abscess

Avatar f tn Hi There can be several causes for a localized swelling in the buttocks, such as epidermal inclusion cyst, infected lipoma, abscess, boil/furuncle or fibroma. It would be difficult to diagnose without an examination. An abscess is a localized collection of pus walled off from the rest of the body. It contains pus, which consists of inflammatory cells and decayed tissues. Most abscesses causes local pain and tenderness.
Avatar m tn Dear iam1butterfly, I have returned after two appointments with physicians and one appointment with a surgeon. Several corrections are needed. 1) This is not a lipoma and never was. 2) This was a subaceous cyst that became infected, which is then called an "abscess". The surgery involved opening with a horizontal cut and drainage. Gauze is packed into the remaining small wound with a piece poking outside. This gauze is replaced daily.
Avatar f tn A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus You should keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics.

1384078 tn?1298325829 I wondering if this is some kind of cyst? Again, pics from yesterday are posted under my profile album. I will probably give it another 48 hours to start healing before heading to the doctor. Any advice would be much appreciated.
459853 tn?1283144114 It is also possible it could be an abscess caused perhaps by some cut or puncture wound. Can you see anything on her skin under the fur? If she is fighting something like that she will not feel 100% My feeling is that you should take her for the vet to look at her, to be on the safe side. Especially as it does seem to be affecting her breathing.
Avatar f tn i said I had, the doctor says they taught it was a sinus and that it could have been caused by an abscess (mrsa pics showed a very similar hole as I have ans it was caused by an abscess). I keep asking them if something could have been left behing and they say they can't see that happening. The problem is if something was they might think I would sue or something, I wouldn't, I just want to get better. They don't seem like they want to do a scan to see if something was left behing.
Avatar n tn The swe1ling has gone down some but there is still a hard place above the drainage area. I have soaked in a hot tub, applied hot washclothes and been using a product called Prid. A couple of days ago a lot of yellow pus came out and than some very white and then blood. Does anyone know how much longer this will take to heal. I am no longer running a fever but can not handle the pain. Just my panties touching hurts like heck!I just put petro jelly on and seems to be easing up. Is that safe?
Avatar f tn So nice to have someone to relate to! I went to a party on the 4th and due to the fact I am not yet 3 weeks out so I ate nothing at the party. I am so tired of only eating at the end of the day! But I am so glad to hear that others go through it too. I loved the gold fish crackers before my last surgery so I would bet that I am going to try them again. I had to spend 4 month on a semi liquid diet because of a failed surgery for small bowel adhesions.
