Avatar f tn Hi, This sounds like an infection and my advice to you would be to seek medical attention to have this abscess or boil lanced and treated with antibiotics. Please call for an appointment to see your family doctor or a dermatologist, (the sooner the better) before this infection gets worse. Avatar m tn Hi there, The common sites for abscess formation are groin s and armpits. Abscesses are caused by minor breaks and punctures of the skin, obstruction of sweat glands and oil glands, and inflammation of hair follicles. These abscesses contain dead cells, bacteria, and other debris, which causes inflammation and pain. The common bacteria are staphylococci but sometimes tuberculosis can also lead to abscess formation.
Avatar m tn I had surgery on a perirectal abscess about 7 weeks ago. For the past 5 days I have been running a low grade fever 99-100.4 on average and experiencing random rectal pain in the same area. I had some bleeding from the site then the fever began the next day. I thought the area was completely healed as I have had been released by my Doctor after 3 weeks. Is it possible for it to reoccur?
Avatar f tn Untreated Mastitis usually results in the formation of an abscess. Any untreated infection is NOT a good thing ... it can only get worse. The abscess may have to be drained and left open to heal from the bottom up and that certainly isn't cheap. How about a refill of the antibiotic you were prescribed ?? The Pharmacy could call the Dr. and get an OK on that. You can't just let an infection continue without treatment.

Avatar f tn Hi there. From what you have described, this can be due an underlying infection causing abscess formation (collection of pus). This can be treated with antibiotics and/or incision of the area to drain the abscess. Other uncommon causes would include Paget's disease of the breast, with an underlying associated breast nodule. I suggest you have this looked at by your doctor to have a more accurate picture. If this is indeed infection, he may give a course of antibiotics.

Avatar f tn The problem with artificially produced cavities such as what you have is the possibility to accumulate fluid and hence can predispose to cyst or seroma formation as well as abscess formation. However, most operations in the breast would only transiently produce these cavities but should later be completely healed. If persistent cavities persist, I suggest that you have this re-evaluated by the surgeon to avert future problems. Regards.

1394445 tn?1351026945 Hi there, Some pain and discomfort is common after a root canal treatment. There may be formation of a periapical abscess as a result of the initial infection due to bacteria during the endodontic procedure. There may be formation of a tooth abscess or inflammation of adjacent tissues due to increased blood flow during the healing process of the infected tissues. A failed root canal is another possibility.
