Obviously it could still be herpes, but it does not appear to have an ulcer look and there was only one small oval-shaped zit-like abscess near the very top center where a camel toe forms.. Lol. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome!

First some back story: Cat had an abscess, took it to the vet. The abscess drained, went back to the vet, gave us some antibiotics. After abscess drained, the cat irritated it a bit, a flap of skin came off revealing tissue, and bone on the right of the jaw/mouth. We went back to the vet, said she couldn't bandage it since it's literally on the mouth, and therefore couldn't eat. Also can't stitch since there's no skin to stitch together.

We rushed her straight to the vet who diagnosed an abscess from a cat fight our girl must have got herself into. And he also discovered she is pregnant, and is about 3 weeks along by the feel of things. The vet said he hopes her kittens aren't affected by this abscess / infection. Her temp was 40 degrees celcius also (which I was told is only slightly high for cats).

I just took my cat to the vet because one side of his face was swollen. He said that he's got a tooth abscess in a healthy tooth and that the tooth should be extracted. He said it is unusual in cats and that they don't know the cause. He also suggested some antibiotics for a few days before the surgery to help with the infection. Just wondering if it is worth trying to save the tooth. Go through the course of antibiotics and see if he gets better.

My 8 year old cat, Kupid was diagnosed with a dental abscess about a week ago and put on clindamycin 1 ml twice a day. My two year old cat came home last night and this morning I notice an abscess on the bottom of his mouth. Vaseline isn't the best bet for this area. It's not water soluble and can trap bacteria underneath it. Expressing impacted anal glands is kind of like popping a zit. It's going to be irritated for a few days, and of course, the dog is going to lick any irritated area. I've found Dermachlor Flush Plus (available from the vet) to be a great antiseptic and antifungal rinse that also prevents most dogs from licking an injury.

Hi, is she an indoor/outdoor cat or does she live with more than one cat? If she does, than there's a good chance that this is an abscess(infection from a cat bite). The abscess might not heal on its own, and will probably need a vet to take care of it and put her on antibiotics. Let us know how it goes!!

It could be an abscess of some kind from an injury received outdoors. My one cat used to develop infections from flea bites (she was very sensitive to those). Perhaps the larva you're thinking of is cuterebra (nasty little things). But you'd be able to see a pore (breathing hole) in the lump. Do not attempt to squeeze it out. I sure hope that you have enough clavamox to last 10 days. I really believe that your cat has an abscess and has an infection. He probably got bitten in the leg by the other cat, which caused it. To be honest, if your cat is favoring one leg, then the other leg hurts him too much to walk on it. It's possible that your cat is in pain. I really hope that you have enough clavamox, your cat needs it!

I kept trying and soon it went away but 3 days ago,it came back as a huge,quarter-sized painful boil.Then two more zit-things popped up and (as much as I told myself not to) I popped those too...the boil really hurts and I'm scared a spider may have laid eggs in my leg.I tried cleaning it with an alcohol swab and putting neo sporn with pain relief in it but it didn't work.if anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.thanks!

A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus.Ingrown hair after shaving or waxing are the commonest causes of boils. Pls keep the area clean and apply some warm compresses. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics.
