hysterectomy

1043568 tn?1253450188 I am 54 years old and I was still pretty regular before the Tamoxifen. My gynecologist is recommending that I get a radical (abdominal) hysterectomy since I am still having periods. I had a D&C last year and had a benign polyp removed. Just had a trans-vaginal ultrasound 2 weeks ago and everything was fine.
Avatar f tn Not sure what to do, I am fifty, perimenopausal, Dr says I have complex ovarian cysts and endometriosis, (also two types of bladder problems going on) Dr says that I also tested positive for the MTHFR gene which makes me high risk for not surviving a hysterectomy, says if I do survive, I would have to go to a nursing care facility, also told me that she cannot say that I do not have ovarian cancer, ca-125 was normal, she says I have alot going on, put me on pill for bladder, wants me to start in

478868 tn?1209031705 I also had an abdominal hysterectomy last May 2007...A week after the surgery I had difficulty walking and standing straight up and I was getting sicker and sicker..so the Dr did a ct-scan which showed that I had ruptured my intestines from severe vomitting and through the staples I had a protruding area...I also had many other complications but they had to do an emergency surgery to repair it...
Avatar n tn Hi, The cause of neuropathy is not excess of estrogen but a complication of surgery most of the times . Abdominal hysterectomy is said to be the most frequent cause of iatrogenic femoral nerve injury and the offending factor is the self-retaining retractor, which entraps the nerve between its metal blade and the bony lateral pelvic wall. However uncommon, lithotomy position during vaginal hysterectomy can also be the culprit. Please consult a neurologist for the treatment .
Avatar f tn I am 3 weeks post-op after having had a total abdominal hysterectomy with BSO. Spent 10 days in the hospital with a pretty bad post-op abdominal infection, 104 temps, large bowel ileus, vomiting, the whole gammit. Now I am home and healing, but having repeated hot flashes and night sweats. I'm finding it very hard to sleep, and along with the hot flashes are ridiculous spurts of being very quick to anger. Normally, I'm am a pretty calm person and not quick to anger.

Avatar f tn So I am left wondering what this is as it is was not present during 2016, does not show up on a CT, and I have had a full hysterectomy I am completely perplexed. However I am facing my 4th abdominal surgery to correct my constant pain and discomfort and now have this unknown mass to deal with. If anyone has any insights or a similar story I would greatly appreciate the info.
299748 tn?1235156791 I had 3 pregnancies all C-section deliveries and an abdominal hysterectomy thru the same scar. I am going to have to have open abdominal suregery again in a few wks to remove my remaining ovary as it has turned into a large mass suspicious for ovarian cancer. My GYN who is also a friend, said it will be a huge mess also because of all the scar tissue, and adhesions that form from multiple surgeries. I am certainly not looking forward to it, or to way my belly will look after surgery.
Avatar n tn A recent article posted by the New England Journal of Medicine reported an abdominal pregnancy after hysterectomy though it was terminated at 12 weeks. Does this open the possibility of having children for women that had to have a hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn I had an abdominal hysterectomy and the pain is not always there now but could there still be a possibility of infection or internal bleeding? I was also told it could be a strain. I guess what i am really asking is, was having sex at 3 weeks a really dangerous thing to do? And is it possible that it wasnt what was making me hurt but maybe just over doing it, housework and maybe too much on my feet? Today and yesterday i have had no pain at all.
Avatar f tn I am a 53 year old female who is experiencing abdominal fluttering on the right lower side of my stomach. I have had a complete hysterectomy. What could be causing this? It is not painful, just annoying. This discussion is related to abdominal fluttering.
Avatar f tn By all means get a second opinion before the hysterectomy. The attitudes about hysterectomy vary from region to region and from city to the suburbs... I live in a smallish WI town where docs sound like the writer's doc- 'just take the darn thing out' is the usual comment in this 'neck of the woods'! And I admit to coming across many women over the years who were very grateful for 'the change'. BUT...
Avatar f tn ..I have had a hysterectomy , but my right ovary and cervix were left. My CT results were read twice. Because I told them I didn't have a uterus when it came up 18mm fibroid on the fundus of the uterus twice. So that was left. I have went to a gastroenterologist. Liver function test fine. Gastroenterology were wondering why I was there. But ordered at upper abdominal ultrasound. Then wanted to do a colonoscopy too.. I don't think so.

2131142 tn?1335648576 After many different treatments I opted for a total hysterectomy aged 36 had no children and was told before this that I probably had a 5% chance of conceiving through IVF. Although I don't get the horrible period pains I am still in almost permanent pain from what I was told were probably adhesions and I've pretty much been left for the past 10 years to cope on my own.
