Common Questions and Answers about Abscess boil thigh

abscess

Avatar f tn Hello, It could be a boil or an abscess. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin. Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean. Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head.
Avatar n tn Tender ect? Have you caused injury to the thigh ? It could be an Abscess or a cyst ect which is easy to identify and get it removed by a doctor. :/ If there is no explained reason why it is there then it wouldn't harm to get it checked out by a G.
Avatar f tn You clearly do have some form of infection. Could be a boil or an abscess which may require lancing and a course of antibiotics. Of course, the problem with it being at the back of your thigh is that you are not able to see it properly. The other symptoms may have no connection with your thigh lump, but still mention them to the doctor. It is very likely that the headache with the blood in the nose is likely to be a sinus infection.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like a boil or abscess on the buttocks. A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin.
Avatar m tn So i feel a mild pain on the left side of my thigh and inner thigh. Can this boil be genital herpes? I have only had sex only once in my life and it did not even last for five mins.
Avatar f tn it formed as a sort of cut first and then itformed into a blister-like sore/boil... I eventually noticed another on the outer side of my vagina (on the right side-same side as the leg one)... I get a pulling like sensation..I'm scared but I know it isn't an STD This discussion is related to Blisters on my vagina.
Avatar f tn I have a very painful growth at the top of my thigh, not in the crease, but close to it. It looks like a large pimple. Very red and sensitive to the touch. It has appeared just before my menstrual period starts, grows and then "explodes" with pus and some blood. It has occurred for the past few months, consistently. I'm nervous about seeing a doctor, mainly because I'm not sure which kind of doctor to go see. Gynecologist? General Practitioner? Dermatologist?
Avatar f tn Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean. Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head. Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. You can apply topical antibiotic creams till that time. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Hello, It looks like a boil or an abscess. Apply hot compresses on the boil. As long as the boil is hard, it is difficult draining it. But once it becomes soft, drainage is easy. You need to consult a doctor for its drainage or for prescription of antibiotics. Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. It starts as a reddened, tender area that becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. There are several different types of boils depending on the location: furuncle, carbuncle, cystic acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, or pilonidal cyst.
Avatar n tn From my recent research I think i may have a sebaceous cyst on my left inner thigh, next to my bikini line. I was just wondering how long I should try the warm compresses before I see a physician. It is slightly tender to the touch so I am a little worried it may be inflamed. Any comments would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn just the other day I was using the restroom when I noticed a small lump near my in thigh by my groin. felt a little hard, and i thought it was a zit. but I could not pop it. I have gotten something similar under my armpit, and I left it alone and it went away.
Avatar f tn I recently went to a park with my friend and when I got home, noticed small bumps on my thigh. I assumed they would go away soon enough and didn't bother about them too much. In the next 2 days, the bumps had grown massively to the size of ping pong balls and hurt a lot. In the middle of my ping pong bumps, was a scab and it would come often come off and release pus and blood. I googled this and the signs that matched the most was a boil. However, boils are supposed to be red and soft.

Boil on buttocks is usually due to plugged sweat glands that become infected or by an ingrown hair.
Avatar n tn t a big deal. If the boil is large enough or is starting to form into an abscess, your doctor will first numb the boil and the surrounding area and then make a small incision to allow the pus to drain. The incision is then usually packed with gauze and an antiseptic to allow further drainage. In the meantime, till you see your doctor, use warm damp compresses for 20 minutes three to four times a day as it may help draw the boil out. Take care....

Avatar f tn About 10-12 years ago I started getting abscesses on my inner thigh and underarms. They hurt but I was always able to find the soft center and lance/drain myself. I was diagnosed with hidradentist suppurtiva at 22. Now I only get abscesses on my right butt cheek. I have had 9 drained in a doctors office/ER. I have tried 27 oral antibiotics, finding allergies to 6. I recently finished 1000mg/10 days of Clindomycin after having a third abscess drained in less than a week.
Avatar m tn I've had an abscess or boil on my upper back between my spine and shoulder blade that doesn't seem to be coming to a head but instead drying up or being reabsorbed into the skin. It's about 1 - 2 cm in diameter, pink and a little soft (can feel some fluid inside) but not painful and not getting larger or smaller and I'm having what seems like muscular shooting pain up my neck and down my spine on that same side.
Avatar f tn For the past 4 years I have been getting a boil or blister on my inner thigh. I will get about 2 a year and This happens on both sides of my thigh. After they are healed they leave a scar the looks like a stretch mark. No otter symptoms but what listed above.
Avatar n tn I recently had a boil high on my thigh that had a pea sized abscess. It occurred at the site of a follicle I was picking at. It came to a head about a week ago and is healed over, but still a little red. Also, about 2 and a half weeks ago, I trimmed my pubic hairs with scissors down to about half an inch. I had never done this before, and the hairs poked and itched incessantly for several days.
Avatar n tn Hello, Since you have not mentioned any other symptom, from your symptoms however I would like to rule out the possibility of a boil. A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean. Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head. You can apply Neosporin till that time.
