so many times and put on dicloxicillin which seemed to help at the time, yet they still kept on recurring. i don't know what to do.......
Avatar n tn My husband had his colon, rectum, & anus removed 4 weeks ago. He has an abscess in the rectum area. The Intervention Radiology department put in a drain and he is taking antibiotics. Avatar n tn painful lumps in the anus/rectum, pain and swelling in the anus or buttocks area, painful bowel movements, fever/ or night sweats, and abdominal pain. Antibiotics treat the infection that has caused the abscess. The specific antibiotic depends on what infectious organism has caused the abscess. Whether the abscess is drained or not, antibiotics are always used to treat the underlying infection. Needle aspiration of the abscess to remove the infectious fluid.

Avatar n tn Last September I had an abscess drained on my right lower buttock. I have HSV 2 in genital area. Ever since draining of abscess I've had issues with ulcer sore like holes in rectum area that come and go. I've been to 4 specialist. The first one had me put every crème, ointment, steroid and you name it on the area. I even tried more natural approaches with minimal ingredients like calendula, lavender, vitamin B etc.
Avatar m tn Infection with herpes simplex virus can also be another cause. IBS can also cause a feeling of pressure in rectum. It is difficult to comment without examination. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Doctor performed surgery/ incision around her rectum area to drain the abscess immediately. However, about a month later, there is an abscess build up again around her viginal area. Went back to ER, Doctor performed surgery around her vignal area this time to drain the pus. She didn't has any fever both time. Two weeks after the 2nd sugery, she flet the paint and lump or swollen around her viginal area again (she is still taking her antibiotic at the time).
Avatar n tn - thrombosed hemorrhoids (no matter what stage hemmorrhoids are, they may got thrombosed) - an abscess under the skin around the anus, or deeper in the tissue around the rectum. I mean, infection could occur through the fissure. Can you provoke the pain by pressuring to some spot with the finger?
Avatar m tn It is difficult to diagnose a lump in rectum or anal canal without examining it through a proctoscope (a small instrument) or a colonoscopy. However, overuse and self-administration of enema can cause injury and infection which can result in swollen lymph nodes. The other possibility is a hemorrhoid or piles. This is common in individuals who are constipated and in those who use enemas. Other possibilities are a benign rectal tumor, a rectal polyp, a rectal abscess, genital wart or a hematoma.
Avatar n tn The other day I noticed slight pain (like what you'd have from a bruise) about an inch or less from my rectum when I was in the shower. I attempted to examine, but I couldn't see anything and I could only feel that it is slightly swollen and is under the surface of the skin. I also (inadvertently)noticed a white, soft bump on the inside of my anus and there may be more than one, but I can't tell.
Avatar n tn Just had my third surgery due to abscess about a month and a half ago, and for the past few weeks have had this strange pain. Any pain that seems to be in the area of the rectum, makes me leary of abscesses, but this is different. The pain is in the left gluteus, into the bend of my hip, as well as the rectum. Seems that sitting worsens things, and I have been trying to sit/lie to my right to accomodate, but the pain never entirely goes away.
Avatar n tn Is it an inside pimple, sharplike cartilage or what? I am not in any pain. There is no pain with bowel movements. no history of STD other than 2 cases of crabs 35 years ago. 1 online Dr. said this: "If there is no previous significant history then most probably it may be a folliculitis which is a infection of the oil producing & opening of the hair follicles around the anus.At present you should just keep that area clean & dry & should apply a local antibiotic cream on that .
Avatar n tn I'm swollen between my testicles and rectum. It is uncomfortable when i sit down,it doesn't hurt when i walk or stand. This discussion is related to swollen between scrotum and anus.
Avatar f tn I am a 35 yr-old woman, otherwise healthy, who developed a peri-vulval (slightly to the left of the vaginal, directly between the vagina and the rectum) abscess in Sept. '07. After it was determined through an MRI that it was neither an anal nor a vaginal fistula, the abscess was incised and drained in early Oct. '07 and appeared to be healing, although continuing to drain. When it was still draining at the end of Nov.
Avatar n tn 2 days ago i noticed a discomfort coming from near my recrum, inbetween mt *** checks. its tender to touch, and painful when i sit down. At firsrt i assumed it was like a normal spot teenagers get on their face (eg, that which you pop, puss comes out, it heals and then goes away).
Avatar m tn 5, but he could not find anything wrong. At this point, I was thinking perianal abscess, but the Dr. could not find a mass. GP gets me on Antibiotics, and sends me to see a surgeon for a 2nd opinion just in case it might be a intersphincteric abscess. - Fever now for 5 days straight, with no other symptoms like sore throat, running nose, etc. Pain still increasing as well as night sweats. I went to see the surgeon. He performs an extensive digital exam, and could find nothing.
Avatar n tn Just recently I found out that I have a fistula (hole) in my prostate and rectum. Currently pain can be so bad that I can't function. I'm not suggesting that you might have a fistula, since the pain now is far worse that what I used to have about a year ago. Whenever I used to get an infection I allways experienced some level of pain, however at times it turned into a stabbing pain. This usuall came shortly after sneezing, or coughing or just adjusting my position.
Avatar m tn also been feeling really lethargic and have difficulty waking up in the morning. i saw the GP yesterday and he wanted me to see him again in three days time. will it be too late as i know that a complication of untreated abscess is systemic infection? im thinking of going straight to the ER. so far the GP has prescribed paracetamol, an antibiotic and proctosedyl.
Avatar m tn Hi i have been playing with anal toys and i think i injured the insides of my rectum as i had pus and blood flowing out from the inside the following day of one particular episode. on the outside it looks normal as seen by the GP. hence he didn't see the need to feel the inside. but i told him it was due to costipation as i'm shy with telling him abt the anal toy thing. i have been having night chills but no fever and getting on and off white patches in my mouth.
Avatar n tn I have not yet seen my surgeon and do not want to because I am tiried and exhausted from constantlly having abscesses drained, is it possible that this abscess which is on the right side of my labia could be tracking from the rectal abscess that is on the left side of my rectum?? I have been using warm compresses on the area and just last night it started draining and has the same odor, color and consistency of the rectal abscess.
Avatar f tn I have a rectal abscess it started of near the anus in which it hurt to clench but now the rectum does not hurt so much but for some reason my left buttock is hard to the touch can some one tell me why
Avatar n tn Hi thanks for your support. I am seeing the Nurse in the Morning and she will call in the Doctor so will let you know tomorrow. Another Idea is I have been up untill now cammando style no nickers (OOH er) and I wonder if the rubbing from the lining of my leggins could do this sort of thing..?? Uhm?
Avatar m tn The problem may be a prolapsed rectum. If abscess develops in anal area, it may result in fistula. If all your skin there is soft you may get a fissure after straining. If it is IBD - Inflammatory Bowel Disese - what includes Crohn's disease and Ulcerative colitis, then this has to be treated with antiinflammatory drugs and local procedures like abscess draining, hemprrhoids repair and such. But - colonoscopy first.
Avatar n tn This morning, it felt a bit better but by the end of the day it hurt to walk again and I was now itching (probably a yeast infection from the DR's poking and prodding) I went back to the GYN who said it was no yeast infection, everything looks fine and the abscess is smaller. Maybe he didnt remember me but my abscess has doubled in size since yesterday. It now burns when I pee. I have been doing sitz baths since I discovered it and nothing is working. He said antibiotics wont help.
Avatar m tn my husband has had a not between is rectum and scrotum for about two years, it causes pain and causes trouble with bowel movements. he has had bleeding in the stool and sometimes has trouble urinating. the not is closer to anus and seems like it is getting bigger. could this be some kind of cancer or just a abscess. Avatar m tn They are relatively common in the area of the rectum. The problem with abscess in that area is they can often result in an anal fistula, which is an opening from the rectal wall to the skin surface in the area. This happened to me some years ago, it was corrected with a simple surgical procedure. In any event you should see your GP and have it looked at, if it is an abscess, drainage may be needed to avoid issues, such as fistula, later on. cheers.
Avatar f tn 4 weeks ago I had what felt like an abscess in my rectum. After a few days I went to the toilet and passed out a bit of blood and what looked like an abscess. I went to the doctors the next day and he said that the bleeding looks like it's coming from further up and not near my rectum. After that I had a day of passing small amounts of blood and after that bowel movements were normal, no blood or diarhhea just a bit of mucus.
Avatar f tn Hello, Such a painful rash can be due to a boil, abscess or herpes sores. A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection.
Avatar f tn Rectal discharge can occur for many reasons, including anal fissure, anal fistula (an abnormal connection between two organs) or abscess, other infections including sexually transmitted diseases, or chronic inflammatory diseases. An anal fissure is a small tear in the lining of the anal canal. An anal abscess is an infected, pus-filled cavity. An anal fistula, which is an abnormal connection between the anus and surrounding tissues, can develop from an anal abscess if the infection spreads.
