Abscess after discectomy

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess after discectomy

Avatar n tn These helped with the pain, but after approximately 10 of them, I was no longer getting relief. That doctor sent me to a neurosurgeon and I had spine surgery in October 2006. I developed an infection post-surgery. In November 2006 I had a spine debridement surgery to get rid of the infection. Since then I have had horrible pain. I am still on disability from work and I have difficulty sitting or doing almost anything without an increase in pain.
621465 tn?1221541188 I can feel a small malleable mass there, and at first figured it was an ingrown follicle, and waited for it to come to a head. It never did, it just mysteriously disappeared. During and after that I started smelling these mysterious smells... sometimes smelled like burnt dust, mold, vomit, or a smell I can not describe... but all of them were foul. They were not accompanied by a bad taste or any strange residue on my tongue (as sometimes a bad smell can come from the mouth).
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone out there has had a thoracotomy and could let me know if it is atypical to have pain 6 weeks after surgery. I have read about post thoracotomy pain syndrome and I'm concerned that this is what I'm experiencing. I sure hope it will get better because I can't imagine having to live with this pain for the rest of my life! Any advice/information would be appreciated. I'm especially interested in advice about long term pain management after a thoracotomy. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I recently bought a couple of titanium ear studs (surgical grade) which I've worn twice and each time, after about 30 minutes, my throat would become increasingly sore and I would started feel like I was getting the flu or something. After removing the studs over night and going to bed, I would feel fine in the morning and my throat would be almost 100%. I don't know if it this is coincidence but I'm certainly very suspicious of titanium now.
Avatar n tn I was telling my husband about it and he looked at me like i was nuts..lol. I notice after it happens i feel like i have to urinate and after i do it goes away for a bit. So i thought it might have something to do with my bladder. Has anyone else experienced that?
551343 tn?1506834118 I stayed with this neuro for three years. I had periods of being really unwell, bedbound and husband taking time off to look after me. These were hellish years with symptoms. September 2001 neuro discharged me with ME. Five weeks later I had a second opinion with a leading UK MS specialist which my GP had arranged months before. he took hold of my hands and said I had done the right thing in coming to see him. In my notes he wrote "I think this is ms".
