Common Questions and Answers about Abscess drainage appendix

abscess

Avatar m tn A few days ago my friends daughter had an appendectomy using a procedure that used her navel to access and subsequentally remove an infected appendix. Just before the extraction was completed the appendix was dropped inside the abdominal cavity. The surgeon then opened her up from the navel to the pubic bone to look for it but could not find it. The attending anaethestist advised that after three hours looking for it she would have to brought round which she was.
Avatar n tn I'm 41yrs old, otherwise in reasonable fitness and health but have been diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and have had a drain/antibiotic therapy to clear up the infection and resulting abscess. The appendix will be taken out in 4 weeks' time. What range of physical activity should I carry out in the interval? Would there be a risk of causing damage by lifting, bending, moderate gym exercise etc ? Thanks..

Avatar n tn I recently had a non-laparoscopic appendectomy (not ruptured), in which the surgeon also found some inflammation of the colon about 2" above the appendix. This was also consistent with the pre-op pain being a bit higher than is traditional.

Avatar n tn e, lymph nodes, appendix, prostrate). He recovered ok from the surgery, except they had to give him enema to get intestines going again after about 5 days. He was released on a Friday but my Monday, could not eat, nauseated, bloated and no b.m's or gas passed. He was admitted back to the hospital on 3/2 and is still there. Still no significant b.m.'s or gas passed. Has nasal tube, with long orange tube (I think 15 feet) feeding down to intestines to hopefully find blockage. Never stopped.
Avatar f tn Trying to limit myself after that surgery was difficult. I was back to work after only a couple days when I had my appendix removed and I only missed one day of work when I had my gall bladder removed. I did not like the idea of being so inactive after my bowel resection. With that, I felt the majority of the inner stitches pop. My surgeon did not want that to happen again so he decided to use staples on me.
Avatar n tn if you are having any discharge (drainage) with a foul odor, with green, yellow, thich drainage or any coloration you have an INFECTION.go to the doctor! if this infection gets into any open area on your skin, you will get very sick, it will get into your blood!!!!! Second of all, you are having any pain moving, on your abdomen, GO TO THE DOCTOR, if you are having sharp pains, GO TO THE DOCTOR. note what you were doing, eating, what postion made the pain stop.
Avatar f tn Some years ago I had Sepsis three times within a six week period. I knew the source. I had a tube inserted into my kidney for drainage following a severed ureter from a MVA. I know how very ill Sepsis can make you and the energy that it drains from you system. The third time I was DX and the hospital called me to return for treatment I cried with my head on my husband's shoulder and said, Please don't take me back to the hospital, just let me die here... I can't take this anymore.
