Avatar f tn Its difficult to find recipes devoid completely of fat. Try consuming easily digestible carbohydrates, make appetizing hot meals, this should help. In general avoid all food high in fat and cholesterol. Also avoid all food high in calories and include plenty of high fiber diet. Avoid all fried food, fatty red meat, whole milk dairy products and highly processed food. Include plenty of fresh fruits, high fiber vegetables, whole grains, lean meat and low fat dairy products.
Avatar n tn I hope you mean you are 187 and trying to lose weight instead of 87 lbs? Only a child should weight 87 pounds. Even if you are 4'11-5'0, you should weigh at least 100 pounds. If you are looking to eat healthy: look up recipes for fatty liver disease. It's pretty much a vegan diet plus protein (tofu, turkey, or chicken). No dairy except for non fat plain all natural greek yogurt. Google recipes made with greek yogurt.

1916673 tn?1420233270 This article has taken a long time to devise, research and prepare ... but it's now available to the Group, I'm pleased to say. There are 10 recipes here, including two treat recipes. One word of caution ... if you have a dog that has pancreatitis, don't use these recipes, as they are high fat/meat content. Always check with your vet beforehand. I hope some of you find these ideas useful in the battle to get your dog to eat.
Avatar n tn There are also plenty of free recipes on the internet. If you search candida recipes or paleo recipes (a nearly identical diet). Anyway, if it continues to be a problem, talking with your doctor might be a good idea just to be sure. He can run a few tests to make sure everything is as it should be.
Avatar f tn How do I track calories of home cooked meals. Thus seems like a very difficult thing.
Avatar n tn , but I was wondering if anyone knew of any good books about a diet for this condition. Or if you have good recipes, etc. I have lost 13 lbs. in the past 6 weeks and don't want to waste away! I have started drinking Ensure to make sure I get some calories and nutrients. Any advice/knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
976897 tn?1379167602 This is thought to be for making us more intelligent to find more food. So, how does the diet work. I will be trying the 5-2 diet, 5 days normal eating, 2 days diet. This has worked in many trials, lowing cholesterol, blood pressure, growth factors. It puts the cells into high repair mode and makes your body more youthful, not in looks, but in reaction times etc. Your major organs become more healthy. It also causes lots of body fat to be consumed.
Avatar f tn lol I stay googling all kinds of recipes and stuff. From Chinese foods, to soups, to Mexican foods, salads, Italian foods, quick meals, ALL sorts of things. lol Mainly because I crave so many different foods. Nowadays I'm always cooking. I used to NEVER cook. lol Am I the only one?
Avatar f tn I heard one can gain weight from eating only 1-2 meals a day. If I only eat two meals a day (one moderate, one bigger) will I gain weight? I’m unsure bc I heard only eating two meals is good too.
467897 tn?1240251837 I am aware of low proteins, but need to know about dairy, pasta, fresh fruits & veggies - I really need some guidelines so I can feed this poor body as good as possible. I do cook for myself, but due to the fatigue meals often come frozen in a box (you know microwavable "healthier eats"). But please, anyone out there that can recommend foods, recipes, basics???? Maybe someone is aware of a site, or maybe an old forum topic, I am willing to listen to good suggestions.
369861 tn?1306275686 You need to not consider it 5 - 6 meals. Still eat 3 meals but lighten up on them. Then have a snack between meals that might be a piece of low fat cheese and crackers, a handful of almonds, a piece of fruit, some yogurt. The idea is to keep your blood sugar up but you don't need a lot in between.
1767171 tn?1328018842 I understand the no hunger feeling from meds as I have had those in the past. I eat 5-6 meals a day, munching on vegies, half-sandwiches, granola, leftovers, etc. I love to cook so I challenge myself to whip up something small and deelish not so much for hungers sake, but knowing that I need to fuel my body for energy. Once you push past the mental block you will regain your appetite - well, I did after a couple of months.
Avatar f tn Most of the same rules for dieting apply. You just need to ensure you are eating a balanced diet and that you are getting the right nutrients. If you go to the Healthy Cooking Forum you will find lots of good recipes - many of them vegetarian and on the health pages there is some information about dealing with cravings and issues around vegetarianism and how to lighten up your cooking. Do ensure you are getting sufficient protein through beans and dairy.
Avatar f tn I had that with my first, I haven't been tested yet with my second. The specialist will help you figure out diet, but the biggest thing was to watch your carbohydrates. They are what converts into sugars. Eat small meals throughout the day instead of 3. Pasta, breads, ice cream, sodas, juices, anything like that will have a high carb count. Take a look at the nutritional information and see how much carbs are in each.
Avatar m tn To prevent memory loss when a person has diabetes, one should change their diet to include foods with fiber, protein, and calcium that will stimulate blood flow and also help replace some of the nutrients lost. Exercise will also promote blood flow. Walking is an excellent exercise that does not put excess strain on the body, joints or limbs and helps to reduce glucose levels.
Avatar f tn Anyone know of any good websites with diabetic friendly recipes? My mom has diabetes and I'm trying to help her out with a few meals.
Avatar f tn pop is sweet - even the diet kind because the BRAIN only knows sweet and salty - this PREVENTS feeling of full. This is why people can eat and eat at buffets. Usually drinking a pop with their meals. They eat way more than they normally would. TRY it. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn s been stressful planning these meals around the holidays (diabetic-friendly, dairy-free, gluten-free meals are hard to come by). Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn Hi ozarkskye, my advice is based on my own experience, as I'm not a physician but have been a diabetic for 11 years. There are many diet plans for diabetics, but the ones that work best are usually custom-made for individuals, tailored to their specific needs by their nutritionist/dietitian. Was the diet plan your doctor gave you created with your input and have you discussed your concerns with him?
Avatar f tn I would just choose to eat healthier, healthier meals, snacks, etc. not diet.. instead of eating a cookie, try some trail mix, or instead of fast food, google "healthy dinner recipes" and see what you can find, I agree, don't try losing weight, if it happens naturally while eating healthy that's a different story. Good luck hun!
Avatar f tn Some suggestions I have for you, Since my husband was trying to be healthier for a while, ( I am Underweight, so I had to eat seperate meals than my husband, but this is what I did for him) Eat Lots and Lots of Chicken, and also tuna. They are High on Protein ad low on Fat. If you are looking to loose weight and like the taste of grapefruit, My husband lost almost 50lbs in a 6 month period by eating one grapefruit and drinking one glass of grapefruit a day.
Avatar f tn It would help us better understand your dad's health if you told us what diabetes medication(s) he's taking, how much, and when. You also don't tell us what his glucose readings are; fasting and after meals. Really high is pretty vague. After 10-12 hr fast, above 200 mg/dl bad, above 250-300 very bad, above 400 dangerous. His doctor can prescribe the proper medication to help lower his glucose levels. Go see him/her asap.
Avatar f tn Try eating veghies and food that are high in fiber
