abilify

712802 tn?1274645485 Don't take abilify with Cymbalta! I take Cymbalta and then I was also put on abilify shortly before my family and I went on vacation to Disneyworld and it was the worst time I ever had! I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin! I was so agitated and could not sleep. I would pace at night! I did get off abilify when I got back and am just on Cymbalta now and am better but I am experiencing things like headaches and heart palpitations so may be getting off Cymbalta, too.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
407790 tn?1397761026 I was on a low dose of Abilify for about three months and while it did help a little with depression (was also taking Cymbalta) I had a lot of weight gain. I was constantly hungry and the medication didn't help matters by slowing my metabolism.
Avatar m tn I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi,My questtion is ,is anyone on just abilify for depression?
Avatar m tn Believe Cymbalta and Effexor are in the same class of drugs. Not familar with Abilify. None of us likes the weight gain that seems inevitable with many antidepressants. Wellbutrin in very stimulating and in another class of antidepressants. Suspect there would be less sexual side effects and weight gain, but others will have to weigh in on it. It never helped me; just amplified the anxiety to point I had to have Soma to relax tight muscles.
5377229 tn?1367102940 Sister having horrible reactions during withdrawl from cymbalta and abilify. What can she do to help herself? She w as taken off both on Wednesday and put on prozac. Can she use tylenol for the headache? Someone told her it is not safe to do. Another person suggested melatonin. Is that safe? She is bi polar and has gained over 100 lbs on these meds over the last 6 years. This is ridiculous! Will she gain on prozac also? What is wrong with these psychiatrists, anyway?
Avatar f tn wow - i'm surprised your pdoc told you that! That's what they are there for... to advise on the side effects of the medications that they are prescribing. It could very possibly be the Abilify side effects, or it could be your anxiety about starting a new med.... If you don't see a let up in symptoms within the next few days I would call your pdoc back and let them know you're having side effects...
Avatar f tn I was supposed to start on 10 mg of Abilify, but my doctor decided to start me at 5 mg at night with the Cymbalta and Valium. I haven't noticed any changes except for extreme tiredness. I can't seem to get enough sleep. I know that the Abilify causes you to be sleepy, but most of the medications do that until they get in your system. I'm sure my doctor will increase the Abilify in the next two weeks.
Avatar n tn According to the side effects listed in the product information anxiety may be one of the psychiatric side effects... so if you had anxiety along with depression prior to being prescribed the abilify then it may be making it worse. This is definately something you should speak to your physician about. Is the doctor that's prescribing these medications a psychiatrist?
Avatar n tn I am just wondering if anyone has experienced elevated mood swings with abilify. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar1 as well as Major Depressive Disorder. I am currently taking Seroquel, Klonopin, Depakote, Cymbalta, and Abilify (day2). I had been taking 600mg of the seroquel and my md lowered my dosage to 300 adding 5mg of abilify. For the past two days (first two days on Abilify) I have experienced extreme mood swings and seem to snap at relatively small things.
Avatar f tn i was on lexapro for 8 days dr stopped it put me on cymbalta and i was on cymbalta in 07 no allergic reaction i haved treid it since then but get scared and stop it if i was ok on it before should i have no problem with alergies and does anyone know of anyone thats been on cymbalta and klonopin and plus i will be going on abilfy on monday i haved fear of meds and think im allergic all the time i have just taking my second cymbalta 10 min ago and alreadt htink im allergic plus i seem unclear thin
Avatar f tn I switched from Prozac to Pristiq when my Prozac pooped out on me after 20 years. I have OCD with panic disorder and was in a bad way with horrible panic and anxiety. The Pristiq worked well but slow. My Doc raised my doses in 50 ml increments until I got up to 200 ml. I felt better little bits at a time but it really kicked in at 200 ml. It goes slow but it does work. Don't give up on it too soon. Don't be afraid to go up in dosage a little bit at a time.
790165 tn?1268836968 I have to agree with ILAD, it's important that you review your meds with an expert, shrinks are well trained in psychiatrict drugs. Actually your psychologist made a wise choice.
Avatar f tn Pls ppl, Do not go onto any dose of Cymbalta w/o investigating it thoroughly. Thr is no exit strategy for Cymbalta and its half-life is only 12hrs; IOW, u cld be on Cymbalta 20mg for the rest of yr life b/c u cn't functn w/o it. Most of the ppl who hv tried to wean thmslvs off Cymbalta face awful serotonin w/drawal symptoms. It is not unusual tht Cymbalta patients hv broken the 20mg capsule and eliminated 1-2 pebbles (out of abt 50 in each capsule) per wk. it's a complete nightmare.
560501 tn?1383612740 STill not improving going to up abilify. She had a change on EEG. Anyone ever have a change on this test?
Avatar m tn Then around 7 years ago I started getting panic attacks, so they put me on some benzos along with cymbalta and abilify. Cymbalta was the worst drug I'd ever been on; I felt like a walking zombie... not depressed, just not anything at all. I've been through three or four different talk therapists and a handful of psychiatrists. I've given up on both due to their lack of ability to listen (anyone else notice that?). I now just receive my rxs from my GP, which is fine...
Avatar f tn First, Pristiq isn't novel, it's just Effexor with part of it cut off, as was done with Celexa/Lexapro. Some will say it's just a way to get another drug on patent, but since people do have very different reactions to Celexa vs. Lexapro, there probably are differences here, too. Second, Cymbalta isn't an ssri, it's an snri like Pristiq. Third, snris can be very stimulating because they target norepinephrine.
Avatar n tn Abilify is an antipsychotic with mood stabilization effects. It is the antipsychotic least likely to cause weight gain. It can work added to any medication your psychiatrist thinks is appropriate. If you've had trouble tolerating Depakoate, Lamictal is another option which is less likely to cause weight gain and cognitive confusion. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
Avatar f tn has put me Abilify 2mg in am along with the Cymbalta with the plan to cut my Cymbalta dose while raising the Abilify. I tell ya, my feet hurt more, my legs hurt more and I feel more depressed and that's without cutting down on the Cymbalta yet. I also gain some weight and crave high carbs and sweets more than I did before Cymbalta alone and the 2 meds together. I've been on abilify for about 5 or 6 weeks. I hope this helps somehow on your daughters' desision.
Avatar f tn I happen to take 4.5 mg. of Klonopin and 90 mg. of Cymbalta -- this combination of drugs has worked for me for a good number of years. In December my Doctor did increase my Klonopin by .5 mg. because I was just diagnosed with kidney cancer -- which did cause a wee bit of anxiety (cancer free now - thankfully - going on four months now!). The increase worked pretty good. I also have Ativan as PRN. If I happen to begin to get anxious, I can either swallow or place one under my tongue...
1240654 tn?1268317515 Weight gain on Abilify is weird - it normally supresses appetite, Ive lost weight with Abilify as an adjunct but i guess it might work differently for other people. I like it, im only taking a smallish dose but it has smoothed out the depression and I feel more capable now.
Avatar m tn ve experienced a major depressive episode. Anyway, I HAVE tried Abilify with Effexor XR. I had to stop taking it because it gave me restless leg syndrome. I couldn't sit still. It may not affect you that way, but that's what it did to me. That was the only negative side effect. I wasn't on it long enough to know if it was beneficial emotionally/psychologically, but I "sensed" that it might have been if I had been able to stay on it.
Avatar f tn I live with major dpression/anxiety and am currently on Wellbutrin XL 400mg, Cymbalta 90 mg, Lexapro 10 mg, Repridal 10 mg and Xanax 3 mg and a couple of other non related meds. My doctor is trying to raise my energy level and simplify my meds. W ould ambilify help with energy? These seem like alot of meds to me,( my fomer doctor kept adding them as the depression did not get better). I am stable now but feel neither here nor there sort of emotionless. Any input would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am bipolar and have been on wellbutrin450mg, cymbalta 90mg, and lexapro 10 mg. I am also on respridal 1 mg to stablize my mood also xanax. They want to try Abilify but I am pre-diabetic and am afraid that would push me over the edge. I have no motivation and do nothing all day. I don't even know what I like when it comes to anything. I know I should exercisd, lose weight and get a life but I am stuck.
202665 tn?1248806733 Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect. I didn't experience any side effects that we could trace back to the Geodon alone. I've heard mixed things about Geodon as general comments, but have found that it tends to work well for people who haven't done well on Abilify... just something I've noticed.
