Abscess in gland

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess in gland

abscess

Avatar f tn I had to get surgery due to the frequency and severity of the abscesses in my right armpit. The doctors removed my sweat gland and all of the skin that had hair. I have not had any more abscesses in that area since but continue to have them in other areas. Depression is common with the condition due to the painful, embarrassing nature of HS so it is important to monitor her for signs and symptoms. Hope this helps and best of luck.
Avatar n tn By this I do mean the original cause of the problem altogether,as in what caused the whole problem in the first place, opposed to why the swollen gland mutated.Sorry.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure if its escaping from your gums and mixing with the saliva already present or if its coming from the parotid gland in your cheek. The reason why is because of your swelling on your cheek and not on the gums. You may want to go back to your dentist and he may want to "milk" the parotid to see if its infected.
Avatar n tn Let me tell you from FIRST HAND experience because just had emergency surgery because my outer lip got SUPER swollen and in just 2 days it showed to be an aggressive abscess in just 2 days that abscess got 2 inches deep and took over my entire outer lip that it looked like I had elephantitus and the open sore was getting larger at a very rapid rate of speed, something told me to go to the emergency room that my life was in danger because of it so "from the time I got there to the time the s
Avatar n tn About a week and a half ago I started to develope a lump, redness, and pain just outside the crease of my right thigh. Over the weekend it progressively got larger, developed a whitehead, and started draining pus/blood on its own (DO NOT try pushing, sqeezing or poking with a needle on your own).During this time it was VERY painful and hard to walk, sit or get comfortable. Once that finished, there was blood, lots of it, but this is normal (I of course did not know this and began to panic).
Avatar f tn These glands are used to help fight off infection and so become enlarged when there is a disease process occuring in that region. Lung infection, dental abscess etc. There is also a worry with older dogs and cancer when these glands swell up. Specifically Lymphoma.
Avatar f tn However if the gland is causing you too much worry then only a fine needle biopsy can tell for sure what is it due to. Alternatively it may not be a gland but a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in a nerve) or a lipoma (localized collection of fat), both of which are harmless. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn im may have posted this in the wrong area -im sorry - i have noticed over the last couple months that the left side, base of my neck feels like i have a swollen gland, i have an appoinment for the Dr. in a few days, but was wondering what this could be, of course over this winter a did get alittle sick ,and ok now.. Avatar f tn I am a medical technician who spent 2 years treating regular abscess' so I kind of know what I am in for but have never dealt with the bartholin gland type. I am worried because I know that it is very difficult to anesthetize and abscess locally. I am hoping I am not too late for antibiotic/ sitz bath therapy. I am in the US Army which is unfortunately similar to an HMO, so I still haven't seen a doctor.
Avatar f tn I'm 35eks,6 days n I went to the hospital and the doctor said I had a abscess n they had to drain it and put a small catheter in. I didn't know what was about to happen, it hurt like crazy is all I can say. If anyone has something like this get it check right away because it will only get worse.
Avatar n tn I had a colonoscopy 3 months ago, and now I have a huge abscess in my right Bartholin gland, and they are trying to figure out if it is CA or not. Also, there is lots of old blood in it. I have had no sex in the last three months or any other activity in that area other than the colonoscopy, and my OB/GYN says that it couldn't be from the trauma of the colonoscopy. They are testing for CA and I will have results today. I don't believe her.
Avatar n tn My primary doctor said it was an odd shape to be a cyst, but was definitely not a gland. At times there was some slight redness over it, but I don't know if that can be attested to constant probing or inflammation. 3 days ago, I decided to squeeze it gently to see what happened. I noticed what seemed like a dark pore at the bottom half of it. Clear liquid came out (I'm assuming pus) and then the strangest thing happened.
Avatar f tn These can become painful and swollen, and an abscess can form. This often causes blockage in the main duct from the gland, and a cyst develops. This is felt as a painless, hard swelling. In such cases, antibiotics may be helpful, or surgical treatment might be required. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn If your dog is still licking and scooting after 3 or 4 days, have your vet check for an anal abscess. Some dogs need their glands expressed very frequently, and if they aren't an abscess can develop either visible from the outside or just inside the rectum. In that case, your dog will need some antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Dear heidipost, A swelling under the jaw in a young animal may be an enlarged lymph node or an abscess. A lymph node may enlarge due to nearby inflammation, like from eruption of an adult tooth or from a minor abscess from a wound if he has been "arguing" with another cat or a wound in the mouth from chewing something.
Avatar n tn If a Bartholin duct gets blocked, fluid builds up in the gland and a Bartholin gland cyst may occur. However, if the Bartholin gland or duct gets infected, it's called a Bartholin gland abscess. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for direct clinical examination. Take care and do keep us posted.
172826 tn?1423426556 If infection sets in, the result is a Bartholin's abscess. If the infection is severe or repeated a surgical procedure known as marsupialization may be required to stop further recurrences. Most of the time, a Bartholin's cyst is not an infection, although it can be caused by an infection. The cysts that are infected, however, are called abscesses. A cyst can grow from the size of a penny to almost the size of a whole orange but most of them can only reach the size of a golf ball.
Avatar f tn Yesterday, I saw my gyno for what I thought was an abscess of my R Batholin gland. It wasn't an abscess. It wasn't a cyst. It was marsupialized no drainage. It is just a big lump. It was a small lump in August and I just thought it would "come to a head". But, it didn't it just grew deep in the Labia Majora. To my surprise, biopsies were taken! Why haven't we been told about cancer in the glands of Batholin and how to examine ourselves.
Avatar n tn “Lymph nodes can become swollen from infection, inflammatory conditions, an abscess, or cancer. Other causes of enlarged lymph nodes are rare. By far, the most common cause of swollen lymph nodes is infection. When swelling appears suddenly and is painful, it is usually caused by injury or an infection. Enlargement that comes on gradually and painlessly may, in some cases, result from cancer or a tumor.” Refer: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003097.
Avatar m tn I am from Bangalore, India. I am 26 years old. I am having a stone in submandibular gland since last 6 months. My throat swells and causes discomfort whenever I eat any sour or chilly food. The doctor, I consulted first gave me some anti-biotics (augmentin). When the swelling reduced she told me to operate out the stone. She was prepared to remove the stone on my second visit day. First she pierced a niddle to let all pus out.
Avatar f tn Some times they would be bigger then smaller, but they would never hurt. Now all of a sudden, i have this. In exactly the same spot as the gland. It is hard, red, the size of a 20c coin, goes deep under the skin and is extremely painful. It doesn't appear to have a head (like an ingrown might have). The doctor has put me on antibiotics, but they haven't seemed to help or reduce the size at all. Does anybody know what this might be? i need a second opinion.

Avatar n tn Before my retreatment on my root canal my glands swollen, develop an abscess in the pulp, and pain in my mouth. Since the retreatment my left gland under jaw still somewhat swollen, my teeth hurt to hot & cold, ears ache, and back the neck aches...Is it possible before the root canal retreatment the abscess caused the swollen gland and still have an infection? I am not sure if I should go to a doctor or the dentist.
Avatar n tn They also are running some culture to make sure its not some resistant bacteria thing but they said it was highly unlikely since that usually shows up in jails and such and well I've never even been in a place like that. I know they said the bacteria causing infection could spread so could these two things (both bumps) be related? I have a GYN appt on Friday, but this man that my HMO makes me see everytime.. well I dont necessarily know that I trust him. lol.
