Common Questions and Answers about Abscess in gums in children

abscess

Avatar f tn Hi, lump in the gums above and adjacent to the teeth most commonly can be tooth abscess or fistula opening due to infected tooth. You may just check out any frank cavity or food imapaction area in related teeth to the swelling. In such case you may need antibiotics and root canal treatment of the affected tooth with the help of a dentist. Other possibilties could be pyogenic granuloma, fibroma, periodontal abscess etc. Check out with local dentist to confirm.
Avatar m tn Hi I woke up and felt a lump on my cheek (right) , I can't see anything in my gums and on my cheek it doesn't look swelled up , though you can definitely feel a lump Any ideas what it is or how to get rid of
Avatar n tn My daughter had a tooth removed where she had an extra tooth in the gums. They gave her a general anesthetic (put her to sleep.) She is now 15 and does not remember having the tooth removed. Will they be giving a shot to numb or put your daughter to sleep? Children are resilient--mine didn't have any problems afterward with pain or such.
Avatar f tn Hi and thank you in advance for this incredible service. A few years ago several of my molars in my bottom teeth fell out or crumbled out. These were teeth that had had some work, some with unfinished work too, some root canals that didn't end up getting crown-finishes. The gum/cheek swelled up on the left side then went away. Then the right side swelled up and a tooth's remaining root there was hurting pretty badly, and it kept getting worse, very painful.
Avatar n tn I believe it may be a smell in between my gums maybe or even a tooth but none of my teeth are hurting me its just a smell that just recently started happening. I need to know how to get rid of this horrible taste in my mouth . Is there anything I can do to get rid of this smell? I believe its my gums but i dont kno.
Avatar m tn s ok but the fact that I had to chew on my left side where I have an abscess now my left side is in excruciating pain, my teeth hurt and my face hurts because it is swollen and now I have a puffiness underneath my eye that feels like there's liquid in it. I have no insurance so what should I do?
Avatar n tn I had an abscess on my gums. I started on keflex and scheduled a root canal ASAP. After the root canal and finishing the keflex the abscess was still there. My endontist downplayed it like it's no big deal but he drained the abcess and put me on clymdamycin. Finished all the clymdamycin and the abscess is still there. Endontist says it could take months to heal and sent me on my way. I feel like I need a second opinion. I still have a pea sized abscess on my gums idk what to do.
Avatar n tn If given a choice of rabbit mixes, rabbits will often pick out foods high in carbohydrates, high in simple sugars and high in fat, these foods are often extremely low in fibre. Thus they will select foods like grain, nuts, and cereal over more fibrous foods like hay. Indigestible fibre and size of the food play a big role in aiding digestion and the abrasive nature aids in the maintenance of the continuously growing cheek teeth.
Avatar f tn Your English is just fine. You need to go to the dentist!!!! Infections spread rapidly in the mouth!!! Do you mean an abscess or a tumor. Abscess if you don't know is usually an infection under the tooth in the roots. I know it can be expensive but you shouldn't be in this discomfort! They use different antibiotics for different infections. I do wonder why you didn't go back before this! Dental pain can be so bad. Take care.
Avatar n tn t see any pus sack on my gums or cheek but there is some white stuff that looks like it could be an abscess inbetween my tooth and gums. The dentist hasn't seen me since my cheek swelled up and won't beable to until the 10th. thanks, again.
Avatar n tn A tooth abscess is usually a complication of tooth decay. In a dental abscess, or tooth abscess there is accumulation of pus inside the teeth or gums. The abscess usually originates from a bacterial infection and is mostly caused by a dental infection. The common presenting complaints are severe toothache, breath odour, fever, pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling of gums, swollen glands etc.

Avatar m tn Hi everyone, I'm having some major gum problems. 3 or 4 of my gums are bleeding a lot. I went to the Dentist last month, and got a dental abscess removed. The dentist she did the pocket test, and send it was fine for now and I don't need to see a periodontist. I had a scale clean as opposed to a regular clean, I'm not sure if she did root planning though.
Avatar m tn I went to the dentist a week ago and he said i have a tooth infection on my right top tooth and days later i was in severe pain, gums swollen and tender, right side of my face was swollen and my right lymph node is swollen and hurting. is this the sign of a tooth abscess?
Avatar m tn I have plans to finally go see a dentist about the issue but what precautions should I take in the mean time? I have read that swishing salt water in my mouth should help, is this true?
Avatar n tn I dont' know if this can be true but I feel like my wisdom teeth on top is starting to grow more and it's pressing against that area. The white spot in the previous picture is where I feel my top tooth the most.
Avatar n tn The root canal shouldn't have much to do with your gums. Did you have an abscess or severe swelling initially?
Avatar m tn For the last 4 months or so Ive had a thickening of the skin over my right axillae. I has a huge abscess in the area which resolved spontaneously after antibiotics. I noticed the irregularity in my skin soon afterwards. The lump hasnt increased in size but it wont go away either. Any thoughts??....thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi angel114, Typically if a abscess forms you take antibiotics, and if it's bad enough they have to also be drained, you can't really "cut out" an abscess,at least not without taking healthy tissue with it. Your grandmother should receive a pelvic exam to determine the cause and extent of the abscess to determine the correct treatment,a small sample may also be taken to rule out cancer beings she is post menopausal.
Avatar m tn An abscess is basically a build up of pus and infection in the jaw bone area. I assume that since you've seen a dentist recently, it probably would've been spotted at your last checkup as they generally develop from large cavities. There are abscess that also develop from gum disease as well but assuming you had a cleaning and check up, thats also a little more unlikely. Best to get it checked out and taken care of.
Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm brand new to this website & forum, but I was researching this issue for a friend of mine just last night. Sounds like you have an abscess forming thus the "white bump". The tooth itself will have to be taken care of eventually but the abscess is an infection that needs to be taken care of NOW. Any dr/er/dds can prescribe you a round of antibiotics, which will help with the pain and inflammation alot.
Avatar m tn Judging by your description, it is most likely a fistula which is a tract that forms from the abscess of your infected tooth that escapes out to the gums. As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area. I would recommend seeing a dentist and getting treatment started.
Avatar n tn painful lumps in the anus/rectum, pain and swelling in the anus or buttocks area, painful bowel movements, fever/ or night sweats, and abdominal pain. Antibiotics treat the infection that has caused the abscess. The specific antibiotic depends on what infectious organism has caused the abscess. Whether the abscess is drained or not, antibiotics are always used to treat the underlying infection. Needle aspiration of the abscess to remove the infectious fluid.
Avatar f tn 2 days back i got pain in my swollen gums and i got puss and bleeding from that portion. after that the gums are lightly swollen and there is no pain now. i did'nt visited the dentist. can i get infection in my gums? what to do as a first aid and when should i visit the dentist? i also got root canal treatment for the tooth above which i got this gum problem.is there any problem because of the tooth ? the swollen gums are not exactly near the tooth. it is near the bones on the upper side.
1527966 tn?1301367083 It sounds like you have an ulcur. Iam unsure on your age or if you can have children but the metalic taste in your mouth is a syptom of pregnancy. I would however get the dr to check your mouth.
Avatar n tn i went to the dentist today and it turns out that i had callculus in my gums that. so thankfully it was nothing more and no root canal. i definitely needed to see an dentist though.
Avatar f tn I had extractions and implants (and an infected abscess) in June on the upper right side of my mouth. It was necessary to remove an old bridge. I am about to start the process of getting a new bridge completed. Before I do that I want to be sure that the cause of the bad taste isn't going to be 'sealed in.'- Post-surgery it was thought that heavy doses of antibiotics - to treat the abscess -- were the cause. But it's been six months since I stopped the antibiotics.
