Common Questions and Answers about Ab workout at work

Avatar f tn I'm 36 weeks, 2-3 days (my doctor's office says I'm a day ahead of what my app says) and every so often, I get this feeling in my abdomen as if I have just completed in "Insanity" style ab workout. I've got that burning, tense abdominal muscle sensation. It's hard to describe it's not exactly like contractions, it's more like a constant tense feeling. Has anyone else felt this being in their 3rd trimester?
Avatar n tn t do any impact stuff like hitting the bags. But most of the women at the dojo who had babies say that ab work outs help with delivery. One think to point out is that I've been doing this for two years so I've decreased from when I normally do.
395769 tn?1318449682 m 4 weeks pregnant and because of a past miscarriage paranoid about continuing my usual workout. It consists of a mix of cadio strength training and ab workout for a 20minute non stop work out. Do you all think it is safe to continue ?? Am I being paranoid?? I don't have an appointment until next week.
Avatar m tn For a ab work out you can go to a trainer or just search on YouTube. Studies show that the best results for your toning is by changing the routine of your workout, so do a different ab video, everyday! Also for some people every other day of working out shows better results. That's up to you! For a diet there are certain foods like pine apple that supposedly take away blotting in the stomach. Hope I helped!
Avatar n tn When I did crunches I always put my fingertips behind my ears without any pressure. Your abs should be the only thing working your body during an ab routine. So definitely try again but maybe try a more recent workout. There's a GREAT ab workout routine at s park p eople (no spaces) and the trainer will talk to you about how to do them without straining your neck. Good luck!
Avatar n tn First of all, it is not "known" you "have" to work out your abs every day. You don't have to work them out at all if you don't want to. So obviously you have a goal in mind. There are no experts on these forums, just people who do what you do, hopefully, who can share experiences. But abs are basically part of a core workout, while other muscles might not be.
Avatar f tn And be careful about many ab exercises, since many can cause back problems later on. In fact, most crunches work the lower back as hard as they do the abs, and all that twisting can be a strain. Not that anyone knows how to best work the abs, though, as far as I can tell. For six pack abs, quite frankly, most who have them don't get them through exercise -- it's a sure sign of steroid use, since the belly should have some fat.
Avatar f tn Still working out 5 days/ week at 30 weeks. Running, hiking, yoga, exercise videos.
616227 tn?1251076398 Well, since that ab workout also worked quads, I couldn't do them. I worked quads yesterday. BUT, just to make you happy, Skailark, I did crunches with bicycle legs - even though I did my regular 100 crunches yesterday in class. Yep, I'm gonna just love you tomorrow, Sergeant! FYI: It's okay to work abs EVERY DAY, but not other muscle groups. The instructor I had yesterday is heavy on legs, so we did tons of lunges and squats - and I was toting a 12lb body bar.
Avatar f tn I had an ovarian cyst removed on Tuesday 6/21. My doctor told me to go back to work the following Monday. I have been back at work for 3 days and it seems like I'm not healing at all anymore because I'm walking, bending and lifting light objects. I just don't know what the recovery time is and if I went back too soon? I just want to feel better and I still feel like I did an extreme ab workout and it's miserable. I just need advice!
Avatar f tn Pregnancy brain wrong work lol .. depends on your workout I know some that worked our until their due date also. She ran the morning she went in labor even.
Avatar f tn Jogging a mile every other day, crunches and some ab workout videos. Also started a plank challenge around the same time. After a few days, my stomach was sore to be expected but since then, I've been getting these weird stomach cramps that lasted a few days. All day yesterday, my stomach felt fine until I jogged a mile at lunch. About an hour later, my stomach feels tight right under my navel and there is this consistent dull ache.
Avatar f tn Strong abdominal muscles without a strong back pose a higher risk of back issues than having weak ab muscles. Every ab workout should include back exercises. Some ab exercises already engage back muscles such as planks or Pilates. Exercises that target the back include the lumbar extension, which involves laying prone on the floor or a ball, and lifting your head and shoulders by using your back muscles. You can have your hands on the floor or ball for support, but don't use them to push.
Avatar f tn I started working out after my baby was around 5 months and it did NOT hurt at all. I ran 20 minutes, did 50-100 ab crunches a day and a few minutes of planks/pilates. I also wore a post-natal belt for 5-6 hours a day since 3 months after my delivery and that helped tighten the ab muslces. In short- NO pain when I finally started working out, but you have got to stay flexible throughout.
Avatar f tn I have found that it helps calm down the morning sickness and helps with my fatigue levels. I have been doing a low key workout which includes Ab work, lower back exercises, glute work and Kegel exercises. I have found some great videos on YouTube for 1st trimester workouts. Pilates and pre-natal Yoga come highly recommended.
Avatar f tn I know you can continue to work out but I would ask the Dr which workouts are ok just to be safe. Maybe it's because I'm almost 36wks but I couldn't picture myself jumping rope lol. But I'm pretty sure keeping up with a workout routine will help you have an easier delivery.
Avatar n tn I was a muscle growth workout before getting pregnant, so I cm just changed the direction of exercise. More cardio because I hate cardio more than anything. Since we're hoping for a natural birth I've been doing yoga. It gets harder the bigger you get. I'm at 28 weeks. Yoga birthing squats are easier but regular squats don't work too well for me because of having so much weight in the front. Ibe gained a lot of weight already, but it's mostly in my breasts and butt.
10203682 tn?1418693754 So I did my workout today and it had a little tiny but of ab work to where it really didn't feel bad at all but right now I just walked past a moror and my baby bump is all the way up, more than usual to where the bottom of my belly sags.. I was chubby before my pregnancy so I know I have that little bit down there but now there's a clear definition of baby and my fat.. Is this ok it's kind of scary..
Avatar f tn This sounds a lot like pre-ejaculate fluid, which is thin, clear & sticky. I don’t think this is all that unusual - at times in the past if I was doing ab exercises, the movements can kind of stimulate the prostate & cause a slight amount of fluid to be expelled. I remember reading a post some years ago by a guy who said he actually ejaculated while doing an intense abs workout.
Avatar f tn Push ups, arm work outs, bridging, water aerobics, jogging, walking, hiking are all good! The only things to avoid are ab work outs and twisting to much. Your body creates relaxitin during pregnancy so your tendons and ligaments become really relaxed and you can easily pull/twist things, so be careful!
Avatar f tn am 5 weeks 5 days and I was wanting to know if it is safe to continue light ab workouts 5 to 7.5 minutes a day. Things like crunches and sit ups.
Avatar f tn I have been trying to do some exercises since I hear that exercise tends to lighten up nausea/morning sickness. My stomach has been feeling sore (muscle wise -- like after an ab workout) I normally like to do bridges (lay on back then raise self up so only feel and hands are on the floor, stomach is in air) to relieve this type of pain, is it okay to do this during the first trimester?
616227 tn?1251076398 Put 2.2 miles on my pedometer at work, got 30 min workout on Wii Fit, walked short way with hubby and dogs (without pedometer), 2 min on cardio glider (health rider), plus some housework. Not too shabby for not having a chance to be at it regularly for several days. Limited food, but did give in to mini chocolate bar (naughty, naughty). No work out tomorrow - the dreaded 3 hour glucose tolerance test, along with other blood work in the morning, then approx 200 mile road trip after that.
