Good morning forum.6 days ago I went to a urgent care for a bump i had in my pubic hair area, I'm a male. The doctor told me its skin abscess. He drained it and puss started coming out. He took a wound culture for testing using a swab.And prescribed me doxycycline antibiotic. 5 days have passed and I still haven't taken the antibiotics because I want to know about my wound swab culture.

My dog Bella had an abscess removed from her shoulder on Friday, with a penrose drain placed on her leg. The vet told me to flush the drain twice a day with diluted peroxide, however I'm reading online that peroxide is a bad idea. The vet is closed since it is Sunday so I cannot call her until tomorrow. I went to my regular dentist on 1/13/06 and xrays showed a large abscess in tooth #10, as well as a smaller abscess in tooth #20. On 1/17/06 I had a RCT done on tooth #10, as well as an incision in the roof of my mouth behind that tooth to help extract the infection. On 1/19/06, I had a RCT done on tooth #20, with one 0.05mm post placed. I have been on Antibiotics since 1/13/06, taking Penicillin VK 500mg QID, so I'm now on my Eighth day of antibiotics.

hi barry, the pain is only bad before the abscess is drained, once it has the relief is unreal, if it gets to the stage where i need to take a narcotic then they will be given to my hubby to dispense for me, and locked away where i cannot get to them. i am hoping that this wont happen, but who knows!

by the time i got to the er the doctor told me that my abscess was 1 inch by 3/8 of an inch big. that is pretty large for an abscess. with something like this the longer you put it off the worst it will get. hope you feel better soon.

Ask your vet about making payments to have the abscess taken care of. If you are considering putting him down because of an abscessed tooth I can tell you that most vets would sternly recommend against it, and it probably will not cost you a lot more to have the tooth taken care of than it would to have him euthanized. Hi angel114, Typically if a abscess forms you take antibiotics,and if it's bad enough they have to also be drained,you can't really "cut out" an abscess,at least not without taking healthy tissue with it. Your grandmother should receive a pelvic exam to determine the cause and extent of the abscess to determine the correct treatment,a small sample may also be taken to rule out cancer beings she is post menopausal.

My initial guess is that it may be an abscess. Best to get it checked out by a dentist for proper care.

I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area. Hello doctor...thank you so much for your reply. I noticed the lump after my abscess resolved without I&D.....could fibrous tissue walling off the abscess produce a lump like this? Its rather small and I have to poke at it to feel it properly.....I guess Im a hypochondriac and assume the worst. Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

I was diagnosed about 2 months ago, and so far had one abscess drain. It started out a week ago as a very thin, watery discharge with blood, but has since turned to thicker, cloudier stuff. Dear Guys, I developed abscess three times with in two weeks interval in my groin area.....the last two were big and required surgery with full ansthesia. My doc therefore suggested to escape the shot at least for one week so i did not take the shot last week. I continued to take it again but I developed another abscess on the preannal position. I am afraid it will force me to discontinue the therapy. Has any one exprienced such problem during therapy?
