Abscess after laparoscopic appendectomy

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess after laparoscopic appendectomy

abscess

Avatar f tn They performed a laparoscopic appendectomy and removed a little bit of infection from the area. I spent seven days in the hospital. I’ve now been home for 18 days and I’m still having terrible night sweats. They’ve done bloodwork, urinalysis and a CT scan and say they cannot find nothing wrong. My white count is normal, I never have a fever, and the CT scan shows no sign of infection or an abscess. What in the world could be going on?!
Avatar f tn I have had remains of a burst cyst removed from my right ovary and pelvic floor and an appendectomy 3 weeks ago with laparoscopic surgery. Before being hospitalised my Dr thought i had a UTI and prescribed a 3 day course of antibiotics. Still experiencing pain 3 days later he examined me then admitted me to hospital where i had the surgery. I was gradually starting to feel better this week and hoping to go back to work next week when i started to feel really sore again.
Avatar n tn I recently had a non-laparoscopic appendectomy (not ruptured), in which the surgeon also found some inflammation of the colon about 2" above the appendix. This was also consistent with the pre-op pain being a bit higher than is traditional.

Avatar n tn To the other people that I saw commenting on this when you posted it previously, this is sometimes done. Sometimes the doctor will give you the antibiotic therapy and then wait to take out the appendix until it has "calmed down" a little bit. You really need to ask your doctor which exercises you can do. Without knowing your exact situation we don't know what to recommend. I would call your doctor and ask them this.
Avatar n tn When I went back for my 4 wk checkup the doctor asked me a lot of questions, one was if I had a period and I told him yes. He then informed me that some women do have periods after a hysterectomy. AFTER HAVING A 2ND PERIOD SINCE SURGERY I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS NORMAL OR NOT????? Everyone says it isn't.
Avatar n tn I have been having similar problems (although not as severe), but it seems like the treatment I received may have been a little more conservative. I'm a 35 year old woman and had a laparoscopic appendectomy on 7/6/06. My appendicitis had not perforated, but the surgeon said that the appendix was pretty beat up. The pathology rpt showed some necrosis into the second layer (after the mucosa).
Avatar n tn How long does it take? Can you go back to normal living soon after? Painful? and does it leave a scar? Thanks!
