Common Questions and Answers about A cold vs allergies

cold

Avatar f tn Depends on what kind you choose, my doctor and my local pharmacist recommend me only using....Ricola natural Honey-Herb. Other cough drops contain a few ingredients that haven't been studied enough to know the possible side effects. Ask a pharmacist, detail how many weeks you are. I can also suggest a homemade tea that's helpful!!! Fresh Chamomile with both the flower and stem, fresh lime, cinnamon and honey. It's simple to make.

Avatar n tn It seems like i start feeling better with morning sickness and something else hits! Im not sure if i have allergies or a really bad cold . Ive tried allergy meds and cold meds and nothing helps ! Puffs tissues with vicks and lotion are my best friend right now.
Avatar f tn by saearl, 1 hour ago My now 7 month old baby girl has had coughing and respitory issues for the last few months. She got a cold when she was 3 months old (we have a 4 year old in preschool who has had a terrible year with colds), with a small cough and runny nose back in October. I had her chest listened to every 2 weeks and was told that she was all clear.
Avatar n tn im 26 year old woman. I always get lingering coughs when I've had a cold or flu. Ive noticed i do often feel a bit faint or out of breath, and feel like my heart is beating too fast (my heart is ok though, ive had heart echo recently). I cycle to university and sometimes I will just feel quite short of breath while riding (which is odd as I expect I should be getting fitter).
Avatar f tn Hello and thank you for your question. Sorry for a delay in response. This is a really interesting question and we encourage you to talk to your doctor about it. This article may shed some light on things. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/purified-vs-distilled-vs-regular-water Every location has their own way of purifying water. Perhaps yours does something that does not agree with you.
1302779 tn?1287405029 Hey all this might sound like a silly question but I have a cold. I also get chronic migraines and want to know what people with migraines take when they get a cold to not trigger migraines?
Avatar f tn I thought it was allergies, then I thought it was a cold, then I thought it was a sinus infection, but I found out that congestion is normal during pregnancy because you have more blood flow going through your body so the more blood flow in your nasal area causes the vessels to swell causing congestion. I was told by my doctor that Sudafed was safe to take, so I took it and had a very healthy pregnancy and baby, but some people will say absolutely no to take that.
Avatar n tn I haven't had my first pre natal appt yet and I'm kinda getting a cold/allergies Cuz of all this cold nasty weather. And all I'm doin now is drinkin orange juice but my nose is stopped up/runny and I got drainage in my throat. What kinds of meds are safe for me to take being pregnant?
Avatar f tn I have been having episodes of lips swelling and facial swelling for the past 20 years. I have been tested for all allergies and they told me that they could not find anything that I am allergic to....recently had a severe facial swelling and the doctor in the ER mentioned HAE. I am being tested for HAE, but does anyone have any information regarding this rare disease? I understand that traditional methods of epi-pens, benedryl and prednisone does not help!! A little nervous here......
7406493 tn?1453999212 I suffer from seasonal allergies as well but unfortunately there is nothing that we can do about it cause the medicine that I would normally take is not recommended for pregnancy.
Avatar m tn In the wake of the Ebola Virus, SARS, and Bird Flu scares, and now with Swine Flu (Mexico Flu) sweeping the planet, and with the continued overuse of antibiotics giving promise of worse to come, the reader is urged to consider this article in a most serious light. Avatar m tn Cold is not usually associated with all you listed out. Though it comes with cold or winter season often or with somebody that responds to change of temperature readily. All the things you said shows more of allergy, it now depends on if you have a family history of such or is just occuring to you.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had really bad allergies or a cold lately if so what did or do you take?
Avatar f tn the only thing that clears me up is benedryl and or a hot 20 minute shower breathing the stean really helps anyways im going crazy and going to get an appt with an ear nose and throat specialist my doctor recommended i do so plzs i just cant breath normal anymore so im pretty much forced to also what helps a bit are the menthol nose inhalers try it goodluck and leider me know anything u find that helps u please as i hate meds and am losing my mind and going througj a box of tissues a day :-(
Avatar f tn Yes I think it's normal I experienced the same thing I think it's because the immune system is protecting us nd baby so it's a lil easier to be affected by the cold nd things that mess with our allergies
Avatar f tn I've been getting sick with a cold just about once a month for the past 6 months. My doctor told me it's because my asthma and allergies are not under control. I was on Advair for a few months, and they switched me to Asmanex because I was still getting frequent coughs. I'm on Zyrtec for allergies. I haven't been to an allergist yet to see what I'm allergic to (have an appointment coming up).
Avatar f tn sudafed robitussin dm tylenol cold, mucinex zicam zyrtec all can be takin for cough cold/ allergies all this were approved by my Doctor
Avatar m tn Hmmm......in my opinion, this is a sinus issue, secondary to what is the question. Being that this has been going on for 4 months I would find it difficult to believe or say this is any "cold" or any other viral or bacterial infection unless you are experiencing reinfections. No physician's visit yet? If not, please do that.
Avatar n tn Whenever I am exposed to cold weather or cold water, my skin will become red and I could feel a burning sensation. Sometimes, my skin will also become itchy and swelling occurs. Also, I have fainted after swimming in a cold water environment. Not only that, I feel that I am going to faint even if I exercise in a warm environment (i.e jogging on the treadmill). At first, I thought that my low-blood pressure causes it.
Avatar f tn It sounds more like allergies than a cold, maybe even chronic sinusitis. I would get allergy testing done and try antihistamines instead of cold meds. Vitamin C with Quercitin and bromelain are great natural antihistamines, I prefer liquid natural treatments. Hope this helps.
