Abilify for gad

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify for gad

abilify

Avatar n tn Sounds like GAD or general anxiety disorder. You don't mention being depressed. Perhaps a regimen for anxiety would better suit you. I would talk with the doctor again.
Avatar f tn I'm on Zoloft but not for GAD. I have panic disorder although I felt more like it was GAD. its worked wonders for me.
569026 tn?1216982293 Taken several SSRIs in the past for anxiety. Adderall XR for ADD, Wellbutrin too. I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months and he had me go for a psychiatry evaluation a few days ago. The two concrred that I am "complex" and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings.
Avatar n tn I have had memory and concentration problems since last July/August when I took Abilify for one month. I was also taking Klonopin at the time. Before this I was taking Geodon 120 mg. The memory was so bad that I did not understand anything after reading a page in a book. The memory and concentration has become much better but still quite bad. I believe this has a lot to do with decreasing my dose of Geodon over a few months to 10mg.
Avatar f tn t much, but my understanding this drug is only officially approved a last-ditch antidepressant for those for whom nothing else worked. I assume there are good reasons for this limited approval. (Keep in mind doctors can use these meds for anything they want once they're approved, but knowing what they're approved for gives some information on what studies showed). As to that particular side effect, any drug that affects the brain can make one sedated or the opposite, overstimulated.
Avatar n tn But this is just one more bit of evidence that we need to look for safe, natural alternative treatments before writing prescriptions for problems like nausea and vomiting.
Avatar n tn Sometimes I wake up a little while after I fall asleep with my heart racing, shaking from head to toe & a feeling that I can't swallow and I'm going to die. I have to force myself to swallow and it takes a few seconds for it to happen. It's the scariest thing ever!!! I suffer from GAD but I never have had this till recently. I'm sure it's all part of the anxiety but does anyone else experience this too? How can I alleviate these symptoms before I go to slepp?
Avatar m tn Also my problem is mainly GAD and mild depression has come with it. Currenlty, I am taking pregabalin for GAD. Wonder drug for me. I am little concerned with it side effects such as infertility and birth defects. Apart from that I am very happy with this med.
Avatar f tn This drug is for the GAD, but not if it's just for the insomnia. If it helps with the GAD it will apparently help with the insomnia, but antidepressants aren't sleep aids. As the above suggests, melatonin is for sleep. A lot of people are put on drugs that have an unwanted side effect of making people sleepy, but that doesn't make it a good choice for sleeplessness.
Avatar m tn Abilify is actually an antipsychotic drug that has anti-depressant properties. Usually Abilify is used for schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and as an adjunct therapy (add on therapy) for major depression. The treatment prescribed depends on your psychiatrist’s assessment of your case. However, the dose prescribed is the lowest for the drug. Treatment for depression usually begins with a low dose of SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). Some doctors prescribe benzodiazepines too.
1244499 tn?1397545523 I guess I'll start by listing my mental health problems. I have "major depressive disorder", social anxiety, GAD, and panic disorder, but that can't possibly be all. No.... I have been deemed treatment resistant. I have taken.... well, let me put it this way: my psychiatrist recommended electroshock therapy. SSRI's don't work. SNRI's don't work. I don't know what Wellbutrin is, but that's not working with Lexapro, which is the combo I'm currently on.
Avatar n tn my doctor has given to me abilify and wellbutrin, is it good for quit smoke and go school well? i cant go school well. i cant stay in classroom. even i cant go to school. i always want to stay at home. i am out of my home, i quickly want to go back my house. also i smoke 3 packet cigarette in a day. also i have serious sleep disorder. i explained my problems to my doctor. then he gave me wellbutrin and abilify combination. what do you think about it?
Avatar f tn thankz for the advice its hard for me to look for medz especially with a mother that just dont understand how serious this disorder is...
1255936 tn?1296623461 What is the dose for treatment of such disorders and not just a low dose for sleeping? I hear 25mg is really not high enough to be effective for GAD or anything else other than a sleeping aid (why anyone would take a anti-psych for a sleep aid is beyond me). I hear that 200-300 mg is the dose for treating GAD, BP, and depression. I will be seeing my doc tomorrow to discuss increasing the dosage. Any input from anyone on the "front lines" would be awesome! Cheers!
585414 tn?1288941302 Weight gain and the potential of diabetes is a potential for all currently available antipsychotics. Abilify has the least potential to cause this. Abilify and Geodon are activating and can make some people feel anxious. As for Fanapt and Saphris they are newly released and are clinically similar to Abilify but that doesn't mean they will have the exact same profile.
Avatar m tn I have recently started taking pregabalin for GAD and I can honestly tell that it is a miracle drug for me. It has been a week now since I have started taking 50mg pragabalin after meal. All of my GAD symptoms have gone. I don't feel severe anxiety, constant restlessness (akathesia), social anxiety, muscle tension, depression, panic attack e.t.c. Before that I was taking Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin for sexual side effects, Inderrall for heart palpitation and muscle relaxants everyday.
1423878 tn?1282883632 Asking what is the best medication for anxiety is like asking what is the best color. Everyone is different when it comes to medications. Personally for GAD I would first start with a soft antidepressant like Zoloft which have good success history for GAD. But remember that one drug does not fit all like one size does not fit all.
Avatar f tn HI everyone, I am a 32 year old female who has just had an MRI to check for MS lesions. My doctor put on my notes "GAD if needed." When I went for my MRI the technician said that I may need the dye, but the doctor will come in and look at a couple of scans and let them know. It turns out I didn't need the dye, so I was wondering if this means my scans were clear of any lesions? I assume they only need the dye to get a better look at any lesions they see.
Avatar n tn I am having my second bout with GAD after having relief for 18 years with no medication. I have been taking klonopin on and off for the last year. When I use klonopin it makes me feel like a new person. My concentration is improved I laugh my anxiety is gone and I have a general feeling of well being. I have been taking it everyday for the last two months at .25 mg a day in the morning. I know it does not sound like much but it works for me.
Avatar m tn While Xanax is good for the occasional panic attack, it is not the best drug for GAD over the long haul. Klonopin would be better for the long term control of your anxiety. Most Drs prefer it over the Xanax anyways. If you have to keep bumping the Xanax you will end up on high doses and it will become extremely difficult to come off of.
Avatar m tn I have GAD and have had it all my life.. I had an extremely acute 2 year period and am getting much better etc. I was given the option of SSRI's but preffered to try and live with it.. I have to drive to Nebraska and so one of my many phobias fears is Thunderstorms and Tornadoes etc. So am trying to get past this by educating myself and so I can face my fears. I would love any feedback help.
1276940 tn?1564515084 I am a soon to be 42 y/o female that started experiencing "an elephant sitting on my chest" on 2/27/16. It lasted around 15 minutes (I did not have to take any pain reliever for this one) then it went away on it's own. Fast forward to today 3/1/16 and I have sharp pains near my sternum (right between my cleavage) and this lasts for quite a while. So I take some prescription Naproxen.
