Common Questions and Answers about A symptom of alcohol poisoning is

alcohol

Avatar n tn My friend died of alcohol poisoning with a BAC of 0.70 does this not seem extremely high, is this possible?
Avatar m tn Sounds like a bad reaction with another drug you had in your system at the time. 6 oz of beer is not enough to do anything. You symptoms are indicative of another problem and you should see a medical professional.
Avatar m tn "normal" doesn't always mean drinking. My grandmother has never had a drink in her life, but she was a regular at many parties and bars. She has fun without the alcohol. For some people, normal means no alcohol at all. I too suffer from OCD and can understand your obsessive thoughts and how they can take over your life. What I've found to help me is my weekly group (love them) and a journal. A lot of positive talk to yourself will help too.
Avatar m tn t urinate for some reason except once after I started drinking (and I just found out every time you urinate 10% of it leaves your body) and I drank on an empty stomach. Is that enough that I got a small case of alcohol poisoning? I woke up puking everywhere which I never do unless I'm REALLY sick and I was shivering even though my family member says it was hot in here and I don't get cold easily on top of that and I was confused and other unpleasant things.
Avatar m tn Ya know when you drink that irresponsibly, you are going to have to expect it is not going to be good for your health. I mean who knows what the shortness of breath is all about, but you have a bigger problem in that you do "6 to 9 shots of some pretty heavy stuff"!!! Think you are an alcoholic???
Avatar n tn t get all of what she said, but I understood that I had been diagnosed with acute alcohol intoxication (alcohol poisoning), that I spent the night in a vodka-induced coma and that I could've died. I think she said my blood alcohol content was 500 or .50. They kept me under observation all afternoon, tested my urine, and I had to call my parents to pick me up. After that, I had the most awful hangover for a week.
Avatar n tn 1) reach a level where the rate of alcohol elimination (and its effect on the respiratory system) far outpaces the time required (so to speak) for brain damage to occur at any particular BAC level (also realize that at high BAC levels, elimination is non-linear due to the action of enzymes not usually involved in the process with elimination rates around -.
Avatar f tn One time, I drank 1/3 of a bottle of whiskey (700ml bottle) in 30 minutes and passed out. I threw up and slept for 8 hours. I didn’t receive any medical care. I read that alcohol poisoning can be life threatening. That it can cause dehydration, then low blood pressure and low oxygen supply to the brain. Also, that it can slow down your breathing, also causing low oxygen supply to the brain. My questions are: Did I suffered alcohol overdose?

Avatar m tn t keep multiple things in mind at a time.Is it alcohol poisoning or something else.i consulted a psychiatrist and he said it was becoz of sensitivity. If itz a case of sensitivity ,why I m experiencing problems still now after 3 weeks .On the contrary if itz poisoning ,how can small amount of ethanol cause poisoning..?
672475 tn?1227793166 Last Halloween, about a month ago, I went to a party and drank for about the 5th time in my life, I started with beer, and ended up taking shots (More like mouth-fulls...) of hard alcohol out of a glass... not even a shot glass... A few minutes later, I puked on the table I was sitting at, stumbled to the bathroom and continued to puke for hours on end...
Avatar f tn I drank one of his alcoholic beverages. It has been a year since I drank it. The drink he made contains %40-45 of alcohol and I drank approximately 400-500 ml of it. I didn't feel bad that night except being drunk. I slept well and even though I have headache too often, I didn't even suffer from headache that day. The thing that I am worried about, is it possible that the alcohol I drank can be methanol and I survived it?
574118 tn?1305135284 the reason is that the meds which handles one symptom like omega3 helps the other. If this is so, then curcumin which is the best food worldwide to handle inflammation must help relieve depression. Curcumin is one of the ingredients of curry frequently eaten in India and Pakistan. Does anybody know the statistics of depression there. Usually scientists to study the effect on health of a certain supplement they study the diet of the people in a certain country in which they consume much of it.
Avatar f tn Hi, so I'm 32. I never drank until my early 20s, and usually I just have a couple of drinks on weekends with friends. Unfortunately, a couple of times a year for the past few years, I've had an extreme episode. Not quite alcohol poisoning, but so drunk that I browned out memory-wise, and twice blacked out the end of an evening. These incidences were very far apart, like, 6 months or more, over the course of five or 6 years.
Avatar m tn The reason i'm writing is because after the bad experience at the hospital of being told he is a bad drunk, needs to sober up and stop drinking so much without doing a thorough diagnosis or listening to us explain the situation, he does not want to go back to a doctor unless the symptoms could suggest something serious. one friend hinted at Lymes Disease as a possible cause but usually that causes nausea, not 1 hour of normal behavior then insta-black-out drunk and loss of memory.
Avatar f tn I might mention, losing her friendship is not losing her. A lot of times kids prefer to have a parent than a friend, they are comforted by someone asserting calm authority where they are not themselves sure. Your strength and certainty will be her security. Also, I am sorry to have to mention this but I'm sure you have thought of it -- she is 15, female, and was drunk to the point of alcohol poisoning.
Avatar m tn A recent lab test showed an ALT number of 857. What does a number that high actually mean?
Avatar f tn Peripheral neuropathy is more of a symptom than a diagnosis. I guess Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy (Peripheral Neuropathy with unknown cause) could be a diagnosis. Peripheral neuropathy can be from toxins (including alcohol,) Diabetic Neuropathy, etc. Once all the "symptom related diseases" have been ruled out, and you can't find a cause, then a diagnosis of Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy would seem appropriate.
Avatar f tn The only way to know would be to see a doctor and maybe an MRI of your brain. Alcohol poisoning is not a joke, and damage that could be caused by lack of oxygen isn't either.
Avatar f tn My son is only 25, was a VERY HEAVY drinker and just got out of ICU, diagnosed with Hepatitis Liver. Doctor told him his liver is SHOT!!! He has to go tomorrow for more blood work to see if his enzymes are coming down, but his skin and eyes are VERY yellow and he is very depressed, thinks he is going to die. I don't know what to tell him becuz I don't know if this will get better.
Avatar m tn Itching can certainly be a symptom of liver disease. Elevated levels of Bilirubin can cause pruritus (itching). In fact, I was completely unaware of my Hep C until I went to the doctor seeking relief from the itching that was (and is) driving me nuts. Good luck.
Avatar m tn If there is no history of trauma (such as biting your tongue on accident), the best thing to do is to see your dentist or oral surgeon for them to perform a biopsy.
Avatar m tn I know from first hand experience that a lot of things go through your mind when you think someone may have alcohol poisoning, and there is a natural reaction to hope you are wrong and wait to see if the person to be OK, and that people may very well get mad if you are wrong and drag them to the hospital.
