In Nov 2008, I had a swelling below my right breast which was diagnosed as "Abscess". It would ooze out puss with blood and was very painful. After healing,a scar developed around that spot and A FOUL SMELL THAT OF PUS actually emanates from that area(i.e when you touch the area surrounding the scar)
What could be happening inside?
I have fairly white healthy teeth, but I have an abscess behind my tooth, how can I get rid of it, or sooth the pain.
My dog Bella had an abscess removed from her shoulder on Friday, with a penrose drain placed on her leg. The vet told me to flush the drain twice a day with diluted peroxide, however I'm reading online that peroxide is a bad idea. The vet is closed since it is Sunday so I cannot call her until tomorrow. Any suggestions on how I should be caring for the drain until it's removed on Wednesday?
I had to page my dentist the day after Christmas and she called in a prescription for antibiotics and main meds for me.
If not your dentist, then a doctor should be able to do the same for you. Or go to an emergency room or urgent care.
In the mean time, ice water in your mouth can help. Rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. And take vitamin C. Drink lots of fluids, and ibuprofen is probably the best thing for the pain and swelling.
For the last 4 months or so Ive had a thickening of the skin over my right axillae. I has a huge abscess in the area which resolved spontaneously after antibiotics. I noticed the irregularity in my skin soon afterwards. The lump hasnt increased in size but it wont go away either. Any thoughts??....thanks.
I had a severe scraching sensation on by buttock for about 2 weeks following which an abcess appeard on the right buttock. It was treated and cured with antibiotic for 8 days. After few days another relatively small abcess appeared on my left cheek (a large pimple), which was subsequently drained by myself applying antiseptic cream (which ws prescribed by my physician earlier).

Judging by your description, it is most likely a fistula which is a tract that forms from the abscess of your infected tooth that escapes out to the gums. As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area.
I would recommend seeing a dentist and getting treatment started.
I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Dear Guys, I developed abscess three times with in two weeks interval in my groin area.....the last two were big and required surgery with full ansthesia. My doc therefore suggested to escape the shot at least for one week so i did not take the shot last week. I continued to take it again but I developed another abscess on the preannal position. I am afraid it will force me to discontinue the therapy. Has any one exprienced such problem during therapy?
they only thing to get rid of the abscess is to take antibiotics to get rid of the infection and after baby is born they may have to do a root canal or pull tooth all together. mine had to be pulled out. but definitely get it checked out i was told by my dentist that it can get bad enough and get into your blood stream...
While I was on interferon therapy and my resistance was low, I developed an abscess on my buttock that was drained and healed. For several months now I have had pain that feels deeper in the tissue, possibly in the ischeum. It has never come to a point and there is no drainage that I can detect. I cannot see any external signs of swelling or redness. Have not been feverish recently. Could this be an ischiorectal abscess or possibly pudental nerve pain?

I started on keflex and scheduled a root canal ASAP. After the root canal and finishing the keflex the abscess was still there. My endontist downplayed it like it's no big deal but he drained the abcess and put me on clymdamycin. Finished all the clymdamycin and the abscess is still there. Endontist says it could take months to heal and sent me on my way. I feel like I need a second opinion. I still have a pea sized abscess on my gums idk what to do.
I called the dentist, told them I was in pain after the fillings, and all they did was call me back two hours later, saying the dentist looked at my chart and said the filling was deep and the pain is most likely from that and should go away in two weeks,, and they prescribed me a Medrol Dose Pack (steroid) which I have yet to start because I don't know if i really should or not.. What if it's an infection and not just inflammation?
I had a 2 fillings performed on an upper tooth on about a little over a month ago. Before I went in for the filling, I'd been having terrible tooth pain and had developed an abscess on the gum above that tooth. At the same time, I was experiencing a pressure/pulling sensation down my jaw, around my ear and down my neck. I was first given a round of antibiotics, and the pain, abscess and pressure/pulling sensation all went away.
Soon after I had internatal vibrations (head and arms), tightening around neck area, ear and gum pressure and some vision problems. I have had a clear MRI and all blood work came back ok apart from B12 level of 120 and low calcium and vitamin d level, but after taking suppliments these levels rectified themselves. Therefore my doctor has ruled out vitamin deficiencies and the neurologist also seems think there is nothing seriously wrong.
