No significant disk bulge, canal stenosis, or neural foraminal narrowing is identified at this level. The L3-4 level also demonstrates diffuse extravasation of the contrast material from the anterior and right lateral aspects of the disk suggestive of tear.
Avatar m tn It is distressing to experience so much pain with no headways to the cause coming. I understand that a thrombophlebitis of the arm vein following extravasation of one of the various irritant intravenous drugs given at the time of surgery could be a cause. This could have caused some damage to the ulnar and median nerves I nthe vicinity due to extravasation.
Avatar f tn The term could be referring to an active arterial extravasation/ haemorrhage. You might want to check this with your doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn We were at our local Childrens hospital last night to have a very large one drained. She was on Zyvox during Thanksgiving and we were free of abscesses for 3 weeks. That is the longest she has gone without having one. We have seen an Infectious Disease doctor that doesn't offer us much hope in getting these to go away.
Avatar n tn You have described a well-known complication known as extravasation of contrast media (iodinated contrast for CT or gadolinium for MRI, the latter in your case), which means some or all of the contrast which was supposed to be injected into your veins leaked out into the surrounding soft tissues. Patients typically experience localized pain, swelling, itching, and/or redness.

Avatar f tn his symptoms returned immediately when the antibiotics were finished. This resulted in 2 debridement surgeries where all the hardware was removed. He was on 6 weeks of IV Vanco and Rifampin which seem to end the infection. 6 weeks ago the went back in to redo the spinal fusion as his scoliosis was still severe and he had become very kyphotic well into his lumbar spine.
Avatar n tn s and one surgery for a port ( my veins were shot) as well as a round of Zyvox pills ($82.00 a pill or $1600.00), I still tested positive. As luck and God would have it, I had been taking amoxicillian before all this happened so I thought "why not finish it, nothing else has worked". I knew when I took the amox, I had started to feel better. I talked my local PA into putting me on 8 weeks of it and low and behold, I have tested negative 2x.
Avatar f tn I picked up VRE while in the hospital which was treated with 14 days of IV Zyvox. The VRE came back, in my urine, and I was hospitalized again last week and put back on Zyvox (oral this time). I am also on IV clindamycin and azithromycin, and a long list of other medications. While in the hospital they did daily blood work, of course, and my results have gotten progressively worse. They told me to follow up with my pcp, but my pcp is pretty much useless.
Avatar f tn Hi, The edema of the ankles commonly occurs in the elderly due to a poor functioning of the heart and hence there’s stasis of the blood around the lower extremities resulting in edema of the feet due to extravasation of the fluids from the blood. Due to the poor functioning of the heart, there’s poor blood supply to the brain also which can result in confusion in the elderly. Left ventricular systolic dysfunction means left heart failure. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted.
Avatar m tn Hello, Pigmented purpuric dermatosis is a chronic disease characterized by extravasation of erythrocytes in the skin with marked hemosiderin deposition. Unfortunately there is no cure for this disease except steroid creams which are available by prescription. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist. I would suggest a dermatologist’s for the same.
168348 tn?1379357075 PEI can be very effective in the treatment of larger cysts that have one significant pocket of fluid (in contrast to multiple, small pockets of fluid) -- The cyst is drained then approx half of that volume in 95% ethanol is injected back into the cyst. Risks include extravasation of the ethanol into the local tissues with possible damage to the nerve going to the vocal cords (usually temporary). There are a few of us who perform these on a regular basis, but it is still not widely available.
Avatar n tn the cultures and urine showed Staphylococcus epidermidis which was treated with success with vanc and zyvox. i know S. epi. is a common skin flora but i am confused as to how i was infected. Any insight?
Avatar f tn The swelling of the back could be local extravasation of these drugs and need to be checked by the neurologist. Hope this helps and take care.
Avatar f tn The swellings continued and my eyes were also swollen. He told me that i was allergic to the Bactrim and prescibed some Zyvox. Im currently taking it and maintaining a tyramine free diet and see the results.
Avatar m tn Hello, It is very difficult to make a diagnosis without examination but the possibilities for your symptoms are mucocele, tonsillitis and pharyngitis.Canker sores are small shallow ulcers that appear in the mouth and often make eating and talking uncomfortable. They are generally caused by Stress, tissue injury, eating certain foods, impaired immune system, vitamin B-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency; and gastrointestinal tract disease, such as Celiac disease and Crohn's disease.
Avatar f tn t any infection going. Matter of fact, they were getting a pre-authorization ready to go for Zyvox.... Amazing, no infection, but I was going to get a antibotic? Just don't understand. Anyways, long story short, the second ortho suggested that I did not pick the Zyvox up - didn't need it. I go back to see the second ortho surgeon on Tuesday and will request a nasal mucous culture just for gp's. So, I guess the nasal swab is the tell tell if you are a MRSA carrier correct?
Avatar n tn My husband and son have not exhibited any skin conditions-just me. I have taken your advice and went to an infectious disease specialist. He has taken some cultures and has already put me on a new antibiotic called Zyvox. If the antibiotics doesn't clear the condition-I have considered looking for a new home for the dog. Thanks for your advice. I will see what the cultures suggest. Thanks!

Avatar n tn Good afternoon and thank you to anyone/everyone whoever takes the time to read and respond to posts like this. It's so appreciated and provides much comfort to those of us who are really struggling without a place to turn. Sadly, I've been suffering for 7, coming up to 8 months. Back in December of last year, I ended up holding my bladder far, far longer than I should've.
Avatar f tn Imaging reveals extravasation of contrast into a posterior space with complete collapse of the left hip joint, possible CT scan needed"
Avatar m tn also it is highly contagious. so avoid open physical contact with others unless u get treated .
Avatar m tn Now I have been here another 6 days (total of 12 days sick) and have been on about 3 different IV antibiotics from Zyvox, Zosyn, to Levaquin and am on breathing treatments. Now both x-rays and CT scans are showing it has spread to both of my lungs and has gotten much worse. I also now have a horrible cough. My white blood cell count has remained normal and are not elevated, which indicates my immune system is not responding and Dr's can't explain why.
Avatar n tn Hi Moirajax, I don't have any blistering or ulceration. The hypochondriac that I am I have done so much research that I knew what it could be. I've been to my doctor multiple times and they keep telling me to wait. Thanks so much for your response.
Avatar m tn m not sure if that is from my sweat in the area and the rash combining or what. This was the first time I had sex in two years. I am taking Zyvox for an unrelated symptom and have been taking it since 4/20/09. I'm not sure if this would be a reaction to that medication. I went to the doctor yesterday and he looked at my penis briefly and prescribed me Cipro and said it should go away in a few days and to see him again if it didn't. What's your take on the matter.
