From what you are describing I would think it may be a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. The Bartholin glands are in the lower portion of the vagina and while the cyst isn't supposed to be painful, the abscess is and I would imagine if the cyst were big enough it would hurt. You may want to see your gyn about this. Also you can google Bartholin's cyst and you will get a lot of information.

My lower lip has swollen up over the top lip. I have nothing that looks like an abscess, but symptoms are very familiar to me. Also, feverish, sore throat and dry mouth.

I chipped my front tooth 44 years ago, and had a root canal, braces, bonding then finally a crown put on. In the early 90s, I had an abscess make an opening in the front of my gums and start draining. It seems that the metal point in my root canal caused the abscess and an endodontist did a second root canal, removed the metal and used gumma percha and it was fine. Now it’s 2018 and I have a soreness beneath my nose and I thought it was from clenching my teeth while I sleep.

but a week later i still have numbness on left corner of lower lip and chin! she told me originally that this was because abscess was resting on a nerve! when should i expect the numbness to go and normal feeling come back?

Okay i woke up this morning with pain in the gum. I looked in the mirror and my abscess grew in size. Before it was small and now it's well really big. It hurts when i press down on it and there's puss coming out of it. Oh and my upper lip is swollen. I'm not sure what to do now. The dentist is closed due to really bad snow. I could try calling up other dentist and see if there open. Though the nearest one is 13 mins away. I've been rinsing my mouth out with salt water.

Hi , after an abscess and a course of antibiotics , I finally had infected tooth removed the other day , everything is back to normal apart from my bottom lip and chin on the left side , I was wondering how long this took to clear up and feel normal .

I was on amoxicillin for a few months for a dental abscess. This was around 7 months ago. Since then, my lower lip on the right side has been swollen. My checks also swell sometimes on the inside. This has been going on and off for around 6 months. The lip swelling goes down but never really goes away completely. The cheek swelling is the same as it comes and goes but is always somewhat puffy and swollen still. No real pain, just annoying.

You need to run a test for moniliasis to rule this out. It could also be due to caries in tooth, abscess in gums, pyorrhea, abscess in cheek, or infection of internal ear. It could also be due to osteomyelitis of the jaw bone or due to involvement of temporomandibular joint. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Hi angel114, Typically if a abscess forms you take antibiotics,and if it's bad enough they have to also be drained,you can't really "cut out" an abscess,at least not without taking healthy tissue with it. Your grandmother should receive a pelvic exam to determine the cause and extent of the abscess to determine the correct treatment,a small sample may also be taken to rule out cancer beings she is post menopausal.

An abscess is basically a build up of pus and infection in the jaw bone area. I assume that since you've seen a dentist recently, it probably would've been spotted at your last checkup as they generally develop from large cavities. There are abscess that also develop from gum disease as well but assuming you had a cleaning and check up, thats also a little more unlikely. Best to get it checked out and taken care of.

The reason I have reocurring fistulas was due to a abscess that was opened from the wrong direction, by a gynecologist. So maybe another abscess.
