Avatar f tn I am 37/4 and I am doing the 24 hour urine test because I had protein in my urine. I was wondering how does this all work, will I be induced if they find it again?
1420648 tn?1295809833 Well because I have protein in my urine, my bp was high but has now gone stable.. They did one 24 hour collection to get the exact level of protein. They have a cut off point of 0.30 and mine came in at 0.29 and seeing as it was so close to the cut off point I have to repeat it to see if it's now gone down or higher..
Avatar f tn especially if you have high blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Although you may not be diabetic, they want to do a 24 hr .urine protein level because high bp can also cause diabetes... If you have protein in your urine, that mean's you are possibly diabetic.. I know this because my husband is, and he has to do 24 hr urine's all the time...
Avatar f tn Have any of you had to do a 24 hour urine collection test to check for high blood pressure ? My ob wants the test to make sure I don't end up.with pre eclampsia. The thing I don't understand is I'm only 15 weeks and I didn't have this test with my first son. Also how can they tell from urine?

Avatar f tn I did, I had to do a 24 hour urine test, where I collected my urine refrigerated it and brought it in, everything was fine.
Avatar f tn Anyone had to do a 24 hour urine test for protein count and what were your results? I am 38 years old and 37+ weeks , blood pressure running 130/99 my normal bp is usually 115/73ish, I have mild swelling and never had this issue during previous pregnancies, but I am a little older now..
766680 tn?1257909640 However, my OB/gyn sent me to have monitoring at the hospital clinic to rule out pre-eclampsia last Friday. I had a 24 hour urine collection to see how much protein was in the urine, (anything over 300 is too high) bloodwork with a full panel and liver workup, and hooked to fetal monitors for almost four hours to make sure the babies heart rates were ok with my blood pressure fluctuating.
Avatar f tn My dr had me do a 24 hr urine test for protein. your protein levels change depending on the amount of fluids you have. They said my BP was fine but it was higher then normal for me. My sugar test is next tuesday so we shall see when that comes back.
Avatar f tn Has anyone done the 24 hour urine collection ? ...my feets and ankles have been very swollen now I have to collect my urine for 24 hours ... Has anyone gone through this or have tested for preheclamsia ?
Avatar f tn I had a 24 hour creatinine clearance test done and it showed 2 abnormal results: a high creatinine clearance of 145.7 (I am a 37 y.o. F) and the other was " UR PROTEIN, CALC" which was 230.4 when the reference range is <149.1. The urine protein was <4 so what is the difference between the urine protein and the other UR PROTEIN,CALC? and then there is marginally high, high, and way high--is 230.4 really high? It seems like it. Help!!
Avatar f tn m doing the 24 hour urine collection. My bp has steadily been rising but is only elevated slightly and not high. They are talking about inducing me thursday too... for some reason I get the feeling they are doing it just to induce me so I don't have the baby on Christmas because I don't have symptoms of preeclampsia besides them telling me I have protein.
9801256 tn?1412729114 Yeah it can mean either of those. Sounds like doc is going to request you do a 24 hour urine test. You pee in a jug for 24 hours straight and refrigerate. Then dr can tell if yoy have pre eclampsia or diabetes. But small amount of protein is no big deal.
178698 tn?1228774338 I have had protein in my urine since I was in my early 20s. It's never been at a high enough level for the MDs to get overly concerned. I've had testing on my kidneys and everything, and they can't find anything wrong. As far as pregnancy goes, I've also had it in my urine during this pregnancy, but not at a high level. I have had to do 24-hour urine collections a couple of times so he could check kidney function but, other than that, no big deal.
Avatar f tn I'm 35 weeks 3 days and I tested positive for slight traces of protein in my urine also. BP has always been great, and doctor says it just means that I have a possible slight uti and he started me on Macrobid.
Avatar f tn for the past few weeks i either have had traces of protein or protein in my urine...so i will do the 24 hour urine test...what are they checking for? i assume it cant be for pre-eclampsia since i always have perfect blood preasure. the doctor was very short and i didnt get to ask any questions. has anyone else had to do this and what were they checking for ...and what did it turn out to be????????????????????????
Avatar f tn Dehydrated probably. That's typically what dark urine means. I have had protein in my urine on and off this pregnancy. I had my son last year at 37+3 because of hypertension getting so bad and had like 5 24 hour urine test done. I'm 36 weeks today and blood pressure is up and down and leaking protein and my urine is typically about the same color every time regardless of protein in it or not.
Avatar f tn Your doctor should be checking your urine for glucose every time your seen. Also, you should be having a 1 hour glucose tolerance test. If you are within normal limits you won't have to do the three hour glucose tolerance test.
Avatar m tn The urine, no. Blood test is for PT-PTT, your ability to clot. If you are way,way slow on clotting they will choose a method besides needle biopsy or delay it.
Avatar n tn My nephrologist ordered a random routine Urine test and a 24 hour urine protein test. Both the tests came back normal. The urine routine also tested for nitrates and bilirubin and they are absent too. The urine specfic gravity and pH are normal too. This test however does not check Calcium levels. The 24 hour test says that over a 24 hour period my kidneys let out 25.5 mg of protein in 1.5 litres of urine. I was measured my fluid intake on the day of test to be 1.0 litre.
280234 tn?1532986249 The true amount of protein in your urine can be best figured out by doing a 24 hour urine collection and your kidney function can also be calculated on that specimen. There are many causes for protein in urine and many false readings. Even vaginal discharge when it gets into the urine cup will give you a positive protein reading. S.A.Liroff, M.D.
Avatar f tn Did anyone else have to do the 24 hr urine test and is having to much protein bad even for the baby though it's something I've always had ???
