abscess

Avatar f tn This may be brought about by a break in the skin/areola, producing a superimposed infection and thus abscess formation. If there is an abscess, incision and drainage must be done and the specimen is sent to the pathologist for evaluation. Good luck.
5195620 tn?1364978700 Is it a lung abscess? An abscess is a collection of pus and a lung abscess can follow a pneumonia. If a person has lung abscess, besides cough she will have other symptoms like high temperature and will be toxic. Asthma can predispose to lung infections as a result of phlegm collections. This is usually diagnosed by spirometry. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Is it common to feel hard non tender movable lymph glades in the submandibular gland area? They are roughly size of a pea maybe little bigger. I can't feel like unless I look for them. Is this common I'm freaking out that there swollen?
Avatar m tn The common bacteria are staphylococci but sometimes tuberculosis can also lead to abscess formation. The causes of non healing groin abscess could be due to underlying infection, low supply of oxygen to the wound that is reducing the healing process, underlying diabetes, or due to underlying dermatitis. Wounds heal slower in smokers or alcoholics .Discuss with your doctor the above mentioned possibilities. Do keep us posted. Best of luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Hi, my husband had a major stroke and shortly after we discovered he had a fistula. The Dr said he is not strong enough for surgery yet and as long as he keeps draining, and is not in to much pain we can wait. My problem is he is unable to talk so he cann't tell me the pain. He has reciently stopped draining as much but he has become constipated and when he strains to go there is quite alot of blood in the camode. Is this normal? What happens if he dosen't have the surgery?
Avatar f tn It could be a lung abscess. I had something similar a few years back - was diagnosed with pnemonia, it seemed to clear up with antibiotics, but after a few months symptoms returned. The infections and bacteria that invade a cavity in the lung may need stronger or different types of drugs to fully eradicate. At least in my case, that was the case. Eventually the infection was cleared but the abscess left a cavity in my lung that has yet to close up.
Avatar n tn You should also consider getting another opinion regarding management of the lung abscess, which is probably the source of staph in your daughter’s blood. It is often difficult and sometimes impossible to eradicate a lung abscess, without surgical drainage. As the surgeon indicated, this would be a high risk procedure but a decision against surgery also carries risk.

Avatar n tn Sebaceous cyst is a closed sac or cyst below the surface of the skin that has a lining that resembles the uppermost part (infundibulum) of a hair follicle and fills with a fatty white, semi-solid material called sebum produced by sebaceous glands of the epidermis. It is usually painless but can become painful if infected. Then antibiotics are needed. Lipoma is a benign tumor of the fat cells. It is usually self limiting. Hope it helps.Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn There is a condition known as hidradenitis suppurativa where the infection commonly starts around hair follicles and sweat glands, resulting in multiple lumps and abscess formation. Most commonly affected areas are the axilla and inguinal areas. It would be best to consult your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care.
Avatar f tn So I watched a video on youtube about preauricular sinus infection and I learned that it could lead to the formation of abscess. When I was young, I didn't know what the hole was and I often got very irritated with it when it had secretions. I played with it so much that one day I realized a second hole was formed near the "crus of helix" of my right ear couple cm below the first one and that it also extends deep into my ear like the first hole above.
Avatar f tn Bleeding from the breast can be because of infection, abscess formation or cancer. Microscopic examination of the discharge to look for blood cells and any abnormal cells and mammography will help make the diagnosis. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hello, After a tooth extraction the gauze should be kept firmly in place, by biting down on the pad or using finger pressure, for about half an hour to an hour. If you doubt that this gauze has not come out and is placed inside you may need to see your dentist. This gauze piece can act as a focus of infection and lead to abscess formation. Treatment can be decided only after a dental examination. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar n tn I think it is pelvic inflammatory disease which is causing pain in the lower abdomen after urination and after sex. But it is difficult to say without physical examination. Pelvic inflammatory disease is a term for inflammation of the female uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries as it progresses to scar formation with adhesions to nearby tissues and organs. This may lead to tissue necrosis and sometimes abscess formation.
Avatar f tn Hi there! Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Based on your description it is quite possible that you are having Bartholin's cyst .This cyst is formed due to blockage of Bartholin’s gland leading to formation of a fluid-filled cyst. A Bartholin's cyst is not an infection, although it can be caused by an infection, inflammation, or physical blockage to the Bartholin's ducts .

Avatar n tn All I know is that I am in pain in the exact place she stated that the cyst is located. I have been in pain at T7-T8-T-9 since 1995 and have been to numerous physicians/neurosurgeons,chiropractors, arthritis doctors, etc. and none of them seem to know how to treat me and just hand me off to another physician. I feel like I am just getting the "run around" and one doctor gets paid for my office visit, then hands me off to another doctor who gets paid for my office visit and so on.

Avatar f tn It broke about 5 years ago and the inside and the side facing my tongue is completely gone below the gum line with a cavity. The last 4 days I have been in extreme pain including all the bottom teeth on that side, my jaw, ear, neck and head. The four bottom teeth in front of that one have a red line running across the top, it looks like a vein. What is it? I do not have dental insurance but I have some Keflex last and have been taking it along with Motrin for the pain.
Avatar m tn Hi, "Right inferior lobar pulmonary artery and vein encased by mass" means that the blood vessels supplying a part of the right lung are surrounded by a tumor. "Calcification within the mass" means that there is deposition of calcium within that tumor. "Atelectasis" means that a part of the lung has collapsed. "Encysted collection/pleural effusion, minor fissure" means that there is some fluid collection in the involved area.
Avatar n tn My mother has been detected with small cell lung cancer in advance stage (stage 3). The primary is in the right lower lobe of lung and secondaries in both layers of pleura and lymph nodes inside the lung. So the spread is locally and confined only to lung and pleura. Doctor's are saying that the only treatment is chemotherapy and even with that the life expectancy is only about a year. Is this right? Is there any other treatment available in this case?
