Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar n tn Doctor performed surgery/ incision around her rectum area to drain the abscess immediately. However, about a month later, there is an abscess build up again around her viginal area. Went back to ER, Doctor performed surgery around her vignal area this time to drain the pus. She didn't has any fever both time. Two weeks after the 2nd sugery, she flet the paint and lump or swollen around her viginal area again (she is still taking her antibiotic at the time).
Avatar m tn Please discuss these options with your doctor. Hygiene, proper dressings after surgery and depilation is the only ways to prevent recurrent pilonidal sinus. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Avatar m tn I had surgery on a perirectal abscess about 7 weeks ago. For the past 5 days I have been running a low grade fever 99-100.4 on average and experiencing random rectal pain in the same area. I had some bleeding from the site then the fever began the next day. I thought the area was completely healed as I have had been released by my Doctor after 3 weeks. Is it possible for it to reoccur?
1399266 tn?1280640704 This cat has failed the pre anesthesia test twice after having complications during her spay surgery so we are reluctant to put her under to pull her tooth. The vet is new to us as we have move two hours away from our regular vet. They keep telling us that surgery to pull her tooth is the only option. We are at our wits end and dont know what to do. Might this abscess clear up with the antibiotics? If so how long might that take?
Avatar m tn I have been dealing with unilateral nipple changes for about 5 years and recenty have developed a subareolar abscess. Tests have shown that I have cysts behind the nipple that have ruptured, causing the abscess. My breast surgeon says the ultimate cure would be to remove the nipple/areolar complex and affected ducts/tissue, which I am not opposed to.
Avatar n tn Had guilty feelings for years that i had brought this on my self. Had surgery, got another abscess flare up a wk after surgery (1996) and that has been my life eversince. I get this stuff like 4- 5 times a yr, it lasts for exactly 5 days and then i have to get a I&D or pop it myself cos antibiotics DO NOT WORK. It wil deft be back unless the whole sac and sinus tract is COMPLETELY removed. I think i still have some of the tract in my ear.
Avatar n tn This may indicate that the drainage catheter is plugged, kinked, or the abscess resolved.
Avatar n tn I was then diagnosed with a labial abscess as well and that day had to have another surgery with incision and drainage. I also was diagnosed with mrsa staph infection. I also have no insurance and make very little money. My local hospital admitted me into the er and performed all the necessary procedures as well as gave me a financial aid application to help with bills. I would advise you to get it looked at.
1657910 tn?1302375661 Tiffany, I'm so so sorry that you had so much pain. The day after my surgery they removed the packing from my wounds and it hurt so bad!! Ask for some pain meds and take them. Can you ask if a wound center can treat you? I'm in Reno, NV and we have a center that changed my wounds three times a week. They were so gentle and made sure I was not in to much pain. My insurance didn't cover it all but it was worth every penny. I will be crying out to God in your behalf as you go through this.
Avatar n tn Antibiotics are rarely effective for tooth root abscess's because the infection is trapped beneath the tooth and there is no ready access for drainage, unless a hole is surgically placed to allow drainage. Sometimes the abscess is so severe that it creates it's own hole by bursting through the skin of the face to facilitate the bodies ability to remove the infection. Your vet is probably correct in wanting to extract the tooth.
Avatar n tn In the acute form antibiotics are administered and eventually incision and drainage of the abscess are performed. In the chronical form excision of the diseased milksinus and fibrotic tissue with the nipple is mandatory. We do not hesitate to excise the majority of the milksinuses.
Avatar n tn MRI revealed (8 mm abscess - they chose to treat with antibiotics and not drain, I opted to go home, after the 3 day stay. I was hospitalized again for three days this past week for the same thing...rectal pain, nausea, low grade fever, MRI now revealed (2) 8 mm abscesses. Again, I am home on antibiotics, prednisone, nausea meds, rowasa enemas. I have had (3) colonoscopies over the past 3 years, all removing a polyp of some sort only one identified as adenoma with dysplasia.
Avatar f tn Also I was wondering if anyone's breasts have returned to normal after any form of treatment? After having the abscess drained my left breast is a little more than half the size of my right and still is lumpy and flat on one side. I know I shouldnt be vein but I am only 23 and wonder if this could stay this way forever. Once again, thank you all for stories and responses. I always look forward to reading these posts and hearing how everyone is doing.
Avatar n tn he stayed in the hospital another week and was sent home with the instructions to use an ostomy bag to collect the drainage...there was so much drainage that 4 sites were open and we were using 4 bags...the fistula opening closed..but still excessive amounts of drainage from the other openings...sometimes one will close and another will open (all along the surgical line) Our family doctor told us that the surgeon would be the one to handle my husband's problems..
Avatar n tn If theres a fistula (lil gum boil), sometimes warm salt water will help pull the pus out of the abscess. Otherwise, your dentist can perform an incision and drainage but I wouldn't recommend that route at all. The root canal was done and everything should be fine now. Good luck with hygiene school! Maybe I'll see you at some ADA functions. Best wishes.
454046 tn?1244569193 Hi, know tha feeling well! Keep eye on blister, could possibly in need of further drainage? I had to have a tube & bad installed *yuk! After mine, cause the removals were so many! Sounds like yours was as extensive too. 4 1/2 hrs. to remove all of my Thyroid, 2 nodules from my Vocal Chords & unwrap & free Nerves in neck & shoulders! I had to stay for 3 days in hospital, para-thyroid had to be monitored for potential damages- potassium levels still jiggly.
Avatar n tn Our vet removed the abscess on her neck and said in fact it had been an accumulation of hair/dirt. After surgery she had drains tubes for one day and he removed them. Her neck drained but then started swelling...we drained the fluid with a needled (per vets instructions) and it seemd to heal. Now there is a small mass still there and slight drainage...is this a cyst or scar tissue. Vet is recommending more surgery and said it could happen over and over as this is a hard place to heal.
Avatar n tn The area that was opened was so big that she was totally unable to use her arms for almost 2 weeks after her surgery. After the first 2 weeks she was able to start using her arms a little more but it was still very painful for another few weeks. Now years later after all the recovery is done and over with, she is left with alot of scars.
Avatar f tn I went to my primary care doctor they confirmed it was infection and started me on antibiotics. My 5th week after surgery I was complaining of pain in upper left abdomen and lower right. There was a CT Scan done at the hospital where my surgery was done. I live about 45 miles from the hospital. The doctor called my primary care doctor and informed them I would need a surgeon, I had 2 abscess.
Avatar m tn unlikely that hiatal hernia was not present before surgery sounds like postop ileus - bowels slow to recover after surgery, maybe related to abscess would give it another 5-7 days and perhasp ask for a repeat CT should resolve w time good luck
Avatar f tn I just returned front the doctors office and will be having the LIFT procedure done after having a failed plug surgery (now have 2 setons placed.) If you don't mind, can you tell how your LIFT procedure went, are you healed now? How was recovery?
Avatar f tn thicker, yellow/beige, with a foul odor, I hate to say it, more than likely it's abscess. Typical would drainage from surgery doesn't have an odor and is a thinner/sticky/blood mixed with serum is the best explanation I have. It's normal to have such drainage after surgery, especially in the breast tissue.
Avatar n tn My problem started with an abcess. And I don't know how I got that. Had surgery to drain the abcess. 4 weeks later, the problem was still there and I had a fistula. Surgery was done, hoping to help heal the fistula. This did not work. I wound up in the E.R bleeding from the drainage site. A colorectal surgeon did a "Flap" surgery and I have had a drainage tube for 2 months. Went to the doctor for my check up and he feels this flap surgery did not work. Another surgery.
Avatar n tn I had ACL / MANISCUS surgery last april 2012. I Hit my incision 4 different times from nov-December moving. I have been back to surgeon because my incision swelled 2 weeks then ruptured out ooz for 2 weeks stopped for 2 days now has done the same thing over and it will not quit swelling and oozing. they did blood work ultrasound bone xray all was well but i can not afford to go back to the doctor every week to follow up. Is this a hemotoma under the incision and will it heal on its own.
Avatar f tn I will be going back to my DR for a check up on WED, and I will be sure to report all that I have been feeling. I had a Peri-anal abscess, so the drainage is an open wound near my anus, and is still draining(Sorry if that is too graphic). Is is possible that more could be going on? I have been dealing with a fissure for about 8 months(waited 6 months before seeking treatment, because I was too embarressed of the location) and then this abscess, the Surgeon mentioned Crohn's disease...
