They have me on 30 mg oxycontin, twice daily, 10/325 percocet 6 a day, soma 4 times daily and xanax 2 mg for anxiety.
What are my options for the breakthrough pain, that is what I am taking the percocet for and I need to stop with the Tylenol already enough is enough. I talked with my doc last time I was there to see her, and this is when she switched me to the percocet from Vicoprofen, due to the fact that it was doing nothing for the pain.
Based on taking 15 mg of immediate release oxycodone every 5-6 hours, the optimal oxycontin dose is between 30 mg - 40 mg every 12 hours for a total of 60 mg - 80 mg of total oxycodone in 24 hours. Taking a 40 mg oxycontin every 12 hours would release about 3 mg of oxycodone every hour. Multiply the 3 mg of oxycodone by 5 hours and it equals 15 mg, which is roughly equivalent to the amount of immediate release oxycodone you were taking every 5-6 hours.
I am currently taking 10 mg of oxycodone(w/o apap) 4x a day & 30 mg of oxycotin 3x a day. But the 30 mg oxycotin doesnt seem to be workin as before. Can I take roxicodone30 mg to replace the oxycotin along w/ the 10 mg oxycodone or are they the same,???
not exactly..oxy in theory is a bit stronger than hydro..and sub is a different type of narcotic than the other 2..but conversoin charts do compare the strength of sub to other narcotics..but it is not really the effect they r comparing//but the strength...i do believe there is a conversion chart in avisg's journal...
Smoking Perks sounds a bit odd, they are mostly acetaminophen (Tylenol), so likely 500 or 750 mg of that for every 30 mg of oxy. I strongly recommend against smoking these!

t understand why she would be against you trying something other than the 30 mg oxycodone for BT pain. The 30 mg oxycodone tabs are the most sought after oxycodone med by addicts and because of that the DEA is closely watching all of the prescriptions for 30 mg oxycodone.
I really think that the 10 mg Opana IR would work well for your pain. I don't believe that building up a tolerance to pain meds equals "you just have to deal".
Here recently my back pain has been so severe I cant walk or get out of bed. My OB doctor prescribed me Tylenol With Codiene 30 mg tablets and than Oxycodone 5 mg tablets. I took my Tylenol with Codiene 30mg tablets for my pain because I couldn't sleep. Than 45 minutes later I took my oxycodone 5mg tablets. I had forgot I took my Tylenol with Codiene prior to taking my oxycodone. Will taking both of them harm my baby?? I'm in nervous wreck.
I have cervical dystonia in my neck, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, and hidertitis supperteva (sp?). I had been taking 20 mg opana 2x day along with 30 mg Oxycodone 4x day. My pain management doctor changed my dosage this last month to 40 mg opana 2x day and 30 mg Oxycodone 3x day. I have been on opiate pain medication for about 6 years, pretty much continuously. My problem is that since the dosage change, it seems like the medication is not lasting long enough.

Be careful of all that Tylenol. They are taking Hydrocodone off the market all together and replacing it with a long acting med called ZoHydro. it is Vicodin without the tylenol 500 mg of tylenol is way way too much for your liver to handle. I am on Roxy's which is oxycodone 30 mg no aspirin they do fine and for the long acting i am using Morphine Sulphate.
I take 45 mg of Morphine twice a day, that's a combination of 30 mg and 15 mg and 3 x's a day 15 mg oxycodone. Before I try to withdraw and see how I feel without pain meds. I do have a question. Which has the worst withdrawal symptoms? Oxycodone or Morphine. I have already stopped the oxycodone. I'm more or less curious about this subject. I often have read debates on the different forums. I was switched over to morphine ER 30 mg. in the morning and 30 mg. at night. I already dropped to 15 mg. at night. I'm also supposed to take 15 mg. IR every 4 hours but I'm stretching that to 5 or 6 hours.
I'm wondering since I haven't been on the morphine very long (2 weeks tops) what would happen if I just stopped taking them? Would I end up with withdrawals? I figure I'm past the point of withdrawal for the Fentanyl and oxycodone.
ve been on oxycodone for years for injured and deteriorating lumbar, thoracic and cervical discs. Currently I take 30 mg oxycodone 4 times daily (sometimes more depending on the day).
This works very well for my pain and restores (mostly) my ability to perform daily activities.
My problem as of late is sleep. My sleep is interrupted due to pain - it affects my being able to fall asleep sometimes and without doubt gets me out of bed BEFORE I am fully rested.
