Abdominal hysterectomy procedure surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Abdominal hysterectomy procedure surgery

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn There are two ways to do the surgery. The old-fashioned method is called a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, or TAH, meaning the work is done through an abdominal incision. Recovery time is easily 6 to 8 weeks. A Total Vaginal Hysterectomy (TVH) means the uterus and cervix are removed through the vagina. A laparascope is used through tiny incisions in the abdomen to release the structures that hold the uterus in place.
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn I seen a gynaecologist who did the procedure 10 years ago and she is stumped WhT the pain only started now and not right after the surgery.. she was very mean very rude and dodged all my questions as to where doe it come from .the mri showed liquids on or in My utras area and she said it’s nothing to be concerned about . Is there scar tissue ? Is it blocking the draining?? I asked and she kept saying hysterectomy is my only option.. Can scar tissue if that’s what it is be removed ?
Avatar f tn s a common procedure, a hysterectomy is major surgery and takes easily 8 weeks to start feeling human again - particularly the open procedure. If lupron hasn't stopped your periods, then something is seriously whacko with your hormones. That's why it might be beneficial to see a hormone specialist (endochrinologist). They can be difficult to find outside a major city, but please think about it before venturing into major surgery.
Avatar n tn I was really scared before surgery, I had a abdominal hysterectomy. Please dont worry as they will take great care to make sure you are pain free. you will need to ask for pain killers to take home with you, as that will be the most challenging part.. After the 1st week at home you should start feeling much better. Also make sure you start taking hormones right away, as you will start having hot flashes immediatly.
Avatar f tn Due to my diagnosis I was not a candidate for a laparoscopic procedure. I would prepare for the abdominal surgery so you have everything you need in case your doctor ends up going that route. Surgical menopause can be a difficult time for many ladies. Your doctor has probably already discussed hormones. I found a patch worked and still works really well for me. It took me a good 6 to 8 weeks to heal.
Avatar f tn If I have a fibroid in the lining of my uterus and calcification of the uterus wall.
Avatar m tn s not necessarily the Hysterectomy I would not have again, it;s rather any surgery at all. I would have done the Hysterectomy at the start had I known the truth about the fibroids. It's after the first surgery that my problems began. For those asking for advice above, the best advice I can give is to go to a knowledgeable Physician re natural hormone replacement therapy.
Avatar f tn So I am left wondering what this is as it is was not present during 2016, does not show up on a CT, and I have had a full hysterectomy I am completely perplexed. However I am facing my 4th abdominal surgery to correct my constant pain and discomfort and now have this unknown mass to deal with. If anyone has any insights or a similar story I would greatly appreciate the info.
Avatar n tn Dr thought it was scar tissue from a hysterectomy since I had to have this procedure 2 years ago. Not the problem. Have had a CT. upper GI, SBFT, ultrasound and xrays. All tests including bloodwork was negative. Did find acid reflux and a small hiatal hernia. Am not having any luck with doctors taking this seriously. Avatar n tn This was my third, but unlike before, they found no endometriosis. Instead they found my uterus had adhered to my abdominal wall. Because of this, he was unable to move my uterus to look around for endo. The doctor had suggested a hysterectomy (but leaving my ovaries). My question is has anyone had this done and has it alleviated their pain? I've been having IBS symptoms and excrusiating cramping and abdominal pains (like when you have a bad bout of gas) but it's constant!
Avatar m tn Can you say what procedure you had?was it abdominal or vaginal? Does your bowels and bladder work well? Dr.
Avatar f tn s a light at the end of this tunnel. I had an abdominal hysterectomy in 06 due to fibroid tumors, only left ovaries. Then March 08 had my gallbladder removed. So this is number three and hopefuuly the last. I dread waking up after surgery it's always the worst for me. Wish me luck the patholigists find NOTHING abnormal.
Avatar f tn Give yourself time to heal - 3 days post op is really not a lot of time for recovering from major surgery such as a hysterectomy. I had a complete hysterectomy in 1997. I would say my post op pain started to subside about 5 days or so post op, but I definitely noticed a difference in pain level (to the better) after I had my staples removed (if I remember correctly, that was done about a week or week and a half after surgery).
1394194 tn?1282571416 I am still too early in my surgery to even consider sex but I just wanna know. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on July 8th. And stay hungry alot for some reason. And I also have severe bloating in my stomach and always passing gas. There is also still a lil drainage but other then that I am fine. Doc says it was also ok to drive. But I am so concerned about the sex part. Can someone plz help me. I was also able to keep one of my ovaries.
Avatar f tn Was your surgery open or lap assisted vaginal hysterectomy? Mine was open and I had the bloat for a good 8 weeks, and it still got worse after that. As it turned out, I had massive scarring (adhesions) from the surgery and lost a couple feet of colon as a result. If you're having any bathroom issues along with the bloating, make sure you tell your doctor about it. Adhesions are less common with the laparscopic procedure, but not unheard of.
Avatar f tn If anyone here has had similar experience, perhaps similar history of more than a few abdominal procedures followed by a hysterectomy, or any other words of wisdom, I would be most grateful to hear from you.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 31 years old and had a TAH, bladder suspension, and rectocele procedure done on Aug 3 of this year. It has been almost 4 months and I am having some pretty bad abdominal pain. It feels like Im having menstrual cramps. Also, my bladder surgery apparently didnt work since I have become incontinent again. Is the cramping normal after having the hysterectomy so long ago?
Avatar f tn I awoke to find that what was supposed to be an outpatient procedure had turned into a full abdominal surgery while I was knocked out. Apparently the doctor was wrong and it was, in fact, urine. I had a hole in my bladder causing urine to leak out through my vagina. I was given a catheter for 2 weeks.I had the catheter removed on February 5th. On the 9th my husband I lost my willpower and my husband and i had sex. We have had sex several times since.
Avatar n tn I had a total abdominal hysterectomy a year ago for symptoms of bloating, pain, enlargement of my post-ablation uterus, etc. During the surgery and after removal of the reproductive organs, a softball-sized dermoid cyst was discovered in my left lower pelvic area. I healed well but have recently noticed pain and other symptoms in the area where the cyst was removed, along with swelling in that same area and other symptoms. Could it be the cyst has grown back?
Avatar f tn Off and on severe lower abdominal pain of my left side. Ultra sound shows hematometra and abdominal thickening. I am 46 and had a tubal in 2006, ablation in 2011. Should i be concerned?
411980 tn?1267555591 I have to have the open abdominal surgery and i would like to be awake for the surgery i want to be aware of whats going on. I have had 3 c sections and i was sleep for one and awake for the other two and i didnt do well when i was put to sleep. Does anyone have any experience with being awake for that procedure? I am really stressed about it and I am worried that i wont be allowed to remain awake for the procedure....
Avatar n tn Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar f tn But she says that i still have follicles on both ovaries and she wants to do a diagnostic laproscopy and a ablation on my uterus lining and she wants to see if i have endometrosis and if i do she is going to laser off the spots- because I have severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, severe vag bleeding and pain during intercourse. My question is i actually had two choices-one was the ablation and the other was implanting a IUD in my uterus. I have already had a tubal 2 years ago.
