Common Questions and Answers about Abdominal hysterectomy healing process

hysterectomy

Avatar m tn An associate said that due to the lack of certain hormones present after a hysterectomy it may hinder or slow the process of healing of broken/fractured bones. Is this true?
Avatar n tn The bad news is that surgery itself is a risk factor for adhesive disease because adhesions are related to the healing process and some patients form more scar tissue than others. As to who should perform your surgery is better addressed by your gynecologist. Either of the above mention specialist are capable of appropriately making the diagnosis and surgically managing disease when safe to do so. Thank you, Erich T.
Avatar n tn You are still very early in the healing process. It takes at least 6 months for full internal healing. Also, if ovaries were removed or they fail post-hysterectomy, then the severe loss of ovarian hormones will likely cause a number of symptoms including inability to sleep normally and fatigue amongst others. Please be sure to take it easy during the recommended time frame for optimal healing. It may be helpful to journal symptoms so you can discuss with your doctor.
Avatar n tn I had an abdominal hysterectomy 8 days ago. The stables were removed 5 days later but due to fluid build up, the surgeon recommended wet to dry dressing twice a day. The incision is now partially open ,approx 7 cm long, 3 cm deep and 1 1/2 cm wide. Is there a less painfull method of healing than packing it twice a day?
Avatar n tn I had a abdominal hysterectomy in April, because of abnormal bleeding everyday for a year and a half. It is now October and i am still having abdominal discomfort is this normal??? I used to sleep on my stomach and now when I find myself on my stomach i wake up in discomfort.
Avatar f tn I have requested a vaginal hysterectomy in an effort to expedite healing time. My Dr wants to take my ovaries. I am 40 with 3 children - and have no itention to have more. I had a tubal ligation in 2000, and an endometrial ablation in 2010. The ablation only partially worked. I have very light periods, but tremendous pain. My Dr recommends a total hysterectomy due to andometriosis. My maternial grandmother had uterine cancer and had a hysterectomy before 40.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to do abdominal crunch and exercise like this or should I wait until next month... and what exercise can I do .
Avatar f tn t get a urinary infection and will also help with the healing process). I found for the first week or so at home, I was more comfortable sleeping propped up on the couch as opposed to in bed - you use a lot of abdominal muscles trying to lay down and get up out of bed. Also be sure to dress in comfortable clothing - something that will not rub against your incision area - even if that means living in a nightgown for a few days!
Avatar f tn I would not wait until 10/30! This could all be the normal healing process for you because we do all heal differently but to put your mind at ease ~ Please be seen by a Dr.!
Avatar f tn I had an abdominal hysterectomy and I had staples and they took them out two days later. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, hope your feeling ok.
Avatar f tn brief background-30 years old had hysterectomy in Feb this year. have a 2 year old and 8 month old (born dec 07)Past surgerys-4 laborscoptic and 1 hysteroscopy. Started having pains during intercourse and bleeding about 2 1/2 months ago. Had a polyp removed. Waited the healing time. Still having the pain. Went other day to get ultrasound to check ovaries. Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy that started out laparoscopic then went to abdominal? Do you have any advice for recovery ? Tips? Heads up?
Avatar f tn yes, it is very normal to have pain such as described during the healing process...the muscles and nerves are all affected by surgery! Burning is usually nerve and stabbing, pinching and so on muscles...When I had my first surgery when those nerves began to wake up the pain almost brought me to my knees...by surgery number 8...I am pretty well versed on what to expect and it's normal for all sorts of things to happen during the healing phase...
Avatar m tn s most likely normal healing. The bloating is most likely just your body adjusting and fluids retained in the healing tissues. be patient your are only at 2 months (8 weeks) that is VERY early in the healing phase...they did ALOT of work in there! if it feels ok and you are ok'd to do exercise at this point...I would suggest gently stretching the area to keep the scar tissue pliable (yoga is how I do this and after 8 abdominal surgeries...

Avatar f tn I am 3 weeks post-op after having had a total abdominal hysterectomy with BSO. Spent 10 days in the hospital with a pretty bad post-op abdominal infection, 104 temps, large bowel ileus, vomiting, the whole gammit. Now I am home and healing, but having repeated hot flashes and night sweats. I'm finding it very hard to sleep, and along with the hot flashes are ridiculous spurts of being very quick to anger. Normally, I'm am a pretty calm person and not quick to anger.
Avatar f tn HI, The granulation tissue responds well to cauterization and the irregular bleeding should stop soon. Also the oestrogen cream will help with the healing process. Hence you should be all right soon. There should not be any major side effects. Hope this helps.

1045603 tn?1254584905 I have been on hydrocodone for over 10 years for chronic abdominal pain. I started out taking 5/500 then was up to 10/325 because the tylonal was causing stomach pain and vomiting. I recently had three surgeries since May 09 the last two with in a week the end of Aug 09. I am taking 5/500 and down to two a day. I am still healing after surgery but feel so much better. Up until I started taking the higher dosages I could quit CT and would go for weeks with out it and no withdraw.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced this? I had a total adominal hysterectomy 8 weeks ago. Recovery went generally well, but about 4th week I began to have sharp needle type pain, tingling, sensitivity to touch on my stomach above the incision. Also, pressure and pain on the lower right side of my stomach. I saw my dr for post op. She pretty much said she had no clue what it was. I've gone back to work now and these symtoms are painful. Any clues?
