Common Questions and Answers about Abscess after gallbladder

abscess

Avatar n tn Agree with tdavidson, sounds like gallbladder problems; attacks. I would recommend an US of the gallbladder and a HIDA scan.
Avatar m tn I am 58 year old female and had my gallbladder removed 4 weeks ago, my scars are totally healed and I was feeling great and resume my normal life and normal eating habits (meat included). I have started experiencing real bad upper abdominal pain just under my breast and the pain stretch right around my body. But worse part is where they removed the gall bladder. I do have a spastic colon and are a gerd (or is it gord) sufferer. Is this because of a wrong diet maybe the eating of meat?
Avatar f tn I am 28 yrs old female. I have recurring upper left quadrant pain, radiating thru to under left shoulder blade that is moderate, but severe when I inhale or move a certain way. I also have a constant "ate too much" feeling, and occasionally( for lack of better description) a heartbeat in my stomach area just below where the pain is. I have had several test on the heart as well as GI.
Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar n tn Did they remove the gallbladder also?? You may have more gallstones IN the gallbladder that can irritate even before they get to the bile duct.
Avatar f tn Cholecystitis is the medical name for inflammation of the gallbladder. Cholecystitis is most often the result of an obstruction within a duct in the gallbladder. Gallstones (cholelithiasis) are the most common cause of obstruction within the gallbladder. Left untreated, the inflammation may lead to infection. Other less common causes of cholecystitis include infection, injury and tumors. Inflammation of the gallbladder is a common disease in the United States.

Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed in 2009. I have been having lower right side back pain since late December 2019 that has become increasingly worse and have also since developed sciatica on the same side. I have been seeing a spine specialist to no avail. In my most recent set of images, I should also mention that, in 2017, I had a total hysterectomy with bilateral slapingo-oophorectomy, we noticed that the clips from my gallbladder surgery are now in my lower right abdomen.
Avatar f tn Pancreatitis can result from problems with the gallbladder as well as being due to autoimmune causes - in addition to the well-know 'alcohol' as a cause. You may want to check with her doc to find out if either of those is factoring into her pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn In November 2016 I had 2 gallstones removed, then in mid December I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically (by a different dr.) which resulted in being hospitalized with complications including an abscess in abdomen, hole in duodenum, as well as having to have bile stents and bile bags put in for a period of time. I was discharged at the end of January. In February, when the time came to remove the last stent, the dr. could not remove it because I developed an esophageal stricture.
Avatar f tn Pain in the upper left abdomen and chest area can be due to stomach issues (GERD or hiatal hernia), spleen issues, due to an abscess below the left diaphragm, a hematoma (localized collection of blood), an abscess, or a muscle pull (as it happened while playing). Ultrasound would have ruled out spleen problems and an abscess below the left diaphragm. A CT scan would be more diagnostic. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps.

Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals.
Avatar f tn I have had them in the past and have never had it bulging out of my back, not during the infection and certainly not for weeks after. What else could it be? I am afraid they are just blaming my diabetes and the kidney infection and failing to look at any other possible causes. Any suggestions?

Avatar f tn It really stinks that here I was feeling good after getting the nasty gallbladder out and now I have the breathing issue. I was asked by the pulmonologist's receptionist if I had had a chest X ray and I told her no so it appears that will be done. I'm trying to remain positive in all of this. Thank you again.
Avatar f tn t gotten any better and it seems to be more intense after I eat anything. I had an ultrasound on my upper abdomen that showed nothing and then had a HIDA scan to look at my gallbladder function. This also came back normal. Am I missing something? I'm beginning to second guess my decision in doctors. They now want me to see a GI specialist. I'm not sure how much more of this pain I can take nor do I know how many other tests I can afford. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I started on keflex and scheduled a root canal ASAP. After the root canal and finishing the keflex the abscess was still there. My endontist downplayed it like it's no big deal but he drained the abcess and put me on clymdamycin. Finished all the clymdamycin and the abscess is still there. Endontist says it could take months to heal and sent me on my way. I feel like I need a second opinion. I still have a pea sized abscess on my gums idk what to do.
7607165 tn?1395780125 I also suffered numerous gallbladder attacks, had an abscess removed, had SPD and had to wear support for it. And then I got a slipped disc. Not to mention the baby wouldn't come out, had a c-section days late. But it must be worth it, right? Since we so it again. It's very hard to stay positive when you feel so terribly. :( I really, really hope you start feeling better and start to feel like yourself again.
Avatar f tn My fiance has had moderate pain in his lower right abdomen for about 6 weeks now. He says the pain is worse when he's been sitting for a while, but is not dependent on the food he eats. His doctors is very inattentive and it's preventing him from going back after his last appointment. He had a chest X-ray to see if it was a muscle or skeletal problem, but the X-ray showed nothing abnormal.
Avatar f tn Hence an ultrasound, liver function test and an upper GI endoscopy is needed for diagnosis. A very small subdiaphragmatic abscess on the right side is another possibility. CT scan can detect this. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Take care!
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy which was negative, I have also had a battery of lab tests that were negative. I did have my gallbladder removed 4 years ago and have had a hiatal hernia for 16 year that have been treated with Prilosec effectively. The GI doctor says he can't find anything and my PCP isn't sure what to do. I'm hoping that someone can give me advice. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
