Abscess drainage arm

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess drainage arm

abscess

Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar n tn ) After feeling the scalple slicing open my abscess, then the doctor found a previous abscess under that one and had to slice it open as well. After all of this, it was time to begin packing the wound with this stringgy gauze filled with antibiotic by using a small pair of sissors to do it. I felt everything! It felt like he was poking the abscess with the sharp sissor and then dragging it around the inside edges of the wound. Another very painful and tramatic experience!
Avatar n tn The healing process depends on how long it takes for all the rubbish to come out and how deep the abscess is. If the root of the abscess is left, it will continue to fester. Make sure that you take the antibiotics as prescribed and do as the doctor advised you. Take pain relief medication as prescribed on the packet to help lessen the pain.

Avatar m tn Treatment is usually cold compresses, over the counter anti-inflammatory analgesics(pain killers) like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, antibiotics if cause of infection is suspected to be a bacteria and surgical drainage if there is any abscess formation. Sebaceous cyst is a closed sac that fills with a fatty white, semi-solid material called sebum produced by sebaceous glands of the epidermis. It is usually painless but can become painful if infected. Then antibiotics are needed.

Avatar m tn TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS... abscess: An abscess is a localized collection of pus that generally develops in response to infection. An abscess is typically painful, and it appears as a swollen area that is warm to the touch. The skin surrounding an abscess typically appears pink or red. Abscesses can develop in many parts of the body, but they usually involve the skin surface.
Avatar n tn I couldn't even walk from the pain becuz every step I took...seemed to vibrate my whole body and pain under my arm. I couldn't move my arm. They said it was a swollen lymph node. The surgeon said he wouldn't operate because they'd continue to come back anyway....and he was right. They did give me antibiotics, but we all know none of those work. I've also had been suggested by friends to test my estrogen levels. I know these mofo's hurt like hell... Good luck!!
211940 tn?1267884866 About 1 year ago I began having pain in my right upper arm, between the shoulder and elbow, about mid arm where the biceps brachii muscle or brachialis muscle is. I went to my Primary Physician who said it was a torn brachialis muscle. Since I was working at a 2nd job, I thought it might be job related so I went through the whole Workman's Comp issue. They sent me to 4 doctors who did nothing for me, finally the case was settled and my lawyer got most of the money, but I still have the pain.

Avatar f tn After a week in the hospital, I was sent home with a picc-line in my arm and a drainage tube for the abscess. I have been taking antibiotics vancomycin and Invanz daily through infusion. I have been home 10 days and the drainage is now cloudy light pink as opposed to the dark pink with clumps while I was in the hospital. I see improvement, but my question that can't seem to be answered is where did the infection and abscess come from?
Avatar m tn I had one removed from my arm, and it looked like a tiny bunch of grapes. I mostly eat healthy foods, although I'm not perfect. This has been going on for several years (10+). My question is this- is there something I can do to PREVENT these from happening? I don't know of anyone else that has these as bad as I do- although I know many people who have had the tailbone cysts. I shower at least once a day- so hygene shouldn't be an issue.
Avatar n tn I have a small, solid, slightly red bump on my skin (not under) between my left breast and upper arm. It is not moveable and has been there for almost a month. I have a dermatology appointment on the 21st but I'm a bit anxious and wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what it could be?

Avatar f tn Alright, get ready for this. About 2.5 weeks I realized I had swollen bumps under my right armpit. These got bigger and bigger quickly and started to hurt, but not too much. Some of them were red. I went to my doctor and she said it was just an infection and put me on antibiotics. Couple of days later, and on antibiotics, there was a new lump/node/whatever it is and that one hurt trmendsouly, even just barely touching it.

Avatar f tn It did stop the tooth pain but not the drainage and Sinus problems. So we called the Dentist back and he called in Erythromycin. Well, he has since become worse with fever and constant sinus complications. To make things worse his chest has hurt and even has felt pain in his right arm. This is not happening all the time but it is when he's at work or exerting himself. Is he in danger of a heart attack?
