Abscess gum home treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess gum home treatment

abscess

Avatar f tn My guess would be that it may take a few weeks. Keep using all the recommended treatment regimen at home and hopefully it'll gradually go away. You may need a root canal if the symptoms don't stop after about 4-6 weeks I would guess.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics wouldn't be necessary if you had the root canal done but if you are awaiting to do treatment when you get back home, I would take the antibiotics and get it treated as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn Hi there, The exact cause of this white bump can be confirmed only after a complete clinical examination. It is possible that it could be due to an infection involving your teeth or gums. Canker sore symptoms begin with a tingling sensation, followed by a red bump that becomes an ulcer. An abscess can cause swollen painful red lump which may drain pus.Thrush a fungal infection of the mouth causes white patches on tongue and inside of cheeks. It is best to get it checked by a PCP.
Avatar n tn last week i developed an abcsess in my tooth. my cheek became very swollen. the doctor said the infection from the abscess had passed from my tooth into my cheek. they put me on keeflex. within 24 hours about 60% of the swelling in my cheek had subsided. i am now on day 6 of a 10 days worth of the keeflex.
Avatar f tn However, does anyone have any advice on some home treatment or OTC medicine that I could use for this infection. This has been going on (off and on) for months, and this pain and burning is becoming unbearable. Also, several of my remaining teeth on that side has become loose. I have had teeth extracted in the past because of this problem. Thank you.
Avatar n tn i had an abscess on a tooth that had already had root canal treatment went to the dentist he said i had the abscess after taking an x ray and said the tooth needed to be removed. without asking whether there was anyone to go home wiith me or if the rest of my day was free, he, under just normal injected into the mouth painkiller proceeded to pull the tooth i felt most of it and screamed i had previously asked can i have gas and air or something he said id be "fine" .
Avatar m tn How much risk is there of the infection spreading in a dangerous way if this is some kind of chronic low level abscess? Should I push for emergency treatment or can it wait until I get to Hong Kong? Will the antibiotics help address any risk of the infection spreading? How is it possible that I have gone back so many times for exams and had them find nothing wrong?
Avatar m tn At the same time, I noticed the gum around my top left wisdom tooth started to swell. It hurt a bit, but not much. It kept swelling and I felt a bad taste coming from there, so on Wednesday I go see a dentist. I arrive at the office, get an x-ray, dentist looks at my tooth and says I have an abscess and it seemed to have been there for quite some time already. She proceeds do drain it, sends me home on antibiotics and ibuprofen, and tells me to come back on Friday to extract the tooth.
1462810 tn?1327364049 just try it- a slice of raw garlic wrapped in a bit of gauze placed between the lip and gum over a tooth abscess, within 45 minutes the pain will be gone, with repeated application so will the infection. Your dentist will NEVER tell you about that one. If you want your eyes opened, visit www.naturalnews.com . 1806721 tn?1554337007 Endodontist said canal too narrow from infection/inflammation, and give me Amoxillin and vicoprofen, follow up next Tuesday. Got home at 3pm. Took meds at 5pm. Drug kicked in after 1 hr, then I feel nauseous and lightheaded, pain came back after 2.5 hrs, threw up at 8pm. Endo dr warned me that I have another bad tooth next to it, and I will feel the pain as if it's from the treated tooth, but he took out all the nerves there, it's merely phantom pain from the neighbor.
Avatar n tn I came across this thread looking for some kind of affirmation to keep stuffing my mouth with 4mg. nicotine. gum. (I am a connoisseur of ONLY CVS brand cinnamon flavor) Instead what I found is the truth- that many of us aren't feeling so hot about our new found (or old friend) addictions to nicotine cessation products. Also you are right about the (wait a minute- I'll need a new piece of gum to finish this...) OK- better now, I'll continue.
Avatar f tn i recently had a perianal abscess which was drained 2 days ago. the abscess popped by itself and I had to go through 3 doctors to finally get it treated properly. first doctor gave me a rather harsh antibiotics course (cephalexin and metronidazole) which obviously did not work at all. after it popped by itself, second doctor told me to stick to the treatment and finish popping it myself.

Avatar f tn Hi....This might help.......... Pain after root canals, or between visits falls into four distinct categories and is treated differently depending upon which category it falls into. Ghost pains happen after an amputation. In the case of someone who has recently had an arm amputated, he may experience pain in his fingers, even though the fingers are no longer there.

Avatar f tn , i am going in for an ex-ray on Tuesday,my question is, can a wisdom tooth that is under the gum be able to stay there ,as long as it doesn't cause any pain, without being removed for a lifetime? also, instead of pulling it out,can they just cut away the gum and allow it to come out?

745568 tn?1232853401 I personally think you should go to a different dentist, have them do X-rays of your teeth, and ask the dentist if you've got a tooth that needs to come out or a cavity or gum disease. As for your eye being the source of the problem, obviously you should go an opthalmologist, they specialize in the eyeball and problems associated with the eye itself, could be your glaucoma readings are off, or any number of eye disorders.
Avatar n tn I've taken xrays of a hairline crack that turned out to be an abscess under the gum line and had damaged the adjacent tooth. I've found cysts in the jaw that if not found would have fractured the jaw. I've found cavities under the gum line and broken roots (root=nerve=pain). I've found damaged teeth with retained roots that continue causing problems.
Avatar f tn I had taken Benadryl that day, and in the waiting room took another 50mg, and told the doctor when she examined me. She gave me further treatment of 50mg of injected Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) and monitored me for a few hours. Symptoms reduced, but by the time I drove home 30 minutes away I was back in the same boat of bad symptoms.
Avatar f tn It absolutely sounds like a dental problem and I completely agree with the treatment plan your vet proposes. Some dogs tend to build up more tartar than others (just like humans) and need some extra dental care during their lives. The tartar eventually causes gum disease which in turns causes a lot of pain while eating. If an abscess was present, I assume your dog's white cell count would be elevated on the CBC labs. Since it isn't, gum disease is the likely culprit.
Avatar f tn It probably is the teeth....or gum disease. It doesn't always figure that they won't eat if their teeth are bad. Dogs are notoriously stoic. A flaming abscess might stop them munching, but a chronic sore gums situation they could get used to, and eat anyway. It sounds like she's holding her own, keeping going in her own way, and not doing so bad. It's great that she's got to 16 1/2 years and still not doing so bad in life. But I can't really suggest anything helpful.
Avatar f tn First I would suggest getting a second opinion. If they still think it's a tumor and not an abscess or poor healing, then I would take chest X-rays to see if it has spread (metastasis) to the lung (the most common place). Then I would at least get a biopsy if your parents are so unsure. Why? Because it's tough to diagnose cancer just by looking or feeling! In a dog, there is a 50-50 chance that it is cancer vs. not cancer. And of course, it's could really be a result of the bite.
